This is Bob Barney and I want to now talk about today’s subject, which is,where is Russia and how does that compare to where America is and is there a lesson to be learned? You know, when I first heard that Russia was going to attack Ukraine back some five years ago, I predicted like most pundits predicted, shows you I’m not a prophet, I only can go by what I know at the time and I didn’t, God didn’t tell me any elsewhere, to think I knew elsewhere, I only can go to the Bible.
I don’t have breakfast or lunch or dinner with God and God doesn’t come to me like he did prophets. I wish he did, I wish I could be one of those, but I’m not. I am a newsman trying to do my job, but understanding there is a God and it’s the of the Bible, it’s the God we know as God the Father and Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Old Testament, by the way, and if you go to the pages of the Bible, you can predict your future because the Bible is tomorrow’s headlines.
It’s yesterday’s headlines, today’s headlines, and especially tomorrow’s headlines, but when I thought Russia was going to go into Ukraine, I thought it was going to last a week, two weeks, three weeks at the most and Ukraine would totally be under the domination of Russia and I was wrong and the pundits were wrong.
At the time because what we’ve seen in what Donald Trump is showing again with the American military, what we saw with Russia is a paper tiger and a paper tiger that could not do what everybody in the world thought they could do and when they went into Ukraine or tried to, they met their match and actually this little powerful country of Ukraine just absolutely shocked the experts of the world of what they’ve been able to do and what Putin did is show all of his enemies how weak Russia really is. Russia could be taken over by most countries. If Germany, for example, ever got their act together, which they’re going to because the Bible tells you they are the Assyria of prophecy and they are going to be the world power.
The king of the north was probably going to come out of Assyria, Germany, and they are going to be like World War II all over again. They would attack Russia even with their limited military power they have right now. If they were to attack Russia, they would defeat Russia and Russia could not defeat Germany.
That’s how bad Russia really is and they showed the whole world Vladimir Putin proved just exactly how stupid he is and shown the world how weak he is and unfortunately that’s what Donald Trump has done with his rampage on Iran when he is showing China, Japan, Germany,Russia, everyone who’s our potential enemy in the next few years, just how easy it would be to knock American superpower off its rocker and us being spread thin throughout the world with a 39 trillion dollar deficit going to be spending a trillion dollars a year on our national debt.
Our national debt is going up, our military budget they want it to go up, and pretty soon America is going to run out of money and we’re going to start collapsing just like the Roman Empire did and it’s not going to be pretty when that happens because our enemies are going to take advantage of us everywhere throughout the world and it’s not going to be fun to be an American. Just like the Soviets or the Russians today found out it wasn’t the fun to be a Russian fighting Ukraine when they thought they were going to march through there in just a few days or maybe a week or two and totally defeat the Ukrainians and here are five years later the Ukrainians are defeating the Russians.
They’re actually hitting Moscow with bombs and drones and missiles and Russia is defenseless and actually Ukraine has taken back territory and it has got the whole world shocked but what really is the most shocking that I think is about what this next uh I’m gonna play here off YouTube I think it’s very funny about just how bad the Russian military proved to be and how stupid Vladimir Putin proved to be.
Putin shoed the world that he was a paper tiger a little bit like we’re doing so listen to this: It’s kind of humorous in a way let’s be honest Russia’s military sucks we were all told it was the second most powerful in the world a global superpower a force to fear and then Ukraine happened. Suddenly the mighty Russian war machine started to look like a rusted out relic from the cold war the truth it was all smoke and mirrors the tanks falling apart the strategy stuck in the 1970s the leadership corrupt and clueless and the troops starving surrendering or worse this isn’t just failure it’s a full-blown military embarrassment.. A humiliation for Putin and it’s unraveling in real time so today we’re pulling back the curtain on Russia’s military myth and showing you the receipts do you remember the headlines that struck every major news outlet in February 2022 the world watched in horror as Russian forces poured across Ukraine’s borders in what was supposed to be a lightning-fast special military operation.
According to Putin’s calculations, which were even backed by some western analysts on the first day Kiev would fall within days. Russian generals reportedly packed parade uniforms expecting to march victoriously through the Ukrainian capital within 72 hours by now that never ended up happening while Russia did invade Ukraine and got as far as the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital.
The initial invasion stalled spectacularly Russian forces despite overwhelming numerical superiority on paper faltered and lost any momentum they might have had from the very start the institute for the study of war’s analysis shows that Russia’s initial campaign failed in its primary objective to conduct airborne and mechanized operations to seize Kiev Kharkiv Odessa and other major Ukrainian cities to force a change of government in Ukraine.
Those reports came as early as April 2022 suggesting that the Kremlin needed to backtrack on the invasion goals only after a few weeks of fighting why did this supposedly world-class military stumble so badly in practice the actual scope of the invasion with the initial military strategy was bound to fail from the start you see the land invasion of Kiev. The subsequent one in Donbass was the backdrop for an attempted coup of the entire Ukrainian government the first critical battle of the war was not fought on any of the front lines between Kiev and Moscow but at the Kiev airport on the morning of the invasion a small group of around 200 supposedly higher trained and expert elite forces were supposed to have been delivered by aircraft directly into the Hostomel airport one of Ukraine’s largest airports that was also only miles from the capital city center.
The goal was to capture the airport using only air inserted infantry with aerial support provided by a sizable formation of 20 to 34 transport and combat helicopters. The operation aimed to establish an air bridge less than 10 kilometers from Kiev.
Swift bold and dangerously close to the heart of Ukraine’s capital the next stage of the plan would involve a massive transport of troops fromMoscow or St. Petersburg with reports suggesting as many as 5,000 troops being prepped for transport these troops would have direct access to Kiev through the occupied airport which used to comfortably land some of the world’s largest planes storming the capital building and taking over the government to allow Putin a seamless victory, but the initial takeover of the airport went horribly awry.
The Ukrainian military, receiving vital intelligence of Russia’s hostile movement, sparked vehicles on the runway, preventing the first wave of Russian troops from landing. Instead, the helicopters were forced to land a few hundred yards away from the airport, all while being battered by human-portable anti-aircraft missiles and a lone ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun, suffering the first casualties in the form of at least four helicopters downed during the approach.
The resulting battle between the Russian forces and Ukrainian ones went back and forth, which was entirely surprising given that the Russian troops were supposedly special forces while the Ukrainian ones were conscripted. Nevertheless, the Russian troops occupied the airport, but only for a few hours after the projected timeline.
By that time, the rest of the Russian military was experiencing its own delays. The mechanized infantry that started in Belarus was held up by Ukrainian defenses and would only reach the airport the next day. The air transport that was supposed to come from Russia and reinforce the initial troops with those 5,000 men was recalled, as there was nowhere to land. The Ukrainian mechanized infantry shelled the airport for good measure to make it utterly unusable to incoming Russian forces.
The prelude to the invasion was only an indicator of things to come, but the underlying issues that made it a non-starter are spread through the entire military.
So, this was — I let that go a little longer than I was going to, and we’re almost up to our first commercial break. We’re for The Plain Truth; we don’t take commercials.
Anyway, what I wanted to show you is: does this sound familiar, in a way, to what’s going on with Iran? Everybody thinks that we have this great military, and we sit there and hero-worship our military just like the Russians did. But we found out this fourth-rate power — and that’s all Iran is — they don’t have an army, a navy, or an air force or anything really of value. But they have a lot of resistance.
Sometimes, as the British found out in 1778 and 1779, all the way up to Yorktown, a rabble of American colonialists could beat their great military because the will was there to beat them. Paid mercenaries really didn’t have the will to die for England as American colonial patriots had the will to die.
That’s one of the examples that we just do not learn as a nation as we try to go around the world doing nation-building and taking over regimes. We tried it in Venezuela; it’s going to turn out bad. Now it looks like we’re going to try it in Cuba, and it’s going to turn out bad. All we’re doing is projecting weakness.

We’re talking about Russia, as they proved in the last four years to be a paper tiger — something I personally believe China still is. That’s why China hasn’t taken Taiwan. China would take Taiwan tomorrow if they thought they could run over Taiwan and the American forces.
Taiwan, like Ukraine, and like the American colonial empire under Britain, wants to be free of China. They don’t want to be a part of China. They have a lot of arms, they have a lot of guns, and they have a lot of will. Just possibly, they have the will to defeat a Chinese invasion.
China is not good at invading anybody. The people themselves are quite peaceful. Yes, Xi Jinping may want Taiwan and may think he’s got a pretty strong military, but I think he’s a realist. One thing I think he realizes is that trying to take Taiwan could put him in a situation like Ukraine, showing other enemies of the world that China is still a paper tiger — which I believe they are.
By the way, I think China’s power and prestige about their military is way overstated, and it’s overstated on purpose by our government trying to have a bigger military budget by scaring everybody that China’s ready to invade us at any second.
Well, if they did, they would lose, even though we’re a weak third-rate power ourselves right now. I know a lot of Americans don’t want to hear that, and a lot of Americans are going to be mad at me and think I’m some kind of communist or anti-American liberal. I’m not. I’m as pro-American as you’ll ever be, and I love America.
But I understand in the Bible who America is, and I bet most people listening to me do not understand that America is the number-one nation found in the Bible. The number-one nation talked about in the Bible is the United States of America, but you’ve never been told that unless maybe you listened to the Armstrong programs.
Most people in this country — 97% of the people — have no clue that the identity of the United States of America, Great Britain, Canada, and Germany is in the pages of the Bible. Without knowing that, you don’t understand the future. You don’t understand what’s going to happen, and that’s what The Plain Truth is trying to give to you.
Going back to Russia: Russia is a good example of what happened to them is happening right now to Donald Trump and his military. We’re going to continue with this program a little bit more, with some more features about just how badly Russia planned this Ukraine invasion — or lack of planning — and how it showed the world what a bumbling mess they are.
