Hi, Bob Barney for the Plain Truth Today brought to you by theplaintruth.com. Several years
ago when I first started this broadcast, and I really can’t find it, but I did a program about how
God is just amazed how we just do not believe in God and what God can do. And before I really
get into this subject, I just want to say is the plaintruth.com is a news website. We’re not a
religion.
We’re not trying to teach religions. We do talk about what’s in the Bible, because what’s in the
Bible is news. And what’s in the Bible is not only history, but it’s present day news.
And it’s also how you should live, like it’s a life section of the news. It’s a health section that you
watch local news, and there’s always a health report. And it’s the future news, because
prophecy is nothing more than tomorrow’s headlines today.
You can read it today, and you know what’s going to happen tomorrow. It’s one of the reasons
why I say over and over again in these programs, and people who listen every day probably
think I say it too much, but we do have new people listening every day. But it’s why I say that
you have to understand that when you’re reading the Bible, most of it is prophecy, and most of
it is tomorrow’s headlines, because it has not occurred yet.
And so if you know who the people are of the Bible, if you know what nation is what today,
because many of the Bible nations mentioned in the Bible, those countries do not exist by that
name today. They have different names, modern names, and we do not associate that they are
really referring to countries that were mentioned back in the Bible under biblical names of the
time. One such example I give all the time is the nation or the empire of Assyria.
Assyria is the modern day Germanic peoples that settled in Germany. And when Assyria
captured the northern ten tribes of Israel, and that was the tribes that belonged to Joseph,
Ephraim, and Manasseh, that they were taken into Assyria as captives. And then the
Babylonians basically attacked the Assyrian empire.
And think of Assyria as modern day Iraq, and Babylonia as modern day Iran, and they attacked
each other as they do today. But the people in Iraq are not the Assyrians of your Bible. Those
Assyrians with captive Israelis fled from the Babylonians, and they went up through the
Caucasus mountains.
I’ve said this many times, that’s where we get the word Caucasian from, and they ended up in
eastern and western Europe. And so the modern day Germanic nation is really the nation of
Assyria. So if you see future prophecies that have not yet occurred mentioned in Assyria, then
you should be aware it’s talking about Germany.
For example, again, if you see a prophecy, like say in Isaiah, about the tribe of Ephraim, it’s
talking about the United States of America. I know many people have a hard time believing it,
but it does. And that’s the thing we’re going to talk about.
People who have a hard time believing what’s in or even the power of God. We try to limit the
power of God. And I got news for you.
Most religions try to limit God’s power for their power. They gain respectability and power by
telling you things God cannot do in order to get control of your mind. And so they limit the
power of God.
And like I said, most Christian religions do so things. How many times have you heard that God
cannot do this, or God cannot do this, or God will not do this, but that’s not necessarily the
truth. And this happened, I don’t know how many times in the Bible.
I did a brief research before we started this program, and there’s so many pages with the same
words from God that you can’t read them all. But the topic that I looked up was, is there
anything too hard for God to do? And it always amazed God in the Bible, when you read these
passages, that God is limited. And this starts, you can start this in the New Testament.
The God of the Old Testament, the God of David, David’s Lord was none other than Jesus Christ.
The God who made Adam and Eve was Jesus Christ. You can prove this by reading just the first
chapter of John, the first chapter of John, and you will see the identity of Jesus Christ and what
his position in the Godhead was, and that he, Jesus Christ that is, created everything.
He created the heavens and the earth and everything in them. He created Adam and Eve. He
was the God that talked to Adam and Eve.
And so we go into the New Testament, and Jesus is going around doing miracles, trying to
impress people about the mission that he had. And he comes across a guy who comes up to
him, and he’s got a boy who is demon-possessed. And he says to Jesus, you know, since he was
a child, the spirit world, meaning the demons, would try to kill him, and they would throw him
into the fire or into the water, trying to kill his body.
Please help us if you can. And Jesus’ response is so overwhelmingly funny, in a way it is. He says
in Mark 9 23, if you want to look it up, what do you mean if I can? Because again, the God who
created this world, who created heaven and earth, who created all those stars, you can’t count,
and all the universal physical laws of gravity, and just all kinds of laws that control the universe,
that he’s being told by a guy, please help us if you can.
Because Jesus knew he could, and he just amazed that people would question him. But it’s not
new for him, because through the Old Testament, he constantly says the same thing over and
over again. In Jeremiah, well, look, we’ll start with Genesis chapter 18, and it says, is anything
too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, and about next time Sarah will
have a son.
Well, that’s the famous story of 99, maybe 98 or 99 at the time, Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah,
they’re barren, she’s barren, she has no children. Abraham only has one son, Lot, from a
concubine, not a legal wife, that was given to him by Sarah to have a baby for her, because she
was barren. But then one night, God appeared to Abraham, and we don’t know if it was a vision
or it literally appeared to him, because we know at certain times, God did appear to him literally
as a person.
And I’ll get into that in a minute as well. But he goes and prays to God, and God answers him
that he will have a son next year at the same time. And Abraham laughs, which most people
don’t record or know that’s recorded, that Abraham laughed before Sarah did, and their son’s
name, Isaac, just happens to mean laughed, that Abraham could not believe that he at that age,
and Sarah especially at that age, could have a son.
But then God says to him, is there anything too hard for the Lord? He just couldn’t believe it.
Even his best friend Abraham had doubts. And we see this again in Jeremiah chapter 32, 27.
Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Again, we got to remember, this is Jesus Christ
speaking, this is not God the Father. If you want to read this for yourself, you can go to the
book of John.
I won’t tell you where to find it, but you can go to the book of John. And in three instances, I
believe three instances, you’re going to hear Jesus make this statement, that this statement just
blows the mind of Christians today who just simply can’t understand it, or they don’t want to
read it. And he says, no man has ever seen the Father, or heard his voice at any time.
Well, we know that Adam and Eve heard the voice of God, and talked to God. We also know
Abraham met with God, had a meal with God, and talked to God. We know Moses saw God, he
saw God in his glory, for that matter.
And David saw God. So logically, you know that the God that they were talking to, and they
were seeing, and they were communicating with, was the God who became in the Godhead,
Jesus Christ, the man who walked this earth as our Savior. God in man to save us from our sins.
Because the guy who created us, or the God really, I should say, who created us and everything
there is, his life is more valuable than the entire universe. And so therefore, him dying for the
sins of the universe cleanses all who want to partake in that cleansing. And that’s what the
Gospels are.
And I’m going to get back to more of, is anything too hard for the Lord to do after this brief
time out about the plain truth? And we’re going to go in again, as I mentioned a few years ago,
just what it means to God that we don’t believe him. Hi, Bob Barney for the Plain Truth, and the
Plain Truth Today broadcast. The place to go to find out what’s happening in today’s news that
really matters to you, because a lot of the stuff that you watch or you read in their papers really
do not matter to you.
But some things do, and the Plain Truth’s job is to try to point out those things that matter to
you, and what it matters to you, your friends, your family, and your future. That’s
theplaintruth.com. Please go there every day. And we’re back with, is there anything too hard
for the Lord to do? However, we live in a world today of science and technology and
modernism, and it’s very easy for people to start doubting, first of all, the existence of God, or
even if they believe in some kind of godly type being, they don’t really want to personalize what
that God is, even though the Bible explains what the God is.
And I would say many people in the United States, especially in the Western world, most of the
people listening to this broadcast, they have a hard time believing in the God of the Bible. They
have a hard time believing that the Bible is accurate. You have famous people like Bill O’Reilly,
who writes a book about killing Jesus, an expert on Jesus, who makes the statement that the
Bible is a bunch of fairy tales.
It’s not really meant to be taken literally. It’s all meant to be taken symbolically, and nothing
that the Bible did or said really happened. He doesn’t believe in a Noah’s Ark.
He doesn’t believe in an Adam and Eve, even though science proves that all human existence
came from a single father and a single mother by DNA. And you can look that up if you don’t
want to believe me, but it’s the plain truth that we can prove scientifically that every animal
created on this earth today, every animal that’s living, has a common ancestor, a single mother
and a single father by our DNA testing. And it’s just, again, there’s a song, and I talk about this
all the time on a side note.
I’m going off topic here, but on a side note, there’s a song. I believe it was written by Roy Acoff,
or at least he’s the first one to sing it. And he’s the only one that ever sings the full song.
It’s a very meaningful song. Johnny Cash has sung it, and other bigger stars have sung it over
the years. But there is a line in it where it talks about the great speckled bird.
That is the name that Isaiah gives the Word of God, the Bible, and the Church of God, the great
speckled bird. And one of the lines of that song is, they long to find fault with her teachings,
meaning they long to find fault with the teachings of the Bible. But really, they find no mistakes.
And I found that a long time ago, even with my own searching, trying to disprove what was in
the Bible. I was positive that the Bible was full of fairy tales, and that the Bible disagreed with
itself, and the Bible disproved itself. And what happened is you start reading the Bible as a
book, and do not read it as a religion, and do not think that this doesn’t mean this.
If it says up is up and down is down, guess what? Up is not down, and down is not up. But that
is what people who try to explain most of the Bible away, like Bill O’Reilly, do, and they limit the
power of God. And again, this is the biggest mistake we can make as a people.
All this program is to tell you is if you go to prayer, all you have to do is go to God in prayer. You
don’t have to know how to pray. You don’t have to know what to talk about.
You just have a conversation with God. Now, when I do it, I try to go to a place where people
can’t see me. I go to a park by a lake in where I am now.
Back in 1980, when I was doing it in Florida, and I had just moved to Florida, I was doing on the
Jack, I’m sorry, the Jackie Gleason golf course in Inverary near Fort Lauderdale. But I would
always make sure that people were watching me, because people see you talking to yourself, or
they think you’re talking to yourself, they’re going to probably want you committed. But I’m
saying right now, if you are listening to this program, and you have doubts, you don’t know
what to do, start talking to God.
And when you do that, you know what you’re going to find out? Not going to happen right
away. It may, it may, but some people, I am always amazed by some of people who talk to God
and have answers right away. I never have, but I’m not doubting their sincerity.
I think God comes to the people that God realizes needs help instantly, or tragedy is going to
fall. So maybe he does answer those people a lot quicker than me. I have been answered quite
quickly when it’s been matters of life and death praying to God.
But we see a question. Jesus was talking to his disciples and was talking about salvation and
how hard it was for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of God to find eternal life and
salvation. And of course, his disciples are kind of a little worried because they want to be rich.
They want to make money. That’s what fishermen want to do. They want to make a good living.
And so they say to him, after he tells about it, it’s easier. And I’m going to give you the true
translation, which if you get the Bible, the plain truths Bible with Jesus’s words in red, in both
the Old and the New Testament, you will see this, this explanation. Jesus says it is easier for the
camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich person to enter into the kingdom of
heaven.
Well, if you take that literal, and here I’m saying it’s not symbolic, but it’s always taken literal,
but it is. If you understand the original language it was written in, you would realize it’s
impossible for a camel to go through a needle’s eye. And so that would lead you to come to the
conclusion it was impossible for any rich person to find salvation.
Well, the richest person in the world, probably, believe it or not, the single richer, the Elon Musk
of his day was Abraham. He was wealthy beyond measure. Yet we know Abraham made it.
He’s a rich man that passed through that needle. So what does the original wording really
mean? Well, it turns out, and I have a book, the original New Testament in the original
languages that it was written in, and it turns out that what Jesus was referring to was camel
hair. Camel hair is very, very thick.
It’s one of the hardest fabrics to needle work together because it’s so thick, and it’s really
complicated and hard, especially if you’re kind of older and have poor eyesight, to get that thick
camel hair thread through a small eyelet of a needle. But it can be done, or you wouldn’t have
John wearing a camel hair coat, would you? So it’s done, but it’s very hard to do it. So what Jesus
was saying was that it’s hard and very hard, but it can be done.
But the disciples came to him, and they’re horrified. They’re thinking we haven’t made it, and
they’re probably right, as things are. None of us have made it.
But Jesus said this, with man, this is impossible, finding salvation, that is. But with God, all
things are possible. Almost another way of saying, is there anything too hard for me to do? And
what that statement is, is the greatest hope you and I have.
We cannot earn our way to salvation. We cannot do anything that pleases God. We are an
animal.
One of the mistranslations of the King James version that people make to this day, thinking we
have an immortal soul, which we don’t, was the word, man became a living soul, in the first
chapter of Genesis, should not be rendered that. And newer Bibles know that. Man became,
when God made man out of the dust of the earth, man became a living creature, a living being,
an animal.
A good way to say it is, man became a living animal. And you can read in many other chapters
of the Bible, where there is no difference in the flesh of a man and an animal. As one breathes,
so breathes the other.
As one dies, so dieth the other. In Ezekiel, and Jesus quotes it in the New Testament, that the
soul, the nephesh, the soul, the creature that sins, that soul will die. There is no such thing as
an immortal soul.
God can kill your soul in a hellfire at any time that God wants to. And so we cannot please God
by trying to be good. We want to try to be good in order to live a life that God wants us to for
our own salvation and our own purity.
But the truth is we will always fall short. And that’s the comforting words in Matthew 19.26.
With man, it’s impossible. With God, all things are possible.
I’ll be right back. Hi, Bob Barney for the Plain Truth today. The broadcast three times a day,
Monday through Friday, 7.11 a.m. Noontime, usually I do the noontime show, but sometimes
we have other people.
And 7.11 p.m. And 7.11 a.m. sometimes is the best of Bob. 7.11 p.m. is usually a YouTube video
news program or history program. But on Wednesday nights, we do have a Western feature.
And on Saturday nights at 7.11 p.m., we have either a short story or a movie or a television
show from the past. Saturday, we only have two shows, 7.11 a.m., and it’s always a Sabbath
type show to study God’s Word. And 7.11 p.m. is always the entertainment for Saturday night or
the Sabbath night.
And Sunday, we only have one show at 7.11 a.m., and that’s usually an hour or longer show, not
me usually, of someone wrapping up the news of the week. So, you get another perspective.
That’s all found on the Plain Truth Today broadcast, and you get there by going to
theplaintruth.com. This is Bob Barney, and I do thank you for listening and going to the website
every day.
We’re growing all the time. I don’t think we’re ever going to be a major one, but there are
people that are interested in what we’re doing. Well, we’re back after that commercial about us,
theplaintruth.com. I do hope you tell your friends about this program.
I think we do a good job for what we do with the low budget we have, but you don’t have to
worry about one thing. You don’t have to worry about me begging for money. You don’t have
to worry about me saying, you got to give me money or God’s going to take me off the air,
because if I run out of money, God is going to take me off the air, and that would be God’s will,
because nothing’s impossible for God.
If God wants this broadcast to continue, it will continue, and I’ll find the money through our
businesses that support this show and The Plain Truth in general. But I am not ever going to
ask for donations. We are not a church, and I’m never going to ask you to have to buy anything.
The only exception to that is the Bible we published, and we did that through Amazon. I think
we make $2 a Bible. There’s five of them that make up the whole Old and New Testament, five
different volumes, very in-depth with all kinds of notes and footnotes, almost about every line
in the Bible.
That’s why it’s so big, but we didn’t publish it ourselves. We couldn’t afford to do that, and we
had Amazon do it. You can go to Amazon, you can order it, and we get $2 a volume, and they
get the main price of the volume.
So that’s the only thing that you would ever invest on, and it really is not bringing us any
money. That’s not why we do so. I spent a lot of time trying to do a Bible for people who do not
really understand the Word of God, how to read it simply, understand what it’s really saying,
and put it to practical use.
That’s the whole purpose of it. But we’re going to go on about, is anything too hard for the Lord
to do? And today, let’s bring this to today. How many of us, and I’m included just to let you
know, I’m not some special person, some holy roller here that never, you know, like you listen
to these people sometimes on the radio or watch them on TV, they basically come across that
they’re perfect human beings, and they don’t really need Jesus Christ, because they’ve already
made their own salvation, and you need to be seen with them, giving them money in order for
you to be accepted by God to go to heaven, even though you’re not going there.
But so many of us today do, even those who believe in the real God, Jesus Christ is the Savior,
and God the Father as the power of God, the big kahuna in heaven is God the Father and Jesus
Christ. Those two make up the Godhead. They are made of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is not a third member of a Godhead. But the thing about it is, today’s society
makes it very hard to literally believe in every word of the Bible. I was there.
I was an atheist for a long time in my teenage years, into my early 20s, when I started listening,
and I do not hide who I was listening to, I started listening to the Garner Ted Armstrong
program in 1975, and I was given questions. The show made me look things up to disprove
what the man was saying, because I did not want to go with the type of what I saw, weird
religion he was preaching. But when I started looking at everything, I realized what I thought
was in the Bible wasn’t, and what I thought was hearsay or nonsense or fairy tales were not.
Then, little by little, and it’s a lifetime, you’re looking at a guy with about 50 some years now,
learning every day to this day that it’s a lifelong journey, but it starts with trusting in Jesus
Christ, that trust that what he says is the plain truth. The whole idea of this program is named
The Plain Truth. I know Ben Franklin is the one that started The Plain Truth originally, and that
was about the Revolutionary War, but I love the name.
I know that the Armstrongs had that as their magazine, but they were a church, and this is not
a church. I decided The Plain Truth should be a combination of what Ben Franklin tried to do
and what the Armstrongs tried to do, and that is give a news show that’s based upon the Bible,
because the Bible is the greatest news source you will ever come across. It is the great
predictor of tomorrow’s headlines.
It’s better than anybody that you’re ever going to listen to on the news at night. If you don’t
have a very good understanding of the Bible, you’re not going to really understand what’s
important for you, your family, and the future. That’s the whole purpose of this program.
You have to start, and this is through reading the Bible and also reading other information, a
lot of it you can find from The Plain Truth, of proof of the Bible, proof of things that happened
that we never thought did happen. Archeology every month is finding a new thing or a new
artifact that proves a passage of the Bible. Like the song said, they long to find fault with their
teaching, but really she makes no mistakes, and if you can get to, and it’s going to take a while,
it did me, I hope it doesn’t take you, but it’s going to take a while, where someday you’re going
to wake up and think this to yourself.
There is nothing too hard for God to do. God can save me as wretched as I am, as sinful as I am,
I’ve done what I think is the unpardonable sin, and if you think you so, you didn’t do it, and I
don’t think I have any hope for salvation. I’m a miserable, rotten human being.
God help me, and if you say that, God will help you. God does not call everybody right now, but
God will also answer you if he’s calling you or not, but you just probably don’t understand when
you’re being answered. I’ve gone through it.
There was a funny movie, I can’t remember the name, with Steve Martin, where he’s looking for
a sign from God, and the picture starts shaking on the wall and falls to the ground, and he
walks away and says, see, I never get an answer from God, and that is all of us. We sometimes
don’t see the answers we’re getting from God, but if you go to God with sincerity and say, I
need to understand, I want to be called, I want to be one of the few elect, I sincerely do, and
maybe you haven’t called me, but like that lady begging for Jesus to heal her daughter, and she
was not Jewish, Jesus said to her quite rudely, it is not right for me to take the food from the
children and give it to the dogs. He’s calling her and her daughter a dog, because she was a
Samaritan, and she said, yes, but even the dogs can eat the crumbs that fall from the children’s
table, and he was amazed by her faith.
She was not called. She called herself by her faith and her belief that nothing was too
impossible for God to do, including saving the daughter of a hated Samaritan, and he did so,
and that’s what I’m trying to say to you right now. He’ll do it for you.
He’s done it for me. He’ll continue to do it for you. I think, and I hope, pray he always does it for
me, but that’s the show for today.
It’s just a little show to try to raise people’s awareness that there is a God. The God is God the
Father, Jesus Christ. They’re made of the Holy Spirit, and you can force them to listen to you.
They will. Bob Barney for The Plain Truth today. Thank you very much for listening.
Bye-bye.
