The festival of trumpets and what it means for Christians by Bob  Barney

Hi, Bob Barney for The Plain Truth Today, brought to you by theplaintruth.com, and today is a special day in the holy year of God’s calendar. This is the first day of the seventh month, and it’s the head of all the months. It’s not, as many people believe, the new year as some of the Jews follow.

It is the seventh month. It’s not the first month. The first month, March 20th, is the new year, but the seventh month is the most important month, and it’s the head of the months, because of the fact that it brings in the seventh month, which is the fulfillment of all of the promises that the Old and the New Testament make about the coming Messiah, the redemption of man, our future, the resurrection of the dead, everything that we find in the holy days that we’re supposed to follow.

Throughout the Bible, there are mentions of always trumpets, the sounding of trumpets, and you can find many, and I’m going to play a short audio about explaining the trumpets, but in the Old Testament, you find that the trumpets were blasted before there was a war, a warning of any type, in the announcement of a king, for example, the announcement of a new month. Believe it or not, every new month is a Sabbath day. You can find that in the Old Testament, and on every new month, a trumpet is blown, but the feast of trumpets, which is only on the seventh month, first day of the seventh month, is a special holy day.

The other 11 new months are not their Sabbaths, but they’re not part of the annual holy day festivals that you have with Passover, Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Feast of Tabernacles on a Great Last Day, and of course, the Sabbath day itself. Those are the annual festivals, and today is one of them, and I want to get into really what it means and why it’s important for Christians to understand the holidays that God wants us to follow. God really prohibits us from observing Christmas, for example.

It’s a Christmas time. We always play all of the different prophecies and God’s warnings aboutthose people who wanted to keep following the pagan practices of Baal and how upset God is.God certainly does not want us to follow Easter, and again, you can go to the eighth chapter ofEzekiel, and you can find out an Easter sunrise service and what God thinks about it, and thosepeople doing it, God promises to destroy.

I don’t think that is a very fun thought to think about for those people who think they’re Christians, and they may be Christians, but they’re following pagan practices, and God may forgive you for that. I’m not God. I’m not going to decide, but at the same time, you are not to follow the days of the heathens.

You are to follow God’s holy days, and there’s a reason for it, because in God’s holy days, you find the entire plan of salvation that God puts in front of us. Many people just do not understand that what God is doing, and God is what we call the Father God, and the second is what we would call Jesus Christ, who is also God. The two make up the Godhead as of right now.

They are comprised of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not God. It’s what God is made out of, and what God is doing, and you can see this in the very first chapter of the Bible in Genesis 1, is God is reproducing man after his own kind.

Reread starting in Genesis 1, and we’re going to go all the way down to verse 14, and God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven. Divide the day from the night, and let them be for signs, seasons, days, and years, and we’re following one of these memorial days of the year right now, and on 16, God made the two great lights, the sun and the moon, and we get up to the idea of God bringing forth creatures. Verse 20, and God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creatures that have life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven, and God created great whales and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly after their own kind, every winged fowl after his kind, and God saw that it was good, and he told them to be fruitful, multiply, and multiply the earth, and there was evening and morning, beginning at the end of the fifth day, the beginning of the sixth day, and on the sixth day, he made the beast, and he said, verse 24, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his own kind, the cattle after its own kind, every beast after their own kind, and then we get to 26, where God says, Let us, you notice there’s us, there’s two gods talking here, Let us make man in our image after our likeness, or you could say, after our own kind.

Man was not made after the mankind. Cows, for example, were made after the cow kind, sheep after the sheep kind, and whales after the whale kind, but man was not made in the image of man after the mankind. God actually was made in the image of God and of the God kind.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out right from there what is being talked about. God is reproducing the God kind. God is being fruitful and multiplying the God kind through the creation of Adam and Eve, and when he made them, he said, Be fruitful and multiply, and what are they multiplying? The God kind.

So, every human being that has ever been born, that has ever lived and died, was made in the image of God, not in the image of Adam, not in the image of Eve, though they bear a resemblance, of course, they are our physical parents, but every person has the potential of becoming God. After the God own kind, we have the potential of becoming God, and that is why understanding these holy days are so important that so many religious people just think of their old history, Old Testament stories, that have nothing to do with Jesus Christ. To the opposite, Jesus Christ is the God of the Old Testament.

We have shown that again and again, but quickly, I will say, you go to the eighth chapter of John, and the Jews are asking Jesus to identify who he is, and Jesus says, Verily, verily, before Abraham was, I am. He didn’t say, I was, he said, I am, and you see in most good Bibles, the I am is capitalized, and then go to Exodus chapter 3, and when Moses is asking the God he’s talking to, the God from the burning bush, who is this God? And God identifies himself. When Moses says, when I go to the people, and they say, I’ve talked to God, and they say to me, well, what’s his name? And then God replied to Moses, I am who I am, thus tell the people, I am has sent you.

So when Jesus Christ was saying to the Pharisees, and to the people who doubted who he was, the Messiah, and he said, before Abraham was, I am, Jesus was telling everyone publicly, he is the God that talked to Moses. He is the God of the burning bush. Now go to the first chapter of John, and before you ever start reading the Bible, you should start with the first chapter of the Gospel of John, before you read the first chapter of Genesis, because there’s two places in the Bible where God says, in the beginning, and the first is, of course, Genesis 1. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, but you know there’s another book in the Bible that starts with, in the beginning, and it predates Genesis 1. And that’s John chapter 1, when it says, in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

And then it goes on to explain that the Word is the God who became, in human form, Jesus Christ. And then it goes on, in John 1, that everything in the universe that was created, was created by the Word, not the Father, by the Word, who is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ created everything.

That is why his death on the cross redeemed everything that Christ ever created. God the Father didn’t create it, the Bible says Jesus created it. Every instance in the Old Testament, but a few foreshadows, whenever the Lord God is being mentioned, that God is Jesus Christ, in his pre-human form.

And every single Old Testament holiday is a symbol of the God, Yahweh, I am, Jesus Christ. And so the first holidays of Passover and Pentecost are holidays that have already been biblically, prophetically fulfilled. But the fall holidays, which begins today on the Feast of Trumpets, or the Festival of Trumpets, or Blowing Trumpets, today’s holiday actually begins things that have not yet happened, that is, tomorrow’s headlines.

Remember, the plain truth is always talking about God in the news. And tomorrow’s headlines begin, really, when you look at today’s Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement in 10 days, and the Feast of Tabernacle in 15 days, and the Great Last Day in 22 days. The holiest month of the year is this seventh month of the year, because it concludes the entire plan of God.

Now, the trumpets are a warning sign, but it’s also, I always like to say, when you’re blowing a trumpet, you’re blowing a newspaper headline. Because when these trumpets blow, if there arenewspapers around, or TV news, or whatever the news of the day is, those trumpets that aresounding are going to be news. And the news of this day in the future is that Jesus Christ isreturning soon.

Tribulation is here. Wars are here, and they blow trumpets during war. And they also blow trumpets when a king is announced, and the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords will be soon coming to this earth after that trumpet blows.

And you read this also in Revelation, talking about the last trump. That’s the day of trumpets, announcing the return of Jesus Christ, and what also happens at that last trump. I’ll tell you that when I get back from this commercial for The Plain Truth.

Thank you. And we’re back, and I’m going to give you one last thing about the last Trump. Do you know what happens at the last Trump? Let me read this to you.

If you want to go to 1 Corinthians 15, it’s really the resurrection chapter of your Bible that I think most Christian preachers and ministers and priests do not want to really talk to you about what’s written here, but let’s read starting with verse 13, 1 Corinthians 15, verse 13. We’ll read it through, and you’ll see the significance of a trumpet and what it means, that last trumpet that today’s day symbolizes. Now, if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there’s no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen.

And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is in vain. Your faith is also in vain. Yea, and we are found to be false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that he raised Christ, whom he raised not up, if the dead have not been risen.

For if the dead did not rise, then Christ did not rise. And if Christ did not rise, your faith is in vain, and you’re still in your sins. Then they also which have fallen asleep, and you notice the word here, fallen asleep, the dead are not in heaven, your uncle or your father or your mother that passed away are not in heaven, they’re in a grave, they are sleeping, and you can prove it right here, awaiting a resurrection from the dead.

When does that happen? Well, it explains it. Starting in verse 20, but now Christ is risen from the dead and became the first fruit of those that slept. Yes, the word is slept.

I’m sorry, nobody’s in heaven. You’re sleeping until when? For since by man came death, by man also comes the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ shall all be made alive.

But every man or woman in their own order, Christ the firstfruits, the first person born out of agrave, born again, so to speak, resurrected from the dead, is Jesus Christ. And the spring holidaycalled firstfruits is a holiday that commemorates Jesus Christ is the first ever to rise from thedead. He’s the firstfruits.

Afterward, they that are Christ, now listen to this, so if you are a true Christian, you are the next to be raised from the dead, resurrected from a grave that everyone is still in until when? But every man in his own order, Christ the firstfruits. Afterward, they that are Christ at his coming. Did Christ come yet? No.

Everyone is still in their graves awaiting that sound, that trumpet sound, we’ll read on. Then comes the end when we shall have been delivered up the kingdom of God, even the Father, when we shall have put all rule and authority and power. For he must reign till he has put all of his enemies under his feet.

The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. Death is not yet destroyed. Death will kill me.

Death will take you. Death is the last enemy. Now death has not yet been conquered, but let’s go down all the way to verse 50 of the same chapter.

Now I say to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood, and and I are flesh and blood, cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Neither does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I will tell you a mystery.

We shall not all sleep. Not everybody’s going to die and go into a grave. Now listen to this.

But we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump, the last trumpet sound. For the trumpet shall sound and the dead in Christ shall be raised incorruptible, meaning immortal, and we who still alive during this tribulation will be changed into that same incorruptible, immortal, spiritual being. So this corruption, this mortal body, must be put on a body of immortality, verse 54.

Then we shall see the saying, death is swallowed up in victory. Oh death, where is your sting? Oh grave, where is your victory? The sting of death is sin and the strength of sin is the law, but thanks be to God which give us us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Yes, today is a day that symbolizes when you are going to be resurrected from, if you’re a Christian, from the dead being you are in your grave, your bones or whatever you’re left of you, and you’re going to be resurrected into an immortal God being.

That is the story that religions do not teach you. You can find it in 1 Corinthians 15. And you can go to the last chapters of Revelation and find out the rest of the dead, that means all the non-Christians who ever lived, they’re not going to go to hell in a hellfire, they did not come to life untilafter the reign of Christ, which is a thousand years, then they will be judged by their works.

How good of a life did they do, were they? And that’s how they will be judged, and they will have a chance to live over again without the Satan, the devil’s influence, and then when they fully mature, they themselves will then go through the same changing in a moment’s notice into a God being. That is your future. Now I’m going to go back and I’m going to play some notes about the Feast of Trumpets that you should be aware of, of all the symbolism that it stands for.

It’s very important. The Feast of Trumpets is the fourth step in God’s plan of salvation for all mankind, revealed in the seven biblical festivals. This video will explain the biblical meaning, and you’ll learn how this holy day points to the day of the Lord, Jesus Christ’s return, and the resurrection of true Christians.

Leviticus 23-24 says, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a Sabbath rest, a memorial, a blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. This celebration is one of God’s seven annual holy days, often called the Feast of Trumpets. It’s also known by the Hebrew name Rosh Hashanah, meaning head of the year.

Trumpets play an important role in its meaning. In the Old Testament, trumpets were used for several purposes. Two of those reasons apply directly to the Feast of Trumpets.

One is the announcement of imminent war and destruction. We can see this in Numbers chapter 10. And the Lord spoke, saying, Make two silver trumpets for yourself.

When you go to war in your land against the enemy, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets. The other key reason trumpets were blown was the coronation of a king. We see this in First Kings 1 verse 34, where Solomon was anointed king.

Anoint him king over Israel and blow the horn and say, Long live King Solomon. Now let’s use Scripture to build our understanding of what the Feast of Trumpets means. We’ll examine end-time prophecies where trumpets are key, revealing three major end-time events proclaimed by this holy day.

Number one, the Day of the Lord. The Day of the Lord is the period immediately before Jesus’ return, during which the seven trumpet plagues of Revelation will be unleashed on mankind. From Isaiah, we learn that this time lasts for one year.

Isaiah 34 verse 8 says, For it is the day of the Lord’s vengeance, the year of recompense for the cause of Zion. And Isaiah 63 verse 4 says, For the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of my redeemed has come. In Joel 2 verse 1, we read, Blow the trumpet in Zion and sound the alarm.

Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming, for it is at hand. Now let’s read this prophecy from Zephaniah. For the day of the Lord is at hand.

The great day of the Lord is near. The noise of the day of the Lord is bitter. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of devastation and desolation, a day of clouds and thick darkness, a day of trumpet and alarm.

The future day of the Lord that will bring about terrible destruction on a worldwide scale will be announced with trumpet blasts. Now let’s look at some end time prophecies that Jesus Christ revealed concerning the day of the Lord. In Matthew 24 verses 29 through 31, he said, Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light.

The stars will fall from heaven and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and he will send his angels with the great sound of a trumpet. So we see after the tribulation, there will be disturbances in the heavens and then the blowing of a trumpet.

We see an even more detailed description of this period in Revelation chapter six. Here we see the first four seals open, releasing the four horsemen, then the fifth seal pointing to the great tribulation and martyrdom of the saints of God. After that, we see the sixth seal open, describing cosmic disturbances that put the world on notice that the day of the Lord is coming, the day of God’s wrath against a rebellious, disobedient humanity.

The chapter ends with mankind hiding in caves and in the mountains, saying, Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. For the great day of his wrath has come, and who is able to stand? The very next seal, the seventh seal, is one of trumpets announcing death and destruction such as the world has never seen. This is the one year day of the Lord leading up to the return of Jesus Christ.

When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about a half an hour. I saw the seven angels who stand before God and to them were given seven trumpets. Now let’s summarize what each trumpet announces, starting with verse seven.

The first angel sounded and a third of the trees were burned up and all green grass was burned up. Then the second angel sounded and a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. The third angel sounded and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water because it was made bitter.

And the fourth angel sounded and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon and a third of the stars. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night. After the fourth trumpet blast, this warning is made about the final three trumpets.

Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth because of the remaining blasts of the trumpets of the three angels. This announcement is warning about the most devastating military exchange the world has ever known. Then the fifth angel sounded which describes implements of warfare that were not to kill but to torment men for five months.

Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion. In those days men will seek death and will not find it. They will desire to die and death will flee from them.

Then the sixth angel sounded. So the four angels who had been prepared for the hour and the day and the month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. The very next verse reveals that this involves a military force of 200 million.

But the destruction is not over. After the seventh trumpet is sounded, Revelation 16 describes the seven final plagues poured out on mankind. So, there you have it.

The idea of trumpets in the Bible. Why these holidays are so important, and why the so-called Christian holidays that you’re probably following, Christmas, Easter, all the Halloween, believe it or not, that’s a religious holiday in the Catholic Church, all of these days are pagan oriented, and God tells you not to follow the way of the heathen pagan religions. As a matter of fact, God gets quite angry when you want to do that.

God wants you to follow his holy days because in those holy days you find the redemption plan ofGod, of what your future is, the incredible potential that you have because you’re made in the image of God. You’re not made in the image of man. You’re made in the image of the creator ofthe universe, and it’s about time you understand it.

It’s about time you understand these holidays that so many people think have been done away with actually point to your salvation, your destiny, and what God has planned for you. That’s pretty darn impressive. And by the way, I’m going to end this, and I hope everyone who does follow the Feast of Trumpets, and the Feast of Tabernacles, and the Day of Atonement, and Passover, and the Sabbath day especially, I hope all you people have a good day today if you’re following it, but I want to end by saying the mission of the plain truth is to show you that God is real.

God is part of the news. God is part of your future if you believe so or not. The tribulation is part of the future of mankind.

The end-time prophecies of the Bible, talking about total destruction basically of the earth, man, and everything in it, is going to happen if you want to believe it or not, because God is real, and just because you don’t believe that God is real does not make God not real. You know, you can make believe something don’t exist. You can make sure you can walk down the street at night,and you can see a guy across the street holding a shotgun, and you can say, I don’t believe hereally exists, but that guy shoots you, you’re going to die.

Reality is in front of you, and you’re in the Bible, and that is the plain truth, and that’s the message of theplaintruth.com, and I just want to apologize for my voice is a little weak today. I’m still recuperating from some stuff that I had done, and I’m a little, my voice is a little weak, I noticed this morning, but I’m doing very fine. What is in store for all of us is far more beautiful and impressive than anything any church has ever taught you that follows Christmas and Easter, and the idea that when you die, you go to heaven or hell. It’s not biblical. It’s not what is in the Bible at all, and it is not what God says.
