The Fair Tax and the End of the IRS by Bob Barney

Hi, this is Bob Barney, and one of the things we hear from our leaders, on both sides of the aisle, but I would say mainly Democrats, is they want everybody to pay their fair share of taxes. Well, I have a question for you. What is your fair share of taxes? How much of your income should the government get? 5%, 10%, 20%, 50%? Or like it was in the 1950s, the very rich had a 90% tax bracket.

What’s fair? Are you aware that God thinks 10% is fair for him? You know, when ancient Israel was set up, and it was a theocracy, it was led by God, he was the king before there was any kings, and the people were told that they were to tithe. All tithe means, and many people do not know this, but a tithe means it’s Old English for a tenth. God wanted a tenth of your increase each year.

That was what God thought was fair taxes. Today, we have people paying anywhere from a low of maybe 4% or 5% taxes to all the way up to 30%, 35%, 50% taxes. And when you talk about taxes, you have to understand there are many forms of taxes, not just income tax.

You know, I’ve railed that income taxes, the idea of income taxes breaks the Ten Commandments. It covers, covets what your neighbor makes and wants to steal it from them through taxation. But on top of that, there are so many different taxes that the American people face today.

Again, if we were to go back to 1776, and the people in Philadelphia was all of a sudden transported to America in 2023, and they saw the tax burden that the average citizen has, they wouldn’t believe it. They wouldn’t believe that we would stomach it. They wouldn’t believe that we wouldn’t take up arms, frankly, and start a revolution, because the people in colonial America had probably nine-tenths less taxes than we have today.

You have income tax, you have many people have state income tax, you have sales tax, you havepersonal property taxes if you live in Virginia on things you own. Many people listening to this may not be from Virginia, but you realize if you own a car worth, let’s say, $45,000, $50,000, which is not that big of a car today, that every year the state of Virginia is going to tax that car, and it’s probably going to be in the $2,000 range, you’re going to pay more money in personal property taxes on a new vehicle than you’re going to pay for insurance. I know people that have, you know, these big trucks, you know, these four-wheelers and big trucks, they spent $100,000.

They have a $6,000 to $7,000 property tax on their vehicle in the past. On top of that, you have taxes on your property. You have taxes on everything you own.

For the most part, bank account interest is taxed. If you’re like a farmer, for example, all of your equipment is taxed, your harvesters and your plows and your tractors, and even your livestock is taxed. And this has been done by different people over the years.

If you figure out the tax burden on, say, the very rich of everything they really produce in taxes, between property taxes and possession taxes and you name it, income taxes and dividend taxes, they probably pay about a third of all of their income in taxes. They’re actually probably lowerthan some of the poor middle-class people who are into the 50-60 percentile, especially thoseliving in states that have very high personal property taxes and income taxes. Not everybody’sfortunate to live in Florida, for example, where there is no state income tax and there is noproperty tax on your vehicle.

But many people live in Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, California, where the tax burden on the middle class is just absolutely stifling. It’s causing people to go into debt and not to be able to have a good lifestyle because of taxes. How much is enough taxes? You know, they say death in taxes.

Well, I got news for you. The tax rate in America is causing deaths of many people because many people have a heart attack when they open up their personal property tax bill and find out they owe like $9,000 on three cars, more money than they would pay in the car payment and in the insurance payment, to a tax that is absolutely unfair. I got a question for you.

Do you own any property? Well, I can guarantee you if you are a citizen in the United States of America, you own no piece of land. You rent it from the government. You want to have proof of that? Don’t pay a $200 tax bill on your property.

And in about three or four years of not paying that two or $300 tax bill, property tax bill on your property, you will see your property auctioned off by the county or the town and sold and you evicted because you don’t own that property your house is sitting on. The state or the local government owns it. And anything you pay tax on, you don’t own.

You’re renting. Is that fair? Is that what the forefathers had in mind? Is that what God has in mind? You know, God says in his Word that everything you have comes from God. Everything you earn is because of a blessing from God.

And he only expects 10%. But your government leaders who are not God, they’re the farthest thing from God you’ll ever find. They have no morals.

They’re immoral completely. They’re sexual deviants, most of them. They don’t think 10% is enough.

They don’t think 20% is enough. They don’t think 50% is enough. You have people like Elizabeth Warren wanting to go back to a 90% tax rate.

Now, she’s going to exclude herself because she’s going to lie and cheat. She’s going to say she’s an American Indian. She’s about as much as an American Indian as a turkey, as a bald eagle.

Matter of fact, maybe a turkey is one twenty-fourth of a bald eagle. Maybe we shouldn’t be able to kill them like bald eagles. Taxes are stifling this country, and it’s one of the many things that is driving this country into poverty.

People are going into poverty because of taxes. Now, there is some answers to all of this, by the way. I mentioned this in an earlier broadcast about what I would do if I was president, and I’m not trying to be president, by the way.

I wouldn’t even want the job. But what a president should do that could turn this economy around in a millisecond, and the first thing you do is abolish the IRS, abolish income taxes. Income taxes are regressive.

They force people not to work. They force people to go to an underground cash society and not pay taxes, and therefore the government gets less taxes or less revenue with an income tax than they would do if they had some other form of taxation. And the only kind of taxation, honestly, that is fair is a usage or a tariff tax, and that is what our forefathers had.

You want to go and buy something? Then you pay a national sales tax, like you go to buy, let’s say you go buy a coat in a store today, and you’re living in a state that has sales tax. You’re going to pay four, five, six, seven, up to nine percent sales tax on that coat. Well, there’s an organization called the Fair Tax out there who’s promoting the idea that people should not pay income tax, and that income tax, and the IRS by the way, should be abolished.

No one would have to worry about income tax day. No one would have to worry about what comes out of their payroll. Whatever their check is from their employer, they would have 100 percent of it.

Nothing would go to Social Security, Medicare, or FICA. They would keep it all. In fact, they would receive from the government, on top of their pay, they would receive from the government a check for anywhere from $500 to $750 a month per person in their household.

So, let’s say you’re a family of four, and you’re making $50,000 a year. You would take home a$1,000 a week check with nothing taking out of it, and on top of that, you would receive a $2,000check from the government every month just to be an American citizen. Now you say, well, how could that happen? That doesn’t make sense.

Where would the money come from? Well, I’m not a Democrat, and I’m not a Republican. I’m not spending your money. I’m going to tell you how the money comes.

You place in a national sales tax. Most people say that rate would be about 15 percent. So, no one pays income tax.

No one has to worry about accountants. No one has to worry about going to H&R Block. No one has to worry about the IRS showing up at their doorstep, threatening them, taking away everything they have.

You know, the IRS, everybody knows this, and for some reason, again, nobody seems to care about it, but you have to prove yourself innocent. Our system of justice is the government has to prove you guilty, but not when it comes to the IRS. And by the way, if you have a problem with the IRS, and I haven’t, and I will maybe after this broadcast, I will, but if you have a problem with the IRS, you’re not going to find too many attorneys that’s going to fight for you.

I have a friend of mine who many years ago had a problem with an IRS, and they were wrong what they were trying to say he did wrong, and he was going to fight it, and because he was a corporation, he went to court to fight it, and the judge said, sir, you can’t represent this corporation. You have to hire a lawyer. A little known fact, I don’t think most of my listeners know, if you are running a corporation, or you own a corporation, a corporation is a living being, according to our government, you cannot go to court and represent that corporation.

Lawyers love to take care of their own, you know. In the law, if you are a corporation, you must hire an attorney to represent your corporation in law. So if you’re going to sue anybody, and you’re a corporation, you have to have an attorney.

So if you’re going to sue the IRS to say they had no right levying a fine on you that you did notowe, you cannot go and fight it yourself if you are a corporation. You can if you’re a 1040 employee, but if you’re a corporation, you have to find a lawyer that’s going to go and represent you in a court against the IRS, and good luck trying to find an attorney. In this particular case thatmy friend was telling me, that when he knew he was right, and he was told by the judge he couldn’t represent himself or his corporation, he went to try to find an attorney, and about 35 attorneys turned him down, and one of them actually admitted and said, do you realize if I took your case, I would be audited for the rest of my life? Fear.

Even attorneys have fear of the IRS. The IRS is like the Gestapo of an American justice system, and it’s about time that people find out and read about the fair tax, and learn what the fair tax is about, and abolish the IRS. Get rid of every IRS agent, get rid of every IRS employee, and go to a national sales tax, and this is how that national sales tax works.

You get a check if you’re a family of four, and you’re making say your wife and yourself together are making $1,000 a week. Make it easy. You’re going to take home $1,000 a week, so you start with $50,000 a year, $1,000 a week, $52,000 a year, I guess that would be, and then you get acheck for $2,000.

$500 for you, $500 for your wife, $500 for each child. So your week or your month, you’re going to get on average, you know, $4,000 with no taxes taken out, and another $2,000 from the government to spend however you want to spend. But now when you go to a store, and you buy anything, including food, you buy anything you buy, you’re going to pay a 15% tax.

That is where the money comes from. Now you say to yourself, well, how’s that going to work? I’mgoing to pay more money that way. Well, maybe if you’re a drug dealer, you are, because they don’t pay income taxes.

Maybe if you’re a prostitute, it’s not good for you, because they don’t pay income taxes. Maybe if you’re a criminal, or maybe if you’re Hunter Biden, and you can hide everything and not pay taxes, you might not like that idea. The rich definitely wouldn’t like that idea, because everything they buy, there would be a 15% tax on it.

Their yachts, and their limousines, and their private airplanes would have a 15% tax on it. Now you understand where the money would come from. The money would come from consuming, not working, not labor.

You want to tax consuming. You do not want to tax labor, because when you tax labor, what do you do? You actually hurt the productivity of an employee. How many times, and I think most people going to be listening to me are not rich.

I think most people listening to this broadcast would be people that actually work every day hard for a living. They get a check for $1,000 on the top line, and there’s $285 taken out for FICA, and there’s $52 taken out for Social Security, and another $11.14 for Medicare, and all of a sudden they’re taking home $711 out of the $1,000 check. And they don’t get a $2,000 check from the government at the end of the month.

How well would it be for you that if, let’s say you spent, a family of four spent $2,000 a month on food, going to restaurants. Let’s say they spent another $1,000 a month on what they wanted to buy, clothing or whatever. Let’s say it’s $3,000.

Well, $3,000, the tax, the 15% tax, let’s say it’s $5,000. The 15% tax would be $750. You’re getting $2,000 back.

So unless you’re spending in the $25,000 a month category, you’re actually making money on this deal. The majority of the American people would do well. Now, who wouldn’t do well? Illegal aliensthat don’t pay tax, or a lot of poor people who don’t pay their fair share tax.

You know, 50% of American people pay no federal income tax. 50%. Is that really fair? Is it fair to you? If you’re barely getting by now, but you’re paying your fair share taxes, the fair tax does away with that.

And the money that would pour in from the underground economy, when people go out to buy things, that’s what people want to do. Buy jewelry, buy this, buy that, buy food, buy new cars, buy yachts, then they’re going to pay their tax. And that’s where the money comes from.

And that is the whole idea of the fair tax. And I am a proponent of the fair tax. I have been since the day I ever first heard about it about 15 years ago.

It’s the only fair tax system that makes sense, and it’s the kind of taxes that God would say makes sense. The idea, again, Americans are paying more taxes today than they did in 1775 when they decided to have a revolution against England over taxation. And if you really want to be technical, it was really over personal liberties, and not just taxation, but we’ll get into that at the end of the show.

But I am proposing that people do their research. Go to your search engine and put in the fair taxand start reading everything you can read about it. And you tell me, and you can write me or emailme and tell me where you think that ain’t good for America, because it is.

It would make this economy boom. It would make us the strongest nation in the world again, and it would be a blessing. Taxes have stifled the American people.

And like I said earlier, when you don’t own anything, you just pay rent to the government, local government or whatever. It’s a disincentive. It’s something that just is not going to make people plan ahead.

It’s not going to make people get ahead. There was a time in this country, and we always hear this is a country of opportunity, that you can be poor and then you can become a billionaire the next day or, you know, through hard work. That’s not true anymore.

It’s true for a few people. But you don’t have the society we had 150 years ago, where you were left alone by the government. You had personal liberty, you could do what you wanted to do, you could go where you wanted to go, and you could make the kind of money you had to make.

And you didn’t have to worry about permits, and you didn’t have to worry about taxes, and you didn’t have to worry about licenses, and you didn’t have to worry about government red tape. You could make a good living and, most likely, with some luck, get rich. That’s what America was about, and we’ve stopped it.

Our leaders have absolutely stopped it. They hate free enterprise. They hate capitalism.

They hate the American way of life. They’re trying to turn you into a bunch of serfs. We’re going back to the Middle Ages, where there’s going to be lords.

And guess who the lords are going to be? It ain’t going to be you and me. It’s going to be the people in Washington, D.C. and in your state capitals. They’re going to be the lords.

And who are they going to be, the serfs? It’s going to be you and me. It’s going to be the mass rabble out there, who does all the living and dying and working in this country, that’s going to be turned into slaves. Slavery is on its way back.

It’s just going to have a new name. It’s going to be talked about differently. But right now, you’re a slave to your taxes.

You’re a slave to your government. And it’s a time that Americans wake up. If 10% is good enough for God, then 10% should be good enough for Uncle Sam.

Hello, this is Bob Barney with The Plain Truth Today and ThePlainTruth.com, bringing you a new perspective of how to look at today’s news and yesterday’s headlines and tomorrow’s future headlines. In the light of biblical prophecy, God Almighty did give you a primer on how to find out what’s going on, what’s going to happen, and what you can do about it, and how you should live your life. It’s called reading the Bible, which is a thing that most people just simply do not want to do today, is read the Bible.

And The Plain Truth does try to show you that God has a plan, and the plan has been worked out long ago, and you can find out about that plan. You can learn about what God’s prophecies are and what God says is going to happen in your lifetime and beyond if you go to ThePlainTruth.com every day, read the message board, read the Your Health Today articles, read the main page of The Plain Truth, or go to these broadcasts, which we call podcasts, and we have different points of view, myself as well as many other people that you will recognize. And I think it’s the one place you go to that is going to be a little different than anywhere else, that you could get the same kind of news with what God is saying about it and what God has prophesied about it.

That’s ThePlainTruth.com and ThePlainTruthToday.com, available every day, seven days a week. Thank you, and we’ll be right back to the rest of the show. It’s funny, but when you read the Bible, you find out that most hated people, even in the biblical times, in the New Testament and in theOld Testament, were those people who were saddled with the burden of collecting taxes.

And I don’t know if they thought it was a burden because, as you could read in the New Testament especially, God thinks that most tax collectors were crooks, and they not only collected taxes for their king, in the case of Christ, Rome, but they also collected tax money for their own coffers, for their own pocketbooks. They lied, cheated, and stealed. And probably there was no more despised of a class of people in the New Testament, anyway, than the tax collector.

And we can really readily see that today in today’s modern society. We absolutely hate taxes and death and what they always say about that. And we just simply do not like the IRS, and we do not like tax collectors.

And I am saying, if we go to the fair tax, we can get rid of the IRS, and we can get rid of income taxes, and we can get rid of Big Brother overlooking everything you do trying to collect their tax money. If we went to a fair tax, where everybody paid the same amount of sales tax, but you get rebates based on the size of your family, that would cover most people’s sales taxes for the month that are poor. It’s progressive.

It fills all the boxes that you need about collecting money. You will actually collect more money than you do today with income taxes, and you will not have what income taxes bring you. The one thing that income taxes bring to us is poor productivity.

When someone is taxed so much money of their income, they don’t want to work. They don’t want to have overtime. They don’t want to pay for the extra taxes they’re going to be charged if they work overtime.

Everybody knows the story about being offered overtime during holidays, and people turning it down because they know that 50, 60 percent of all the earnings they make will go to paying taxes for the privilege of working on a holiday, and that’s the plain truth. And that is one of the things that Donald Trump ran on, did he not? He ran on not only no taxes on tips, but no taxes on Social Security and no taxes on overtime, because he knows as a businessman that his employees did not want to work overtime because they didn’t really get paid to work overtime, because the extra money they would make just went to pay Uncle Sam more taxes. And so, if we got rid of the IRS, we got rid of the income tax, you’re going to have more productivity, more people are going to work, more people are going to work longer and harder to make more money to bring home to buy the things they want to buy, and when they buy the things they want to buy, guess what? Well, you guessed it.

They’re going to buy more things for their house and for their wife and for their children, and the economy is going to grow that way. But the real good thing about the national sales tax to replace the income tax is that all the people who do not pay income taxes today, who skip through the system, their underground economy, and all of these tourists that come over from overseas, they will be paying their fair share of taxes, too. When they stay in hotels and they go to Disney World and they go to movies and they go buy food in restaurants, they’re going to be paying a sales tax, even though they don’t live in the country.

And the drug dealers are going to be paying whenever they buy a brand new car, a brand new Lexus, or whatever they’re driving these days, and rich people are going to pay their fair share, too, because they’re going to still want to buy Learjets, and they’re still going to want to buy big cars and expensive limousines, and they’re all going to be taxed at the same rate. So, everybody is going to be paying their fair share, and yet you can decide for yourself, do you want to pay sales taxes or not by how much you want to buy in a particular month, because you know you’re going to get that check every single month from Uncle Sam. And then you can decide, well, I don’t need to buy this this month, I don’t need to buy this, and you can start saving up that money that Uncle Sam’s going to send you every month to help cover the cost of taxes for the first, you know, four or five thousand dollars a month worth of purchases.

Then you can save up some money, you put a bigger down payment on a car, have less car payments, and at the same time, then you pay the tax that you have saved up for the new things you want to buy. It makes the most sense of any tax system that was ever devised. Now, I know H&R Block’s not going to like it, probably my attorney, I’m sorry, my accountant’s not going to like it, but I tell you right now, my pocketbook and your pocketbook is going to more than like it, I guarantee you.

And that is my story and why I really promote to this day the fair tax to replace the income tax altogether. There has to be an amendment to the Constitution to abolish the income tax, because I know politicians, they love to get drunk on our money, so they’ll pass a national sales tax, they’ll consider it a VAT tax like in Europe, and they will still have an income tax to raise extra money, to waste extra money on their DEI programs and all the nonsense that they love to spend money on. So what you have to do if you’re going to pass the fair tax, you’re going to have to pass an amendment to the Constitution.

This is going to take some time, that you abolish the income tax, you abolish the IRS, and you get rid of it once and for all, the big burden millstone around our necks called the IRS. No more audits, no more worrying about losing everything you ever worked for because of a greedy government. And that is why I say again, look up fairtax.org, read what they have to say.

They’re not advertising here. I’m not taking any money from them. This is not a plug for them, other than it’s a plug for them that I believe in what they are trying to do.

And if you understood it for yourself, you would believe it too. And that’s the rest of the story on The Plain Truth today by Bob Barney. And we’ll get in with one little commercial before the end of this show.

And again, I want to talk about the people that come to this podcast every day. Remember, it’s not just me you’re listening to. We have Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Bill O’Reilly, people you’ve never even heard of, as well as we have a Sabbath show on Saturdays, and we have a short story, usually, sometimes a movie, but a short story on Saturday evening, a way to get rid of the TV set.

You sit down and listen to old-time radio, really, through your computer or your iPhone and your speakerphone or in your car, if you have Bluetooth. And it’s like, you know, a time with the family or a time with yourself or with your loved one that you can listen to a good story. And I have found many times listening to a story is 10 times better than watching it on TV.

Because when you watch a story on TV, you’re seeing what the director wants you to see. You are not allowing your mind to wander and think about what it’s listening to. I find that when you listen to a story, you understand the story better and you get into it more than when you just watch it play out in front of you.

And that is why even those movies and TV shows that have a narrator, they narrate the story to you, and then you watch the actors play it out as they narrate it. I find that form much better.
