Bob Barney: LIBERTY, the Forgotten Freedom (Transcript)

By Bob Barney

In this broadcast, Bob Barney elaborates on the forgotten notion of “LIBERTY!”

The Plain Truth is so Happy That You Have Been Enjoying Bob’s Broadcasts.

2000 years ago, a newscaster that we know of as Jesus Christ warned us about false Christianity. The warning was not against the devil but against false Christianity…about people who come in His name and deceive many.

In recent years historians of the American Revolution have become increasingly convinced that political ideas, rather than material interests, were what ultimately led American colonists to fight for independence from Great Britain. During the years preceding the Revolution, Americans explained their resistance to British rule in principled terms. They understood liberty to be something real, valuable, and seriously threatened by British actions that were not merely impolitic but fundamentally unjust. American statesmen contended that certain basic principles had to rule governments, and they developed careful, complex arguments to persuade others, in the colonies and in Britain, that the British government was violating these principles to an extent that prudent, well-informed citizens could not allow. “The American Revolution and the Politics of Liberty” is an account of the political thought of the leaders of the American Revolution, authored by Robert H. Webking. He analyzes in turn the ideas of James Otis, Patrick Henry, John Dickinson, Samuel Adams, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson.

Do you happen to know what word is on every single coin ever minted by The United States Mint?

Hi, this is Bob Barney with another edition of The Plain Truth’s Podcast. I am getting into something that I think most people are unaware of or do not realize the real meaning of the Revolutionary War and what our forefathers thought about and why we fought.

Unfortunately today, people think that we fought for democracy and that we wanted a democratic form of government, representation…the term was no taxation without representation. People think we went to war over taxes, and tariffs and because we wanted to have a democracy. However, that is not the real reason that we went to war. I am a minor coin collector, I started doing so a few years ago and I find it a very good hedge against inflation; both gold and silver itself are so. But coins made out of gold and silver can be even a better hedge of inflation. There are coins that are so rare that a year ago they sold last year for 135 thousand dollars for one coin, then a year later they are up to 200 thousand. That’s a great increase.

One thing that I think would surprise many people is this, there is a word printed on every single coin that has ever been minted by the US Mint. In fact, the Coinage Act on April 2nd, Passover Eve by the way, in 1792 literally mandated the wordage that had to be on every single coin ever made.  I want to explain to you what was the most important concept that the American Revolution was fought over.  Because of the lack of education and preconceived ideas that the forefathers were fighting against taxation and that they had to representation in Parliament or that they were fighting against the right to be a democratic society, having their own government as a goal…. believe it or not, America is not a democracy, and it was not meant to be one. It is a democratic republic. All democracies in history have failed within a generation or two.

I like to tell people what a democracy is: there are 5 people on a deserted island, two of them are women and three are men….in a democratic form of government, the three men vote that it is okay to rape the women. The women of course vote no. In a pure democracy, the women can be raped if the vote for it and they outnumber the women from 3 to 2. Our forefathers understood that democracy was not a good idea.  It was tried in Athens and other civilizations, and it did not work. Democracy is again mob rule.

Our forefathers were afraid of mob rule.

I want to get into this coin topic because on our coins there is a word that symbolizes why we fought the Revolutionary War. I think if our forefathers were to come back today and see the tyranny that we are actually under, the absolute tyranny and listen to the people talk about democracy like Nancy Pelosi and the liberals saying that Trump tried to take away their democratic form of government. Nothing could be further from the truth. Unfortunately, because of misinformation, bad education and the lying of our leaders, we are becoming a democracy and the next step after that is a dictatorship. So, for the last 20 years we have people being fooled that we are a democracy, and we are seeing the vestiges of becoming a dictatorship.

Our forefathers knew that a democracy was not the answer. A democratic form of a republic government was the answer. This is where people would vote for representatives THAT WOULD still vote their conscience and not be a representative of mob rule. SO, we are based on democratic principles in a republican form of government which guarantees individual freedom. The individual was the most important to our forefathers, believe it or not, we were frontier people. Even Connecticut, NY and Virginia at one time were a frontier when we first moved to this country in the 1600’s. We were people who valued independence…liberty. We wanted to be left alone, have our own way of government and do our own thing…but most importantly we did not want to be told what to do. We didn’t want any entity hundreds of miles away making our laws. We wanted to make our own laws and have our own way of life…to be a free people. What our forefathers actually fought for was liberty on every single coin that has ever been printed in the USA starting with the very first coin in 1792 the country is less than three years old, and the congress established a mint-to-mint coinage for America. In that congressional mandate was that the obverse side of every coin published would have the inscription LIBERTY on it.  The reverse side would have The United States of America E Pluribus Unum. Out of a few many becomes one, that is Latin.

But the idea that our forefathers actually fought for liberty is something we are losing today. Certain things are required to have a life of liberty. Liberty does not imply that you have the freedom to rob your neighbor, to steal something that is not yours. It doesn’t imply that you do not have to follow rules and regulations. Liberty means if you mind your own business and do not break any laws, no government entity has any freedom to infringe upon your freedoms. If you want to drive from CT to Wyoming, there would be no hindrance. No state could put up a sign saying you cannot enter it. Boy, that went away during covid, did it not? I remember my mom dying, not of Covid, but of cancer, but back in July of 2020 how it was technically illegal to go from VA to CT without reporting it. And so, my family had to go in shifts in order to see my mom as her final days were approaching because of an unconstitutional law by the state of CT that boycotted, banned people from coming from other states. That is what our forefathers fought against, they fought for liberty.

Like I keep saying, take any coin out of your pocket today and you will see the word liberty.  THAT my friend is what the Revolutionary War was all about…about liberty, liberty to be able to go wherever you want to go and live where you want to live and work where you want to work…to not be told by your government what to do. If Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson miraculously showed up today and saw what was going on they probably would not understand how we got here.

There was more freedom, more liberty in 1774 colonial America under English rule then there is today in the United States of America under FBI in Washington rules. You do not have a right or anything today it seems because it doesn’t look like the Supreme Court is going to get involved with a lot of these cases going on. But you have people from January 6, not allowed to see a lawyer, stuck in prison, the Bill of Rights being totally ignored. that was not allowed in colonial times when we decided to go to war with England. Colonials had more liberty under King George then we have today then under King Joe Biden. That should scare people because we went to war and put our lives on the line, our forefathers did anyway, and died and killed the enemy for a lot less reason than we would have today if a war were to break out between the citizenry and the government.

Don’t ever forget that. Don’t let anyone tell you differently, that we fought in order to avoid taxes that we couldn’t have representation for, or we didn’t like the Stamp Act, or we didn’t like soldiers living in our houses…the idea that our forefathers really were fighting for our personal liberty is what is true. I don’t know about you, but I want to be left alone. I don’t want anyone knocking on my door to tell me they have a warrant to look at some papers I have or what I want to store or keep as long as it isn’t illegal, and at times without court orders. Did you know that when you get stopped by a cop, and I am using the word cop rather than police officers, I have some problems with the police of today that are going along with this totalitarianism today, and they ARE going along with it. When you have someone sitting on the side of the road with a laser to get you for going 7 miles over the speed limit, that isn’t their purpose, they are there to keep the public safe from crime, not to make money for their city or their state; that is really what they have become, commissioned salesmen. Do you realize that if you are stopped by a cop and take out your phone and start recording the conversation, most likely that phone is going to be confiscated from you. Just think about that. They have NO right to do that or take away a recording device to show in court that this officer did not follow procedures and actually broke the law.

People always hear the term writ of habeas corpus which is found in the Bill of Rights. This is latin for producing the body. Anyone who is put in jail for any crime, the first the that a lawyer will do if they are held in solitary and not be allowed to see their lawyer, which is happening to those people from January 6…a lawyer will file in court a writ of habeas corpus which means produce the person to me…in this court, so I can become his counsel and his attorney and defend him against any charges….then the charges need to be read then there needs to be a fair and speedy trial of the person’s peers. That is in your constitution. That is what you have to right to and yet there are dozens of people languishing in DC jails who have not been able to see a lawyer. There are American citizens, we are not talking about Gitmo Bay terrorists from another country who have more rights, they have literally more rights than you do if you are a January 6th prisoner. All of the constitution has been suspended for them and that is illegal, and NOTHING is being done. It is not going to the Supreme Court and frankly, people like you and I are doing very little to stop it…we are allowing it to continue.

We have less freedom, less liberty today then Ben Franklin had in 1775 before he signed the declaration of Independence in 1776 which turned around the liberty that Americans had because we decided to go to war with England. Under wartime, you know, rules get suspended and thrown away. But today, we have such a perverse sense of justice. Of what this country stands for. It frightens me, I will tell you the truth. It really frightens me what our future is for your children and grandchildren. I am 68 years old, and I never thought I was going to see the inevitable turn of America into a dictatorship. I knew it was going to happen eventually, and if you have read The Plain Truth for the last 18 years, I have written about this as we know that we have predicted because the Bible has told us who America is, that we would go into totalitarianism dictatorship but I didn’t think I would see it in my lifetime….in a matter of just a few years. A few months even. Joe Biden taking office put out executive orders within months that absolutely stripped you of your rights. Rights guaranteed by the Constitution. And no republican did anything to stop it ultimately

I find it fascinating that we watch tv shows, and I am not against some of these charities, but like Wounded Warrior Project for example, I am not sure and I am not endorsing them but the idea that 855 organization that are supporting our veterans have to beg for money because our government refuses to take care of the warriors that we sent to an illegal  undeclared war in Iraq, got severely wounded and get very little help from this government.

Who, by the way, has no problem taking illegal aliens and taking them into 500 dollars a day hotel in NYC, giving them a free phone, a 2000 dollar a month food and clothing allowance, all on the taxpayer’s bill. They are not American citizens and have no rights to such things, but they get it all. All while our soldiers who are wounded are getting screwed by our government and people who allow it to go on.

Are you familiar with this fact that every single day in America, 20 veterans commit suicide. It is a crisis. Yet, there is no one there to help except some organizations like Wounded Warrior Project and other ones trying to raise money from you because the government who has called these people up and sent them to war has forgotten about them; they treat them like dirt. They treat them like what we should be treating illegal aliens like. What kind of message does that send people today? About what our government thinks about our soldiers? What kind of message does it have that if you protest against the government, the powers that be, the dictator in Washington DC, that they can put you in jail and not even allow you to see a lawyer.  Doesn’t that bother you? The way this country is going so quickly.

We go along our everyday lives working our jobs, trying to get ahead and I understand then most peop;le that you listen to, what it is to try and make ends meet and try to pay bills but at the same time if you lose your personal liberty, you have lost everything.

You have lost what thousands of people died for. Soldiers through the years have died so You can have liberty, not a democracy but liberty. That you could be free to live in any state you want to go to, to have any profession you want to have, to take what kind of medication you want to take and to go to what doctor you want to go to and any be free to go to any school you want to or free to choose that you do not want to go to school…this is what our forefathers and our veterans of past wars have fought for…and we are peeing on their graves. That is what is happening you are spitting on their feet…most people don’t even know the word liberty is on their coins.

They don’t even understand that our forefathers saw that our personal liberty was more important than any idea of a democracy. In fact, you often hear about a person of the law making the following statement which is true, “our constitution guarantees the right of the accused” in fact, our constitution is based on the fact that guilty people can walk free if a jury sets him or her free. We would rather see people go free than innocent people get railroaded into jail. It is more dangerous to have no liberty, no sense of freedom, no guarantees under the constitution then anything else there is.

To close this show, I want to emphasize that you have a choice in front of you. You can defend what our forefathers fought for, which is liberty again, freedom, personal freedom, or you can go along like mindless sheep listening to a government that hates your guts…your government hates you if you are a middle-class hard-working citizen, they despise you and want to see you dead…do you believe that? I think a lot of people don’t want to listen to me because I say this, this is The Plain Truth.
