DEI and EOE Code Words for What is Destroying America…From Post Office to Amtrak (Transcript)

Under the Biden administration, we all know about this DEI stuff that’s going on. I used to call it EOE, equal opportunity employment. It’s all the same thing. It’s hiring people based on their color or their race or their ethnic origin, or worse yet, if they’re a queer or not, or transvestite. This is what’s going on today. What you have are people who can’t do the job, and they are getting the job just because they can check a box. – Bob Barney

I think one of the most refreshing things that we’ve heard about from the incoming Trump administration is Elon Musk’s task of cutting waste and fraud and abuse from government spending.

Hi, this is Bob Barney with The Plain Truth Today, and I want to talk about an important topic. The question is this…can we cut enough off of the government spending to really make a difference in our deficit?

I believe the answer is yes.

We have a $7 trillion a year budget, and they say 80% of that budget cannot be touched because it’s already earmarked. They say it is earmarked to go to Social Security, the military, and whatnot. However, if you take 20% then of $7 trillion, you’re still looking at $1.4 trillion that possibly can be cut, and we need to be seriously looking at this.

2:57 In today’s program, I want to talk about certain agencies that I think we need to really take a look at privatizing and getting them off of the government dole. There are several, but the first one is the post office. There is no bigger fan of the post office than I am. I think the post office is a good deal. A stamp, even though it’s gone up five times in the last three years, is still a good deal. When you compare that with sending an envelope through FedEx or UPS, there’s just a great deal of money to be saved when you use the post office.

For the most part, in my experience, the post office has been always filled with very good people, but that’s not the case today. This is my own personal experience I’m talking about, but I bet those of you across the country can attest that I’m not the only one experiencing what’s happening now.

3:45 Under the Biden administration, we all know about this DEI stuff that’s going on.

The other morning, my wife was watching, I think it was Fox News, and they were talking about a guy who wanted to be a firefighter in LA, and they told him it was a seven-year wait because he was white.

4:34 He’s standing in line after seven years, and there’s this young 18-year-old girl behind him. He goes, well, how long ago could you have applied? She goes, oh, last week, because she was already included without having to wait seven years. They don’t want any more white men being firefighters and as the city burns to the ground, you can’t feel sorry for anybody that’s running a government like that or feel sorry when there are people voting for people that run a government like that.

The post office has always, in my opinion, and I’ve dealt with the post offices in Connecticut and Florida and North Carolina and Virginia, they’ve always been very good personnel for the most part. I’ve always had good luck with them. I think it’s a reasonable fee for a stamp to send a letter. I still do. I understand most people don’t send bills and letters out anymore, but they’re still things that you use the post office for.

6:56 When you live out in the country like I do, you get a lot of stuff from eBay or from Amazon or online sites. A lot of them, if it’s not hazmat-type stuff or heavy-type stuff, they send it through the mail, through the post office. You go to the post office, you sign for it if it’s something worth of a value, or you just get it out of your post box or out of your mailbox. It’s a pretty handy thing, and it comes right to your home, for that matter, without these big costs of a UPS or a FedEx. Some things happened under the Biden administration, and we all know what this is. This is what I was getting on about with this DEI, which is what they call it today…this is the nonsense that’s going on.

It started with my home post office where I live, and they replaced the person that was the postmaster there with someone who is a DEI hire. This woman, a way overweight woman, the first thing that happened when she took over her job was that everyone in that post office that worked for her left and quit in disgust because she’s lazy, she refuses to work, and she does nothing but abuse people. What happened is that the mail stopped being delivered, and we would literally go five, six, seven days, sometimes a week or more without any mail being delivered. We physically had to go to the post office itself and ask for our mail and our packages, and then be standing in a line of 20, 30 people because everyone else is not getting mail either.  This is just not acceptable.

Then where I work is in another town, which has a phenomenal post office. I know all the women that work there. They’re very good. They know me. They watch out for my packages that come in, and all of a sudden, we get the same DEI postmaster there. You have to start thinking there is a plot here.

What’s the first thing this woman does in Wakefield?  Listen to this. She takes full-time employees…one woman’s been there 16 years and the other woman’s been there 20 years…they’re both ready to retire in about a year or two. She takes their 40-hour work weeks, and she gives them 16 hours each. They work two days a week. Who in this economy can afford to work two days a week? The reason she does this is because they are white, and she wants them to quit. The post office seems to be for it because these people are near pension time. They just want these people out the door, and it’s not right. When you go there now, the post office is often closed. When they’re not working, and this woman’s there all by herself, she doesn’t want to work either, so the place remains closed a lot of the time.

Now, all of a sudden, you can’t get your mail into two places, one where I work and one where I live, and it’s unacceptable.

Then the worst scam comes later on because all of a sudden, after not getting mail for a week recently…it is Thanksgiving Day, my wife and I are sitting out on the porch, and we see the mail truck deliver the mail on Thanksgiving Day! Now, we didn’t get it for a week before then, but on Thanksgiving Day, we get the mail, and then for the next four or five days, it is back to not getting our mail delivered. Then Christmas Day guess who shows up? We see the person drive up to our mailbox and deliver the mail on Christmas Day. Then the same thing cycles again and on New Year’s Eve they show up and we have no mail since Christmas time. There was so much mail that they actually had it in a plastic bag to hang on the outside of the mailbox. Low and behold, guess who was driving the delivery truck? The postmaster now is the one that’s delivering you the mail!

10:34 Now, why would the postmaster be delivering the mail on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day? Well, I think the answer is quite obvious, and if you don’t know what that answer is, I can let you in on a secret. It’s because they’re probably being paid double time, or even triple time because it is a holiday. Probably it’s triple time. They’re probably making $100, $200 an hour, and they’re just scamming the system, and that’s what’s going on. They’re scamming the system, and they’re making sure that they rape the American public out of their hard-earned money, and we wonder why the post office is losing money.

I think the answer is quite clear why the post office is losing money, is it not?

It’s because of people like this that get these jobs. They have no qualifications except their race or gender or something like that, and they get these jobs that they cannot do. They don’t care if they can do them or not, and they rape the system out of its money. I read a report one time as my wife and I like to take Amtrak when we go to our Florida location. We used to like to take the Amtrak auto train and get a car, and I read a report one time that a hamburger costs like $12 or $15 just for ONE hamburger on an Amtrak, but for every hamburger they sell, they lose like $12.

12:32 You think, how in the world can it be that you’re selling a hamburger for $12 or $15 and still losing $12?

A hamburger doesn’t cost that kind of money, and it’s because when you start talking to the people, they make big money. They have such high cost in their goods that nobody buys it. The reason they can’t make money selling a hamburger because a train of 400 people, they only sell them 20 hamburgers on a trip because nobody’s going to pay that kind of money for a hamburger, and they all bring their own meals with them. If they’re in a sleeper car, they get their meals as part of their ticket, which is very expensive, by the way, an auto train ticket. If you’re in a sleeper car, it costs a lot of money. Amtrak loses millions and millions of dollars. This is the kind of nonsense that I hope Elon Musk and company can look into and get rid of. I think if we’re going to spend that kind of money on Amtrak or the post office, what we need to do is subsidize private enterprise to take it over. I’m not saying we should allow train service to go away. In fact, I think we need much more train service. We need the post office. It’s in the Constitution. The post office is actually spelled out in the United States Constitution that we have to have a post office, but it doesn’t mean we have to have it as a non-privatized entity with government control. That seems to me to be the way to go here with the post office. Then you have people that if they don’t work and if they don’t do things the right way, you fire them, and you get rid of them, and you put the right people in charge.

The same thing with the rails. We could go to Norfolk Southern or Union Pacific or Southern Pacific and say, you run the passenger service, you run the Amtrak for us again, and we will subsidize it to a degree, but you’re going to have to make it profitable. Granted, the railroads wanted to get rid of the train service in the past because they couldn’t make money, but at the same time, they couldn’t make money because the government wasn’t trying to help them in any way to make money, and there is no way that you can run a train system, a rail system, and make money. You’re going to be able to do it with subways. You’re going to be able to do it with Metro North running out of New York to Connecticut and Upper New York State, that kind of deal, because people are working in New York City, and they’re making a lot of money, and they want to live in the suburbs. For the most part, most train travel is not going to make money for the railroad, so you’re going to have to subsidize it in order to make the railroads happen.

Why do you want the railroads to happen?

The reason would be to get the congestion off the highways, because our highways are a congested mess in many of these big cities, and so if you were to put the rail system, Amtrak, in a private enterprise, and you were to help them with their cost, and you were to put them under proper oversight, then you would have a rail system that could rival Europe for petty sakes.

When you go to Europe. you can take the rail all over the place with a set fee for a monthly payment, and move around at 120, 150 miles an hour. In the United States, except for the one corridor that goes between Boston and Washington, D.C., the maximum I believe that an Amtrak passenger train can travel is 79 miles an hour on a freight track. Believe me, as someone who’s been on quite a few trains over the last 20 years, I’ll tell you right now, they’re not a very comfortable ride when you ride on freight rail that is made for freight cars because freight cars usually don’t worry about how smooth the ride is.

So, this is the kind of stuff that our government is lacking in, and we really have to look into to find a different answer. There are all kinds of significant improvements we could make and save money whilst providing government services.

I’ll give you an example for something at the local level. I have shared this before; my wife and I have a paint company where we manufacture automotive and fleet paint. We make paint for cars, trucks, boats, airplanes, stuff like that. Well, you know, 25, 35 years ago, most counties, for example, painted their own school buses, their own police cars. They had their own police garage, or they had a single body shop repair shop for all the town or county equipment, whether it be for the buses, pickup trucks or whatever, and they would do their own maintenance.

17:49 Also, a lot of the places have bus service for their senior citizens or just a bus service in general, like big cities like New York or Richmond, Virginia or Norfolk, Virginia has…places like that, or Miami, Florida, and they have bus service. They have their own bus garage that would paint the buses. About 25 years ago, more and more cities and more and more counties throughout the United States realized, you know, if we sent the buses off to repair stations or paint shops that were not ours, but they were owned by private entity, and they gave us, let’s say, they’re going to say, we’re going to paint this bus for $5,000 and we’ll provide the paint. Well, it turns out when the people that ran the county governments was to put the pencil to the paper, they realized that when they sent the bus out to get painted, they had a fixed cost. Let’s say it was $5,000. They knew for $5,000, they were going to get this bus painted. Now, when they had it in-house, they had to buy the paint, maybe that was $1,000, $2,000 at the most while they also had people on staff. Instead of painting one or two buses a day, they were painting one or two buses a month. So when they figured out what was the actual cost to paint that bus with our own employees, well, it turned out it was $10,000, $15,000 at times. That’s why a lot of counties started, and this is probably 30 years ago, they started subbing out their paint work to independent body shops that were specialized in doing fleet work. They painted for Walmart, and they painted for other trucking companies, and they started painting the city garbage trucks and they started painting the school buses and they started painting all the police cars. They found out they saved thousands and tens of thousands and in many cases in your big cities, they saved millions of dollars. That is what the federal government has to think about doing. They have to think about subbing out a lot of things under the same idea that they did NASA.

For example, I remember after the Challenger blew up and they were asking John Glenn about that tragedy, and he said, well, you have to remember one thing when you’re an astronaut…you’re sitting on a hundred thousand pounds of TNT provided by the lowest bidder. That’s how NASA got to the moon. They got to the moon through private enterprise. They didn’t make their own rockets. They didn’t paint their own stuff. They depended on private companies to do it for a fee. In their case, it was the lowest bidder. These astronauts like John Glenn saying as they are kind of amused, you know, you’re sitting on a rocket that’s a hundred thousand pounds of TNT provided by the lowest bidder.

If that doesn’t kind of make you a little worried, nothing will. But those old astronauts of the 1960s, you know, they had steel nerves.

If you have ever been to Kennedy Space Center and you saw how small even the Apollo space capsule was with three people having been in there…geesh…there was not even room to change your mind…and talk about claustrophobia. I would go nuts to be traveling through space for days at a time to get to the moon…then if something goes wrong, you’re dead. You talk about people that had a lot of nerve. Well, those guys had a lot of nerve. I’ll tell you that right now.

So private enterprise is what is the backbone of American exceptionalism.

FDR was basically a socialist. He was more likely a communist at first. When World War II came along, he really despised the Fords, the GMs, the big companies, the Boeing aircrafts. He thought government should do everything. But you know what he found out in World War II? He found out that the government couldn’t do anything right on their own. He needed the Henry Fords of this world to produce his tanks, his Jeeps, his airplanes.

He does a lot working for the government. So he may be the right person to be able to make the government run efficiently by basically replacing everybody. There is a story.

22:45 When I first moved to the Norfolk region of Virginia, that was during the 1996 government shutdown. With the Navy exchange, the people didn’t go to work so they hired outside purchasing agents to purchase for the Navy. They had this temp in who was this woman who was in charge of buying certain things. She would receive a bill and say well, there’s no invoice for this bill. I’m not going to pay a bill without an invoice. The person said, well, I’ve dealt with the Navy for 22 years or whatever it was. It’s always paid. You pay off the bill, the monthly bill. You don’t pay off the invoice. She refused to do it. She brought it to her Superior. They asked for the invoice. Finally, an invoice showed up and then somebody realized, wait a minute, this invoice doesn’t look right. And then they said there’s no signature on this invoice. Turned out that this person was actually billing the Navy for some 15 or 20 years for a service or goods that he never provided. It was totally bogus, and he was never questioned until some private temporary worker, a bookkeeper who knew how you pay bills found this out. How did this person figure it out? Because she’s in the private sector and knows the procedure for paying an invoice. She caught this huge fraudulent deal that was worth tens of millions of dollars sold to the United States Navy that was never even delivered. Paying off invoices or in this case, a statement. This is what happens when you actually bring in people to run these entities that absolutely know how the private enterprise is supposed to do things!

The government does not work like the private enterprise.

It just does not. It has its own set of lazy type rules. That is where and why there is a lot of waste, fraud, and abuse. I can tell you right now, a lot of the purchase agents for the government, you can think differently if you want to or not, but they’re on the take. They are taking bribes from a lot of these big companies to do business. This is why you see this movement between generals that work for these defense contractors, and they go from the military to the defense contractors and back and forth. And these purchase agents, you know, they get new golf clubs, or they get, they have a seminar in Bermuda, for example, to learn how to use a new computer system.+

24:58 We had a case with our own company where we had one order to the Navy, which was $80,000 cheaper for an order than our competition. We were $80,000 cheaper, yet that purchase agent decided that it was not in his interest, or it was not in the Navy’s interest to buy from a little company that he didn’t know anything about. He basically went with this big company. You know as well as I do, the real reason for that because of grift and corruption, which is permeated through the whole process when you have anything to do with selling to the government. We just pulled out.

We no longer sell to the government because of it.

We do not want anything to do with the government. We don’t want anything to do with the scams that go on with the government. We don’t sell, you know, $1,000 bolts that cost 80 cents at Ace Hardware that you just relabel and sell to the government for these ungodly amounts of monies.

We all saw the stories about the $800 coffee pots on the governmental airplanes and stuff. It happens all the time. There is your waste, fraud and abuse. I’m telling you right now, if people really look into it and they get serious about it, I do believe you can save a trillion to a trillion and a half dollars every year…and get that off the federal budget. That’s a lot of money that will start paying down the debt really quick. It might take 50 years to get this debt going. I discussed this in a program I had recorded a few weeks ago, you don’t have to pay off the debt right away. All companies run with their debts, and they always are taking out loans. That doesn’t hurt you to take out money if you’re making money. What hurts you is when it just keeps going higher and higher and higher and higher through waste, fraud and abuse. That is what we need to stop. The post office is a place that I think has got to be where it starts because I see firsthand what is happening with the post office. I’ve seen it firsthand and it’s happening everywhere where the Democrats and the liberals take over a government agency. They go woke and they go broke.

Anyway, that’s what I have to say about the post office, about private enterprise and doing government’s work and saving a lot of money.

Well, that’s about it for the show today.
