The economy is still suffering. This is Bob Barney with The Plain Truth Today, brought to you by theplaintruth.com website. Yes, the economy is still struggling.

My company, over the weekend had a four-day sale and we would normally have made a lot of money with the sale after not having one since November…but that wasn’t the case. The sale ran through Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and it wrapped up last night at midnight. We had probably five times less sales than we expected. If you’re a consumer out there, do you put gas in your car to go to work to earn a living for your family? Do you try to save all the money you can so you can afford to pay your bills? Do you find a way to buy the expensive food in the grocery stores or maybe live on less food? Or do you paint your car? Can you guess which one comes in last? Well, my business is what sells the paint to the people who paint their cars, and yes, it comes in last, and we’re seeing that.

(3:32) What it tells me, what I’ve been saying here for a while, is the economy is not changing overnight, and I think still by the beginning of summer and maybe even by the end of summer, we may see the booming, rip-roaring economy we have been waiting for. Even still, I do think we have to do something to get the tariffs on the back burner. I think the Trump administration has done a little too much too fast with Gaza, Ukraine, and with the tariffs against even our partners like Europe and especially Canada.

I said this before a couple weeks ago, the president of Mexico, she had a pretty good reply about the fentanyl that comes over the border and is poison in America, and that is the reason why she is facing all of these tariffs against Mexican goods and Mexican-made parts for cars and et cetera. And she said 75% of the world’s fentanyl is used by America, and yet America is like 14% of the world’s population. I think, she said, the problem is in America, not on the Mexican border or on Mexico or on China, for that matter, producing all of that.

(5:12) So do you think if China stopped making all the fentanyl and Mexico could find all of it on the border before it crossed the border, which is an impossibility, do you think the fentanyl deaths would decrease? Or do you think there’d be ways to make it in America somehow? Because in my opinion, addicts always find a way to feed their habit, even if they have to kill, maim, or steal to do so. And so the problem is an American problem.

I don’t think that too many politicians especially want to face the fact that America is a sick society.

We’re sick with all kinds of things, not just sick when it comes to drugs and alcoholism. We can also say we have a problem when it comes to white women’s slavery and to the prostitution program or young children being sold into sex slavery, which we know is going on by the hundreds or maybe the tens or hundreds of thousands. I don’t know what the real number is, but we have a sick, decadent nation that we want to really put the blame off on other people. That is a human instinct. That’s a human reaction to things that goes wrong in our life. We like to find people we can blame because certainly we don’t want to blame ourselves.

(7:21) If you understand the Bible and you understand what God says, most of the problems that we all face, we in fact all create. And I’m not saying we all, meaning you or me, take drugs or are entering into sex slavery and stuff like that, but the society as a whole has tolerated lawlessness for much too long. Law is the cornerstone of any society, not just God’s law. I do believe God’s law is important, but even manmade laws are important especially when they just are not being followed. There are, I’m sure, hundreds, if not thousands of laws on the books against all kinds of drug trafficking, child sex slavery rings and all of this stuff, prostitution, you name it.

There are all kinds of laws on the books, but when people are caught, they’re not punished.

A lot of the poor people are, a lot of the users of drugs are, a lot of the people of color that are caught in the drug dealing world are the victims of long sentences. So our jails are just filled with these kinds of people. But at the most part, the people behind it all, the people making the real money behind those things, the Jeffrey Epstein’s of this world and the people who supported him, where is that report on Jeffrey Epstein? Where is that mind blowing report? Can you still not see it? It was going to be released three, four weeks ago. The report is still not out there. You have Kanye West with his wife, and I don’t remember her name, basically walking naked into and around the Oscars. Nobody denied their entry. Nobody stops them from going anywhere.

The editor of The Plain Truth, you know, she called the police and asked, “if I decided to go walk around in public naked, would you arrest me?”…you know what they told her? ‘Absolutely, we’d arrest you’.

Then why didn’t you arrest Kanye’s wife?

(9:20) That’s the problem. Rich people do have a separate set of rules they follow, and that is the lawlessness that abounds, and that is the thing that really bothers God when there are two sets of laws. There is one for the haves and one for the have nots. And we’ve had this too long in this country. We’ve had a country, honestly, that if you have a lot of money, you can basically get away with murder. You can, ask OJ, you can get away with all kinds of crimes. You can do about anything you want to do and basically get away with it.

Because of the lawlessness that prevails, especially amongst the wealthier members of society, we have now started to reap what we have sowed upon ourselves and we’re starting to see the decay of our society.

(10:23) So when we have this drug overdoses and leading to what was that a hundred thousand deaths last year from fentanyl alone, we want to blame China, and we want to blame Mexico and we want to blame Canada for the four pounds that came in across the Canadian border. Talk about nonsense. And I said this on a program a few weeks ago about how a lot of people Colorado are dying…you know, a state that legalized marijuana, just for recreational use, not even for medical use, but recreational use. Why doesn’t Colorado, a state that has all of these fentanyl deaths, why don’t they put a tariff against Kansas or Oklahoma or Texas or Wyoming? The fentanyl getting in Colorado did not come directly to them from Mexico or Canada…it had to come within and across the United States. Why did they not stop it from going into Colorado, for example. So if our own states can’t stop it, why should we expect nations like Mexico or Canada to stop it?

I’ll give you an example. I was watching a program on YouTube which I don’t know how accurate this is, but I was thinking about putting it up and it was talking about what the biggest port in America with shipping containers. What IS the biggest port? I thought, Long Beach, maybe. I doubt it would be Miami, but it might be New York City, or it might be Norfolk, the area where I live today. But no, it is a landlocked port in Texas on the Texas-Mexican border where some 16,000 containers a day cross the line. And as the person pointed out, there are not enough customs inspectors to inspect 16,000 containers a day. In fact, they test and check maybe 10 or 20 or maybe 50 on a good day. So there are 16,000 containers basically making it over the border every day, not being checked. You can’t expect it to be checked. If all of the containers were going to be checked, then there would be such a high cost of goods that you couldn’t afford anything in the store. Now, before you say, oh, you got to buy American, that’s the question.

Well, do you want to buy fresh fruit in the wintertime? Do you want to buy fresh vegetables in the wintertime? Do you want to buy all kinds of goods in the wintertime that simply are not available to Americans in America? I’m old enough to remember that you used to go to the A&P grocery store when I was growing up in Connecticut, and you bought in the wintertime basically either frozen vegetables or the vegetables of the month. And the month of December, January, and February, you basically bought like acorn squash or butternut squash or potatoes because they were the things that could store and last for the winter. You did not buy fresh tomatoes. You did not buy fresh lettuce. You did not buy fresh broccoli and cauliflower. They were not available because you could only get in America, and that’s where all the produce was coming from in the 1960s. All you could get was what was being grown at that month in America. So if you want to have plums in the wintertime, peaches and cantaloupe and nectarines and broccoli and cauliflower and lettuce and beets, you name it, you want to have a lot of these vegetables available in your supermarket, you’re going to have to import those from the countries that have a different climate when we are in winter. For example, if you go to the store, you will see all kinds of products coming from Chile and Argentina this time of year, especially in your fruits and vegetable aisle.

Why is that?

(13:45) Because in the southern hemisphere, when it’s winter here, it’s summer there. Some people, I’m saying this, I hope most people know that, but I’m with the modern-day educational system, I don’t know if that many people understand that the southern hemisphere is the exact opposite climate of the northern hemisphere. So when it’s summer here, it’s winter there. And when it’s winter here, it’s summer there. So if you want to have these fresh vegetables in the summertime, that’s easy. American can produce anything basically you need to eat. But if you want to have fresh vegetables and fruits in the wintertime, you’re going to have to depend on trade and items going through ports or through Mexico or whatever. And that’s where you’re going to get contraband also on those shipments and all kinds of drugs and all kinds of things you’re not supposed to have.

It’s pretty bad by the way. When I read two weeks ago on the TV, I was reading down below on the news thing, and it was saying that something like 400,000 dozen illegal eggs were being confiscated at the border in Mexico, that people are trying to run eggs over the border that were not inspected properly or they were maybe as valuable to the people shipping them as cocaine. I don’t know, but it seems like it sounds pretty funny when our customs agents and our ICE agents are confiscating eggs. And if you are aware of anything in this world, I guess you know we have an egg shortage in America. I believe a manufactured egg shortage by the way, and that eggs are in hard supply. You can go to many stores many times of the week and you will not even see a carton of eggs available. And if there are many stores like Kroger that we go to once in a while, or Whole Foods, they will have a limit on how many dozens of eggs you can buy, two or three dozen, and that’s it because of the egg shortage.

And so the old law of supply and demand, you’re going to have smugglers smuggle children over the border for sex slaves. You’re going to have smugglers smuggle narcotics over the border for our drug users. And you’re going to now have the same smugglers smuggle eggs over the border so we can have eggs in the morning with our coffee. It sounds funny, but it’s the law of supply and demand.

(15:28) That is one of the things I wanted to get into is why should we, the American citizen who does not take drugs, we do not take illegal drugs, we do not take illegal fentanyl or anything laced, could be possibly laced with fentanyl, if we need a painkiller, we go to our doctor who gives us a prescription, and we go to the local pharmacy who gives us a drug that is not going to be laced with fentanyl. So the people who are experiencing all kinds of problems buying maybe Oxycontin off the street laced with fentanyl, or marijuana laced with fentanyl, these people are really going outside the law.

We have to face that fact.

Why should law-abiding citizens who do everything by the book, who try to do everything the right way, and they work a hard life, why should we have to spend more money in tariffs?

Because the idiot down the road wants to do drugs and ends up buying drugs laced with fentanyl, they do an overdose, and they can’t Narcan them back to life again…the cops, by the way, are constantly

(17:21) I live in a small town and my plant is in a very small town in Virginia. And it is a very big drug town because there’s very little employment, I’m sorry. And there is very little things for people to do but get high. And we have a major problem in little town America, with people having nothing to do, very, very depressed people at that, doing illicit drugs, and they’re killing themselves by the scores, by the tens of thousands as if you read the reports. But as much as I feel sorry for that situation, and I would like to help those people because God wants us to help anybody we can, should American John Q or Mrs. John Q public pay for the illegal lawless acts of a few, and you know, 100,000 is still a few compared to all the legal law abiding citizens who are trying to do things the right way. And now they go to their grocery stores, or they go to buy gas, or they to go to work, or they try to buy paint from a paint company trying to sell to them. So why should they pay the price for drug addicts that are not trying to clean up their life? And let’s face it, if you know any drug addicts, and we have some that work for us or have in the past or whatever, these people do really do not want to help themselves.

It’s a very sad situation. And it’s something that I don’t disagree that the government maybe shouldn’t get involved with, with programs to try to end this drug induced society that we’re in, but it’s here. And we can’t coddle these people and try to outlaw fentanyl from China and Mexico and put the burden on the American worker trying to buy goods in his local store or supermarket or gas station. They shouldn’t bear the brunt of the war against fentanyl. And that is what is happening. That was happening under all the administrations is happening now, especially under the Trump administration. And we shouldn’t bear the price of that. I’m not saying these people don’t need help, but at the same time, do you think, and I’m going to just go back just on a separate subject here. In the 1920s, liquor was outlawed by an amendment to the constitution and all these liquor companies and beer companies like Anheuser-Busch at the time and Jack Daniels, they had to sell water, or they had to sell soda or they had to sell anything.

(19:30) If they could stay in business, most of these liquor companies went out of business. And guess what happened? The mafia became the biggest scourge of American life. They controlled the booze, they controlled the prostitution, they controlled the gambling, they control people’s lives. And they killed a lot of people in the process. Yet, want to know what? People who were addicted to alcohol, who wanted to have a drink still got it. It was illegal to have it, but they got it. People will always find a way to fill their addictions. That’s a simple rule. And the prohibition was an absolute perfect example of looking at the past to see what’s going to be in the future. You’re not going to stop people from making drugs. You can make drugs, I have been told, and I think you can find this to yourself, but you can make drugs out of household items. They stopped you from getting over-the-counter sinus medicines and stuff like that, antihistamines and stuff like that, because people learned how to make mind-altering drugs out of that. So we had to put our license up when we want to buy it. We can only buy so many a month because we had to pay the price for people who were lawlessness, who was practicing lawlessness, I should say. The people who are making drugs.

My point is here, if you have a sick society and these people want to get this stuff, they’re going to get it and they’re still going to die. You know, the United States government was the biggest murderer during prohibition than anything else ever could imagine. They mandated that all alcoholic products that could still be made, not for consumption, but like alcohol, the clean stuff or alcohol for disinfection, they had to denature that alcohol by government order.

What does denature stand for? It means you put a poison solvent in, usually methanol, wood alcohol is a side name for methanol, and you put it in. So if someone was to drink it, they would A, go blind or B, die. So what happened during prohibition? You had a lot of bootleggers making their own liquor from corn, but a lot of people were making what was called wood alcohol. They would spike it with methanol. They didn’t care if they killed people or not. I don’t know the numbers in front of me, but I believe many people died in the hundred thousand range when we had a lot less population than we have today, died because of alcohol poisoning.

Do you know why, for example, there are mixed drinks today?

(23:45) And if you’re not a drinker, you may not realize this, but today, when you go to a bar, very few people say, I’m going to have a Jack Daniels over the rocks. Some do, but a lot of people say, I want a whiskey sour, or I want a Bloody Mary, or I want a margarita, or I want some type of what is called a mixed drink. That all came out of the depression era prohibition abolishment of liquor laws, where there was so much fake booze being made by the mafia that the speakeasies, and that’s what the illegal bars were called, speakeasies, they would buy that liquor and the liquor didn’t taste like Jack Daniels, or it didn’t taste like Seagram 7, or Scotch, or Canadian Club. It tasted like solvent. So what they would do is they invented mixed drinks that really went over big for the women, who never really were, for the most part, unless they were a saloon girl prostitute in a Western bar who drank alcohol, rye whiskey and stuff like that. Most women weren’t really big alcohol drinkers because of the fact it was before prohibition, most alcohols were straight. You ordered a beer, you ordered a rye, or a whiskey, or a cognac…even a lot of women would drink a brandy or a cognac. But in order to disguise the taste of alcohol, what bartenders learned to do, especially in New York City, I think it’s where it started, Chicago, New York City, and Philadelphia, they learned that they could make a sour mix or another kind of mix to combine it with that illegal alcohol that tasted like antifreeze, in some cases it was, and when you mixed it with a sweet and sour, for example, you came up with a whiskey sour, or a Tom Collins, or a martini. None of these people in the West didn’t go in and say, I’ll have a vodka martini. Didn’t happen because people were used to the real thing. But when the prohibition came along, they stretched that alcohol, and they made it taste palatable in these mixed drinks. And that’s how we, to this day, you go to martini bars, for example, they have 500 types of martinis, chocolate martinis, pina colada martinis, cherry martinis, you name it, there’s a martini for it. And it’s the mixed drinking. But the point is, nobody stopped people from drinking. There were people making bathtub whiskey.

There were people making their own wine at home.

(25:03) Many Italians that I knew, they’ll tell you about their grandparents used to make their own wine because the Italians were not going to go without wine. And people will find a way around the law. And the other thing you do, and I’m not a libertarian, I’m not a libertarian saying everybody should legalize pot or anything like this…I’m just saying that people will find a way to take care of their addiction, and they will become criminals in order to do it. The government will turn basically law-abiding addicted type people into criminals. And that is what happened in prohibition. And that is what’s happening today with the drug trafficking. I am not endorsing legalizing these drugs, by the way. I’m not endorsing it one bit at all. What I’m saying is we have to find a way to fix this sick society that we have. And we have a sick society, my friends. And we have to admit why we’re a sick society. We’re a sick society because God is not a part of our society. God’s laws are not a part of our society. God is not a teetotaler. I know there are many Baptists out there and a lot of people think that Jesus drank grape juice, but Jesus did not drink grape juice. You can just hear the words or read the words of Jesus when he says, John the Baptist came neither eating nor drinking, meaning alcohol, and you say he is a demon, but I come eating and drinking and you call me a winebibber and a glutton.

Now, why would that be the case?

Because Jesus was drinking wine that had alcohol. Alcohol is good for you. Wine is good for you in limitation. But we have a sick society where people have nothing to do. They’re lost. They don’t believe in God. There is no God in our society for the most part. Yeah, there’s churches. There are places people can go for help. But for the most part, it’s not a part of our society. And until it becomes a part of our society, if it ever is going to be again, we’re going to have these problems. And these problems are not Mexico. These problems are not Canada. And they’re not even China. These problems are within, and we need to find the answer within. And that’s my take for today. But I’d like to finish up by just talking again. I do this every day, a little bit commercial. This is a live one, not a structured one about theplaintruth.com. Theplaintruth.com is the one you go to to find out things about what God thinks, what God writes, what was in the Bible, what God predicts. Because your future headlines that you’re going to watch on ABC, CBS, Fox News, you name it, the headlines you’re going to be hearing in the future, I don’t know when, but you’re going to hear these kinds of headlines…A new EU, United States of Europe forms and the leader comes out of saying, I’m going to solve all the world’s problems. I have a solution for drug problems. I have a solution for racism. I have a solution for unemployment. I have a solution for runaway inflation. I can end it all. People are going to believe him and he’s going to be what the Bible calls the Antichrist. And that’s going to be in your headline someday. So yes, the Bible is the news of the future if you want to believe it. But unfortunately, today, we live in a society that people do not want to believe it.

The Plain Truth is a news site that does believe it.

(27:01) So if you listen to what we say, we’re just telling you what the Bible says is your future. We also oftentimes tell you what the Bible says about your past. The Bible also tells you who we are as people…like who the people of Denmark are, who the people of France is, who the Russians are, who the people are that happen to be living in Egypt right now, and even who the people are that live in China. Do they have a connection to the Bible? Well, the answer to all of that is yes. Now that doesn’t mean anything about your salvation. If you’re going to have an eternal life with Jesus Christ on this earth when he returns, that has nothing to do with it but if you want to know what’s going to happen, it’s good. You don’t even have to be a Christian to know what’s going to happen if you believe the words of the Bible. If you do believe in the words of the Bible, you’re probably going to become a Christian. That is what the Plain Truth’s mission is!

I hope that everybody goes to the Plain Truth every day. They can look at the front page. We always have some good articles on the front page that are considered the main news of the day. Then you can go to the Message Board, and you can see stories we put up. But anybody that wants to put up any story on the Message Board or comment on any story on the message board, and there’s a lot of news, there’s a lot of insight, there’s a lot of comments, more people go to our Message Board than anywhere else on the Plain Truth. So the Message Board is something you could go to every day and you learn so much that you just can’t believe what’s going on in the world. There are also these podcasts called theplaintruthtoday.com. You can get right to these podcasts by just putting in theplaintruthtoday.com. And it’s not just me, it’s many other people. You can listen to people like Bill O’Reilly or Tucker Carlson or a host of other people that we put up. Matter of fact, most of the programming that we put on The Plain Truth Today is not me. I’m on usually once a day, sometimes maybe only four times a week, sometimes maybe eight times a week. But for the most part, we play a lot of other people’s comments, other people’s news shows, so you can get a perspective of what’s going on. Now, granted, we do pick those stories that we think that is the most important stories of the week as it relates to your own personal future. That is what we’re trying to do. We’re trying to show the average person out there that the news can mean things to them personally. And most people watch the news today and they think other people are suffering in wildfires in California, or other people are doing this, or people in Ukraine are doing this, and they don’t associate it with their lives. We try to connect the news to your personal life and your personal future. And I think we’re the only site that really does that very well.

(29:20) And I do think we do it very well. We don’t do it asking for money. We don’t do it for advertisers. And you’ll never get an email from us if you join the Message Board and leave your name and email. You’re not going to get some, we need your money, or do you ever buy this? You don’t even hear from my own company, my paint company. You don’t even see ads for the most part. The Message Board, once in a while, we will put up there’s a sale or something like that. But you’re never asked directly for any money to support this program. It’s free. God wants it to be free. And it will continue to be free as long as I’m alive.

So until tomorrow and the program is later tonight, this is Bob Barney for the plain truth today.com brought to you by The Plain Truth saying goodbye. Thank you for listening. And we’ll see you here again. Bye-bye.
