The Plain Truth is so Happy That You Have Been Enjoying Bob’s Broadcasts.
2000 years ago, a newscaster that we know of as Jesus Christ warned us about false Christianity. The warning was not against the devil but against false Christianity…about people who come in His name and deceive many.
CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO BOB BARNEY’S MIDDAY BROADCAST: CHRISTMAS, CALENDAR, DAYS OF THE WEEK

Hi, it’s Bob Barney for The Plain Truth Today and it’s Christmas week. We will be having quite a few shows this week as I mentioned earlier on another broadcast about the real meaning of Christmas. Christ has nothing to do with the real meaning of Christmas and we will be getting into that in upcoming broadcasts. I did a little bit on another show earlier about this, but today’s show will be an introduction to those who do not know what Christmas is and where it came from. We will also be discussing why the early Americans, especially the Puritans in New England, outlawed Christmas for many years in America. In fact, it was outlawed in New England throughout most of the colonial period up until the Revolutionary War. In Massachusetts, Christmas was actually outlawed long after America was established as a country. In 1826, I believe, they were still outlawing Christmas, which was 50 years after the Declaration of Independence!
In the next year or so we will be doing a series called, Why We Do What We Do.
2:34 The plain truth is that we all do things that we are basically taught to do as children; it is part of our tradition. If you really take time to read the Bible, you will see that many times Christ has a problem with people who put the traditions of man over the laws of God. Christmas, Easter, and many of the pagan and paganized Christian holidays are just examples of people following the traditions of man and not following the will of God. This is a topic we have had on The Plain Truth for a long time called, Why We Do What We Do.
Why do we do things that we do?
When you sit down and you think about it rationally, if you just sit back someday and just meditate on the things that you do, ask yourself why do you do the things you do? Why are there certain days that are deemed important? Why, why do we call Sunday, Sunday? Why do we call Monday, Monday? Tuesday, Tuesday? Where do those days even come from? Do they come from modern English or do they have a nefarious background? Well, we do a show on the origin and the paganism of the Catholic Church.
We find that many of the practices of the Protestants are the very practices within the Catholic religion. The Protestants do not think they are Catholic at all though…but whatever they want to call themselves, they are really following a traditional Catholic faith just without a Pope.
I think it was around 325 AD when the Emperor Constantine’s mother did convert to Christianity. Constantine as you may know was a Roman Emperor. The Christianity that his mother converted to though, I’m not sure of how sincere it was to the traditional Christianity that the Apostles brought forth, but she did go to the Holy Lands.
5:45 Speaking of the Holy Lands, Did you know that if you go to these alleged Holy places, none of these places are actually the correct locations of the actual events they are claimed to represent? I am talking about places like the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, or where they claim Mary’s house was, and what they claim is the Last Supper’s Room. Even if you go to most of all of these churches that are over the spots that they claim to be Jesus’s tombs, Jesus’s birthplace, you name it, these are places that Emperor Constantine’s mother declared as actual holy landmarks. She went on a holy mission, and ventured to the Middle East so she may have found something or she may not have, history’s kind of unclear as far as I know, but she is the one that said, this is where He was born, and this is where His Last Supper was, and this is where He was crucified, however, from all that I have studied, they are not the actual holy places she claims.
When people go to the Holy Land today, and they go to these different churches that are over certain relics claiming that this is where this or that happened, they are following the traditions of men hat were founded by Emperor Constantine’s mother! Let’s back up one second before we talk more about Constantine. The early church, as we know it, and you can read this in the New Testament, in the Acts of the Apostles and the letters of Paul and, of course, Revelation, but you realize that the early church, right away, did not only have a problem with the Jews. Remember, the Jewish people did not like the Christian message and they also had a problem with the Romans.
The Romans had many gods, and they did not like the idea that there was this religion out there that taught there was a one God concept, and they couldn’t really understand the one God theory, and as a result, they didn’t really figure out who Christ really was.
Some people thought He was a man who became God, and to the Romans, many emperors claimed to become gods after they were born, so that made sense to them, but they couldn’t figure out who this Jesus was and who this God was. Of course, they also didn’t have any idea of the concept of a Godhead that was comprised of Jesus as a God and God the Father. They were polytheistic and they did not know where the Christians were coming from. It is like the many times when you don’t understand something, you kind of get afraid of it…it was like that possibly with the Romans. They became afraid of the Christians, and of course, there’s that famous story where Nero blamed the burning of Rome, and some people believe that Nero burned Rome down himself in order to build a new Rome, but Nero blamed the burning of Rome on Christians. So therefore, the Roman citizens believed it because they never trusted the Christians because they had a different faith.
Even to this day we don’t trust people that don’t agree with us.
7:56 We don’t trust other religions that we find to be nefarious or that we find to not be the real religion...we may not like the way they look, we don’t like the headgear, or the dot on their forehead, or you name it, and so we are leery of people that are not like us, and that is the human nature. That is a natural, natural thing, and there’s not necessarily anything wrong with it, but it’s not necessarily an educated, informed opinion that you have of people all of the time if you operate from a place of fear. You can get an informed opinion, if you believe the Bible, however, unless you are following the religion, the faith that Jesus Christ brought with Him as a man who walked this earth, and He was God before, He is the God of the Old Testament, whenever you read about the Lord God Almighty, the God who spoke to Moses from the burning bush, the personage of that God that is being mentioned in the Old Testament became, as a human, Jesus Christ, but before, he was the Yahweh, the Yahweh, or the Jehovah of the Old Testament. The Old Testament God is not, for the most part, God the Father, that many people, many Christians today assume. Most Christians assume that the Old Testament God, who ordered the execution of men, women, and children when the Israelis took over the land, the Promised Land, they’ve, they all believe, most Christians to this day believe, that that God that did that was the God that we know as the Father, and that Christ came, and is a different kind of God, and he’s a God of love, and he’s a God of peace, and forgiving your enemies, and never harming anyone, and we have a Jesus today that is based on tradition, and not based on the Bible, because Jesus himself is the God of the Old Testament, who did order the deaths of women, children, and men. It’s just something that most Christians do not want to accept or believe.
They want to cling to their tradition that Jesus Christ is some baby in a manger somewhere. That he’s some baby that’s on the breast of Mary, in a Madonna-type scenario. He is this person on a cross, and many people wear crucifixes, which, by the way, most likely, never, never, was what Christ was actually crucified on. He was crucified on a stake. As a matter of fact, some of the renditions in the original verbiage of the Old Testament, and the New Testament, is that he was crucified on a tree, or a spike, or a just one pole, where He was bound up with His hands above him, his feet below Him. This is where He died…did you know that the cross is really an ancient Babylonian pagan idea that predated the human form of Jesus Christ walking this earth, and the Romans did use different ways to crucify people, but one of the ways they did crucify people was on a stake, and sometimes the translations, especially in the New Testament, you see the word tree, or stake, and not a cross. This is because the cross is a symbol of, really, Nimrod, who is the first Antichrist of your Bible, going way back with the Tower of Babel and that mighty hunter against the Lord who was a black person from the tribe of Cain. This is who became the mighty hunter. All of the religions in the world were based on him and his edict. Did you know this?
Remember, before the Tower of Babel, all of the people were speaking one language and he was the one king of a unified world. His kingdom was similar to what Revelation tells us what the end time kingdom of the Antichrist will be like.
11:35 Well, there will be one world government type, there will be one language, there will be one currency that everyone’s going to have to use to buy or sell, and there is going to be one type of religion. That is going to be the religion of the Antichrist, at least in the modern world. There will be the King of the South, who will not accept the religion of the King of the North, who is the Antichrist…and those are the Muslims…and there is this 200 million man army that’s going to come probably from China that we don’t know where they stand religiously at that time or if they’re still communist or not. We don’t know when that happens, or if they are really a pawn vessel state of Japan who may conquer them again as they did in World War II. But, for the most part, the idea that we have of who the God of the Old Testament is, who Jesus Christ is, is based more on your traditional thought that you were taught in Sunday school, or you were taught by a minister, or basically by your parents, or what you saw on TV. One of the worst things you can do watching TV is to watch a Jesus movie, you know, King of Kings, and all of these movies, because they showed Christ as he did not look. He had short hair, you can prove that. They showed a Christ that stood out in a crowd, had piercing blue eyes, he might have had blue eyes, by the way, many Jews have blue eyes, but Christ probably had red hair, like his forefather David had red hair, he was called Ruddy, but Christ could not stand out in a crowd.
Why do you think the Pharisees and the priest needed Judas to point Bim out at night, when they went to arrest Him? The logical reason is because Jesus Christ was so ordinary looking, that even though He taught every day in the temple and they saw Him, they couldn’t remember really what He looked like. That kind of implies to me that He didn’t stand out very well, and they needed a traitor among them to be able to point him out.
12:34 This is what you really see in the gospel accounts of the betrayal of Jesus Christ by Judas that night before his crucifixion.
What we really have is a picture of a Jesus today that really is not historically accurate and similarly we adopt and we do the things that we do because of the tradition of Christmas that we don’t even realize is quite modern.
Charles Dickens, from the famous A Christmas Carol, back in the 1850s back in England, is really the person who brought us the Christmas as we know it. Before then, Christmas was celebrated in Germany and England. It was a very big holiday in Europe. Christmas had not yet made it to the United States of America. It was in the southern colonies like Virginia, because they were just part of the English church. But in New England, where it was outlawed, and even in England, when Cromwell dethroned the king, they actually did away with the king for a few years in England during the Puritan Revolution, they actually outlawed Christmas in England back in, I think, around 16, 1580, 1600, you have to look that up. But the traditions that we have of a snowy Christmas, for example, of a slave going through the snow, of a Christmas tree, all of these come from pagan sources. They do not come from the Bible, and they are quite a recent happening in history.
15:01 They were often like the Jewish people were in World War II. Again today, if you keep up with the news, they were an easy target. When Constantine came, with influence from his mother, whom I do believe was a Christian as much as she knew how to be one. He decided politically that it might be good if we accept Christianity and make it a state religion that everybody has to follow. Therefore, how do I do this when the people, including myself, believe in many gods? How do we rectify this with the gospel message? Well, what Constantine did, under his authority and under a pope whom he chose, they took all of the pagan influences, the pagan holidays, and Saturnalia, became Christmas and the celebration for Tammuz, for example, in your Bible became Easter, and all of these pagan holidays that they followed traditionally for years became traditionally a part of Christmas in the Catholic Church. That’s how we got to it and that’s where the whole idea of Christmas came from.
One other thing, Constantine was a believer, and so was all of Rome and the whole known world. If you were a Babylonian, if you were an Assyrian, if you were an Egyptian, if you were a Canaanite, if you were a Greek, or if you were a Roman, you believed one thing, that there was a head god, and that head god in Egypt was called Ra. In Rome, he was called Mithra, and he was the god or the sun god, not the son of God like Christ, but the sun, S-U-N god.
So, when Constantine accepted Christianity as the state religion, he was not going to accept the Sabbath day as the correct day because the Sabbath day did not correspond directly with the greatest god that they worshipped which was the sun god. This is whom they named Sunday after by the way…so Sun day is the day of the sun god, and that was before it became it ever became Christianized. And so Constantine said, I am going to accept Christianity.
I saw this flaming cross in a battle, and I realized Christ was talking to me to kill my enemies…that’s what he said, and then he said, but we cannot follow certain things that the Christians do, because Romans will not accept it. So we’re going to change the Saturday Sabbath to Sunday, because Sunday is the day of the real god, the sun god, and we’re going to say that Jesus Christ now is no longer the son of God, per se, but he is the sun god, who is also the son of God. That is the story of how we got from the Sabbath day to be on a Sunday. It had nothing to do with religion, had nothing to do with the Bible, had nothing to do with Christ who rose from the grave on a Sunday morning. Which by the way, He did not, and you can prove that. But it had to do with Constantine trying to make sure that the Romans would accept this new Christianity, and he did so by bringing all of the gods of ancient Rome, and he made them the saints of the Christian church, and that is why, for example, you have certain things in the Christian church that was introduced by Constantine, where you have, every day of the year has a saint that is in charge of that day, and that came from the Roman gods of each day.
17:23 Mary worship, which the Catholics do, claim that she’s the queen of heaven, well, you just do a concordance search of the queen of heaven in the Bible, and you will find many sources and many references to the queen of heaven. Who is it? It is none other than the pagan god Astarte who we would call Easter.
Yes, Easter is actually named after a pagan goddess whose husband was killed named Nimrod, and he was resurrected from the dead, according to the wife, and she said her son, named Tammuz, was the resurrected form of Nimrod. She said he was to be worshipped and so she chopped up his body into many pieces and sent different pieces of the body to every single type of religion through the known world at the time of Babylon. That is how all of the religions, no matter where they are around the world, have this mother-child relationship, this Madonna image. You can find it in every pagan source. You can find it in ancient Greece, ancient Rome, ancient Israel, yes, ancient Israel, you find that in the Old Testament, ancient Egypt, and as far as India, the Asian nations, they all got pieces of Nimrod’s body to adopt as their resurrected god, and it was a false Jesus.
It’s a false Christ. It’s an anti-Christ image, and that is why we have the word Sunday.
18:56 In fact, there is not one day in our calendar that is referred to properly from the Bible. The Bible says Sunday is the first day of the week. Monday is the second day of the week. Tuesday, another god, is the third day of the week. Wednesday is actually named after the god Woden or Woden’s day, or Wenda’s day, the fourth day of the week. Thursday is the god Thor, Thor’s day, which is the fifth day of the week. Friday is another god, the sixth day of the week, and Saturday is actually the god of Saturn, that this planet Saturn was looked at as a god, and so we get Saturn’s day, or Saturday, not the Sabbath day. But when you go to the Bible, you will never see a day named other than one, two, three, four, five, six, and then the seventh Sabbath day. That is how the Bible names the days. Now we go to our modern calendar, which is not very modern at all. We don’t follow God’s calendar as laid out in the Bible. We follow the Roman calendar, started by Julius Caesar, and then reinterpreted again by Pope Gregory, and we follow the Gregorian calendar, and we have January for Janus, the god, and again, every month is named after a Roman god, every single month until you get to July. July is for Julius Caesar, August is for Augustus Caesar, and then when you get to, for example, September, that’s actually a play on words. September means the number of the month, October means the number of the month, November means the number of the month, December means the number of the month, and they followed a different calendar.
They started theirs from January 1st, and that’s how we have New Year’s Day, and New Year’s Day in the Christian church, but the New Year’s Day has nothing to do with the Bible. The Bible’s New Year’s Day is March 21st, March 20th to March 21st, depending on what year you’re in, but it’s mainly March 20th, I believe, and Passover will always fall on April 2nd evening and the day of April 3rd. Christ died on the cross on Wednesday, April the 3rd in the year 30 AD, and again, you can actually prove that to be the case.
You can prove that very easily.
22:56 You go to theplaintruth.com, and we have many articles on when Christ was killed on the cross, and we have a perpetual calendar that you can line up. One event that lined up was the Jewish Passover which had to be on a Wednesday. This is so because we know that Christ rose from the dead after three days…and this makes it so we know that the 14th of the Jewish month must coincide with the 3rd of April. We know that it has to be in the years 26 to 35 AD when Pontius Pilate reigned. Therefore when you put the calendars side by side, you will find that in AD 30, when Christ was about 33 years old, most likely, maybe 34 by then because he was born in about 4 BC, believe it or not, from that time, you can find out what day he died.
Why we do what we do? Why do we follow the calendar that we follow? Why do we follow the holidays that we follow? That is going to be a topic where I will be getting into many different subjects and not just religious subjects. I will dig into topics like why do we follow certain days? Why do we have certain superstitions? What is Friday the 13th, and why do we think it is an unlucky day when actually Friday the 13th is not unlucky at all to America? Friday the 13th or the number 13 is actually the number for America, and Friday is the sixth day of creation when man was created so this is the number of man…of man’s world.
Man was created on a Friday, believe it or not.
This is an example of a topic that I will be getting into later this week, well, maybe, but definitely all the way through the next few months of our shows I will definitely dig into this topic. I think you will be absolutely blown out of your mind to learn why we have certain traditions, why we have certain beliefs, why we think things happened that did not happen, misconceptions we have about the Declaration of Independence, about the United States Constitution, about our forefathers, about what happened during the Civil War, what happened, what is the real plain truth about World War I and World War II, and what is happening today. There are a lot of misconceptions in the world, and why we do what we do is something that we really need to study. You need to know why you do what you do because that is when you can decide if you’re going to continue doing it on an informed basis, or you can say, you know what, I am not going to be a part of this pawn of Satan’s world. By the way, we are in Satan’s world.
So that’s a quick wrap-up of what the upcoming shows are going to be about, some of them anyway. Christmas week, we will not have as many live broadcasts. We’ll probably have a lot of YouTube videos explaining things. I will have maybe a few shorts, and then there will be some rebroadcasts of these programs, or my programs as well.
26:32 So let’s have a good week! If you guys still celebrate Christmas, have a great Christmas. Maybe after you watch some of these programs, you may not be so inclined to follow Christmas in the future, but if you’re a traditionalist, and you only like tradition and you don’t really care what God thinks about it, then you’ll probably continue to follow Christmas.
Most people who learn the plain truth about Christmas still continue to follow it based on how they were brought up. They don’t really challenge their beliefs…a lot of people just don’t want to challenge their beliefs.
Anyway, I hope you all have a good day, and a safe day, and we’ll be back here at 7:11 tonight with another program. This is Bob Barney with The Plain Truth Today saying, thank you for listening.
