The Plain Truth is so Happy That You Have Been Enjoying Bob’s Broadcasts.
2000 years ago, a newscaster that we know of as Jesus Christ warned us about false Christianity. The warning was not against the devil but against false Christianity…about people who come in His name and deceive many.

This coming Sabbath day, we are going to have two special shows, the morning Sabbath show and then the entertainment show for the evening time. We always do a short story or a video. Last week we broadcasted a movie, about the Corrie Ten Boom story called The Hiding Place. This was a longer featured movie compared to most. We put the whole thing up and it didn’t look like we had that many viewers. It looked like maybe three or four, but that means that three or four more people could see the real story about people who died in the name of Jesus Christ saving Jews from the Nazis in World War II.
We’re never going to have a big audience. I already know that, but I’m doing what I believe is what God’s will is, that you should be informed about things that normally the mainstream media and all the mainstream TV shows just don’t want to inform you about.
With that said, this coming Sabbath day, we’re going to have the story about the King James Bible and the story of the Bible in general. Then we’re also going to have the documentary about William Tyndale for the 7:11 evening time movie.
I just wanted to get a chance earlier in this week to talk about the Bible, William Tyndale, the Bible, the English Bible, and you, because today many take a lot of things for granted.
For example, you take your iPhone for granted, and especially if you’re young enough, you don’t even remember not having an iPhone in your life. Well, I remember not having an iPhone. I remember not having a cell phone. I remember going back to the days where you had a CB in a car if you had that, and your home phone was the only way people could get a hold of you, and actually in business back in like 1979, people had beepers because that’s how you got a hold of somebody. You beep somebody with your telephone number, and they would stop at a payphone and call you. I bet you there are people today in the United States of America that have never seen a payphone and maybe don’t even know what a payphone is. Back then, you used to get off an airplane in an airport, and you would walk by literally a hundred payphones on the way to the rampway to get your car or to find a taxicab.
There’s not a payphone to be found anymore.
You would go to a restaurant. There’d be a payphone in a restaurant. You would go to a gas station. There would be a payphone in the gas station. On the city green or on the side of the post office, you would see a payphone. Well, today, because of cell phones, you don’t see payphones anymore. So, there are many things we take for granted. You take for granted, for example, that you can go to the supermarket, and you can buy peaches all year round. Well, you couldn’t do that back in the 1960s, even the 1970s or the 1980s, until the world trade, where they found the peach crop that goes all the way around the world. So your peaches in one time of the year comes from Georgia. One time comes from California. Then later on, it comes from maybe Australia or even South America or maybe some African country who happens to be growing peaches.
I’m not an expert on peaches but the point that I am making is that you couldn’t find 25 years ago, what you can find today…we take this type of a thing for granted.
Well, the biggest thing most take for granted is the very Bible that is sitting somewhere in our homes. Why? Because 85% of all American homes have a Bible which is what the statistics said that I just looked it up this morning.75% to 80% of homes have a Bible and probably 95% of the people in those homes have never even looked at or read that Bible. If they did you know, a few pages were read and put down.
That’s why whenever I buy Bibles at auctions and I do buy a lot of Bibles, some of them are 200 or 300 years old, a lot of them look like they’ve never been read. If you buy a Bible from the 1960s, 70s or 80s, for example, a really nice-looking Bible, I can guarantee you almost every page has never been opened.
People have the Bibles, but they don’t read them and on top of that, people don’t realize the blood that is all over your King James Bible.
No, you don’t see that blood but the blood of the people that brought you that Bible is what is being taken for granted.
You see, within the Catholic Church, it was a death penalty to transcribe the Bible, the Latin Vulgate Bible, into any other language. It was even against the law, if you were a lay person, to have even a Catholic Bible in your possession. If you did, you wouldn’t be killed for that, but you would be severely punished. If you had an English version of a New Testament or a Bible, or in one case, a little girl that had the Lord’s Prayer in English, our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, in English, her father was killed, burned at the stake, because she had that prayer in English and not in Latin. He would have been severely whipped, by the way, if he even had it in Latin, because he was a lay person. That was the state, less than 500 years ago, that the entire civilized or so-called civilized world was living under.
To the people like William Tyndale and Martin Luther, the people who rebelled against the Catholic Church, and in the case of William Tyndale, who made an English Bible…he was the very first person to make an English copy of the New Testament…and The Torah, the first five books of the Moses, later on the Judges, the second part of the Bible, and he was the one who had smuggled them into England. 30, 40, 50,000 copies believe it or not. People were hungrily wanting to buy them. What happened to him for doing so? He was called a heretic and was finally found out and it was discovered where his location was as he was betrayed by a so-called friend. This ‘friend’ who was a traitor…and William was arrested and was burned at the stake. Now, because he was a scholar, he was allowed to be strangled to death before they burned him at the stake. His prayer that he was allowed to give as his last speech at that stake before he was strangled, was, God open the eyes of the king. Within 10 years, King Henry’s eyes were opened, and a Bible was printed in English. What no one knew at the time was that Bible was the Bible written by William Tyndale. What you just learned right now, most people do not know, that almost 60 percent of the King James version of the Bible is William Tyndale’s translation.
Look forward to it Saturday. This is Bob Barney for The Plain Truth Today. Thank you for listening.
