The False Doctrine of the Immortal Soul (Transcript)

It’s been said that death and taxes are always constant. It has also been said that death is the great equalizer.

 Death is real.

We all are going to face our own demise someday.

As I approach my senior years, as the years have seemingly gone by quicker than I had expected them to, death is more and more on my mind…moreso than it was 40 years ago. It was 40 years ago when I first started listening to and believing in and researching the God of the Bible.

Death is real and death IS the great equalizer.

You can be Bill Gates, and you can spend all of your fortune trying to find eternal life which is something that these uber rich people do. I read stories all the time in the Daily Mail and other places about how these rich people are trying to find the science to help make them live forever. They foolishly think they can do so however, they will die, and they will die just like the hobo in the street.

Death is the great equalizer.

You’re going to die and I’m going to die and the little baby that hopefully has a hundred years of life left in him is going to die. We’re all going to die and that’s a promise that can’t be broken for the time being. 

What happens when you die?

3:33 Is there a future? Do you come back to life again? Do you go to heaven or hell? Do you live on a cloud somewhere in heaven watching down on your loved ones as they are sinning? Or watching them possibly killing each other and abusing their children as pedophiles? You often hear people say, “your mother is looking down on you right now and is so proud…”. Do you really believe this? Does that bring you good comfort to know that this is your future? 

The other day I was talking about false Christianity and went into depth about it. I shared how we are to be wary of this false Christianity that most people are stuck on if they’re Christians or if they think they’re Christians as they attend these false Christian churches. These churches I speak of are not a part of the church that Jesus Christ Himself founded, by the way. So much of their practices are pagan related. It’s time that we leave that paganism behind and follow what Jesus Christ said to do in His word called the Holy Bible.

That is what these shows are about and that’s what this particular show is about, especially concerning the discussion of what is a soul? What is your soul, and do you have an immortal soul?

I think the surprising facts that we’re going to talk about today are going to show you that you have been deceived again by false Christianity concerning: the immortal soul, the doctrine of heaven and hell, and where you go when you die. It is time that we rid ourselves of these notions that are just not biblical in any way.

The concept that you go to heaven or hell when you die is just not biblical and it is part of the great lie…the great deception of Satan. The plain truth of the matter is when you die you all go to the grave, and you await a resurrection from the dead and that’s the plain simple truth. This is one of those misconceptions that I’m going to talk about a lot. Most religions believe this…Christians, Muslims, Catholics, Buddhists, you name it. They all believe in an immortal soul.

5:02 Now I don’t have a problem with people who don’t actually believe in the Bible believing in an immortal soul. I mean everybody has a right to believe what they want to believe. I do have a problem when you claim to be a Bible-reading Christian and you believe every word of God as the word of God, as the absolute fact, and then you say that you have an immortal soul.

This is NOT what the Bible says.

As a matter of fact, in both the New and the Old Testament, the following phrase is used, the soul that sinneth, it shall die. Wait a minute, souls die? I thought we had an immortal soul. How could souls die? You know, the Bible has a lot of firsts in it, and it records the very first lie. We listen to politicians lie all the time however, there was an original lie and that came from none other than Satan the devil. Adam and Eve were placed in a garden and they could eat all the fruit that they wanted from all of the trees, except there was a tree in the middle of the garden they were not to partake of. That was The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

God said that tree you shall never take its fruit and eat of it. For the day you take it and eat it, you shall die.

Now, contrary to what theologians want to teach you, die means die. No, they want to tell you, oh no, when you die, it only means you go to another place of existence. You die either in heaven or hell they say. No, die means exactly what God says it means…we all die.

You know, the name Adam comes from the word red clay. God made man out of dirt. Every time he calls the name Adam, when they talk together in the garden, He is calling him dirt. He wanted to remind man that he was no different than an animal. You know, the word for soul that’s translated soul for humans in the Old Testament is from the word nephesh. It’s the same word that’s used for animals. So, animals have souls, too. Well, when you really read a good concordance and a good dictionary and you understand the word nephesh in Hebrew, it only means in the proper translation, a living creature, a living being.

God blew life into the nostrils of man and he became a living soul is the King James version of that verse, but it really should be rendered, which many Bibles do today, a living being. 

8:21 There’s a book of the Bible and you can look this up that says there is no difference between your death and that of an animal. As one dies, so dieth the other. Put that in the search engine and see what comes up. You’re going to read a passage that does not make sense to you. That says that it’s nonsense to think that man goes upward when he dies and an animal goes into the ground because as one dies, so dieth the other. The same God who is talking about sinners says the soul that sin, it shall die. Jesus repeats that in the New Testament. Do not fear that person who can kill the body, but he cannot kill the soul or the living creature. But rather kill, fear him who kills both body and soul in a hellfire…burn up that soul, burn up that living creature. Think about that. That’s what the Bible says.

So where do you get the idea of you having an immortal soul?

You know, there was a time when a young man came to Jesus and said, Lord, what can I do to inherit eternal life? You notice Jesus didn’t say, hey, you already have it…you have eternal life. It’s just a matter of now you’re going to spend it in heaven or hell. No, he says, if you are to enter into life, obey the law, obey the commandments. The man questions Him, which ones? On your father and mother, do not steal, do not commit adultery. And he starts naming off the Ten Commandments and the man interrupts Him and says; I already do all of this stuff. Then Christ adds to it by saying, well, then give away everything you have to the poor and come and follow Me. The man was rich, and he couldn’t do it. So, he couldn’t obey God.

10:01 There is a lesson there that everybody just glosses over. This was a great teaching moment for that if Jesus believed in heaven and hell and an immortal soul, He would have said you already have an immortal soul. He would have said that you don’t have to do anything to have eternal life. He didn’t say that. If you want life, obey the commandments…and of course, that means eternal life after your death, because as it is pointed out in the Bible, the first Adam died and so will every other Adam afterwards…they will die.

We are destined to die one time, at least. Some people will die two times at the great resurrection. Hopefully you’ll only die once, and you will be in the glory of God and be a spiritual being after your death and resurrection. That’s what the Bible promises you.

12:45 So yes, death and taxes are real, the only real thing that there is, and you’re never going to escape this world alive, as Hank Williams has said. We are all going to die and death is not the end. It’s only the beginning, but you are going to die, as the Bible clearly points out.

Are you coming back to life and do you have something to account for? Do you have someone you have to account to? Is that someone, a person that you have put yourself in a right spiritual mode with? God is going to force you to a reckoning. You’re going to have to justify your life. Now, there are many people who never heard the gospel. There are many people who do not know the Christian way of life, but they’re good people. There are good Chinese people. There are good people in Africa or in the Amazon who actually practice, by nature, the laws of God.

13:11 Paul says so. He actually says, by nature, we know what the laws of God are. Pagan religions and false Christian religions are what takes us away from that law that God has instinctively put in our bodies and in our minds. There are many people who do follow the law of God and aren’t even aware of it…Unfortunately at the same time, there is Satan the devil there that is fooling us through false religion and false Christianity. Of course, the result of that is we fall short of what God wants us to be. We can only find what God wants us to be by following Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ’s example. We can see that again in nature. 

Now, most animals, by the way, don’t have a devil influencing them that much as they follow nature’s God but we do not. We go our own way, and so death is the first result. Eternal death is what we work for and what is earned by our evil ways. Paul says it quite distinctly, the wages of sin is death. You go to work every day and work really hard, and what is your pay? It is death. You go to work every day to work hard for the devil, and he rewards you with dying. Eternal death at that. But the gift of God is eternal life.

You notice, again, it’s a gift. It’s eternal life that can be given to you as an opposite of your death. Do not be fooled by those who want to promise you, if you set them some money, that you’re going to go to heaven when you die, and your dogs are going to be there waiting for you. Dogs go to heaven too. All dogs go to heaven. People want to believe that. I actually knew a minister one time who actually had to preach a funeral for a dog because one of his churchgoers, an older woman, believed her dog had to go to heaven or there was no God, and so he did it for her. He felt good about it. Again, we sometimes deceive ourselves by thinking we’re doing good when we’re really doing evil to God.

15:32 But no, all dogs don’t go to heaven, and neither do you. In fact, you’re going to go into a ground when you die, and you’re going to wait for the resurrection of the dead. You can read 1 Corinthians 15, the resurrection chapter. You can even read it in the last few chapters of Revelation, I believe 20 or 21, when it tells you when each person resurrects. Of course, Christ, when he returns, his Christians resurrect right then. Then after the thousand-year millennium, the rest of the dead come back to life and are judged by what’s in the book, the book of life. If their name is there, they have a second chance. If their name’s not there, then goodbye, daddy. You’re going to fry up and burn to death and be gone. No suffering, no eternal suffering in a hellfire. So, you know, the people that don’t like you can be happy that you’re suffering forever and ever and ever and ever. God is not that. God is not evil. God is not the devil. God is not cruel. God realizes if you can’t make it, you’re evil through and through, it’s best just to destroy you. Do you know the Bible even tells you that the devil is going to be destroyed? Because the only thing immortal in your Bible is God. Not even the angels or the demons have immortality.

It’s only God that is immortal. 

17:03 You will be immortal if you are a Christian upon Christ’s resurrection from the dead. That is what is promised to you…that you are in the family of God. Furthermore, then when you are resurrected from the dead, you yourself will be God. That’s what the Bible says but that’s not what churches want to teach you. That’s not what you’ve been told when you were going to Sunday school or wherever you went, is it? Here is the mystery that you don’t know that you are going to be born again when you are resurrected from the dead. Did you know that? With God’s Holy Spirit, not with that of an angel. You’re going to be superior to the angels. Sounds like blasphemy, but that’s what the Bible says. You’re God’s children. You will have his spirit, and you will have his eternal life. You will not be able to be destroyed because you will be in unison with the Godhead. Total agreement, total dedication.

So, when you’re putting your affairs in order, and those of you who are probably under 40 don’t think that way, unless you’re in the military, of course, and you’re getting ready to go fight a battle. Sometimes I was told one time that the people who tend to listen to spiritual things are prisoners on the death watch and soldiers getting ready for a battle. That may be true. But as you age, you realize you’re looking at eternity. You’re looking at a death that’s going to be as sure as Shanola. And you’re looking at the possibility of eternal life with God or eternal damnation of ceasing to exist. Again, read the Bible for yourself. Don’t let people tell you what’s in the Bible. Don’t let me tell you what’s in the Bible. Listen to what I say. Then you go look it up. You do some searches. Nowadays, unlike when I had to do it, I had to physically pull-out Bibles and concordances and all that stuff. Today, you have a search engine that will find it all for you. You can find the things that are in the Bible that your minister doesn’t want you to know is in there. They don’t like certain things in the Bible, the Bible says.

19:45 For example, most ministers don’t like when Jesus says to the people who say, we worshiped you, we did miracles in your name. And Jesus says, away from me, you who practice lawlessness. I never knew you. You mean people can worship Jesus, believe on Jesus, adopt Jesus, do miracles in his name, and Jesus is going to tell them on the judgment day, get away from me, I don’t even know who you are. That’s what your Bible says. You never heard about that, Jesus, have you? Or when Jesus says, in vain did you worship me, following the commandments of men instead of the commandments of God. In vain do you worship me. People can worship Jesus Christ in vain. By the way, that is Jesus Christ talking in the red-letter versions of any Bible. It’s Jesus Christ’s words. In vain do they worship me, following the traditions of men rather than the commandments of God. Isn’t it about time you start following what Jesus says to do and not what anyone, including myself, tells you to do? Read the Bible. That is the concept here. That is what we’re trying to tell you to do. Read the Bible, and in the Bible, you will find life. Doing what you’ve been doing and just believe on the name of Jesus Christ, and you are saved, well, you’re deceived. And your deception is going to cause misery in your life and the life to come, if you have one. There is a reason that many people died to bring you this Bible.

21:58 Many people died bringing you the Bible that you have today, that you take for granted. God made many martyrs out of those who translated the Bible originally, into the English, for example, like William Tyndale. It is for you to understand God’s will. God wants you to understand His will that also has a reward to it. It is about finding that you have eternal life, and that is what the Good News or the Gospel is all about, finding eternal life! Also, that God wants you to be His children, their children. God the Father and Jesus Christ are recreating themselves through you and me and with every other human being. For after all, what does the Bible say in the beginning when God created Adam and Eve? He created man in their own image, in our image after our likeness, not in the image of an animal or an angel, but in the image of God. When you think of it, that’s a pretty wonderful message, is it not? That you are created, you were made to be in the image of the living God, the God who created the heavens and the earth, the God who is all-knowing and all-powerful, and God is looking at you as really the children of God, and that your destiny is not the destiny that so many people think that it is. Your destiny is a destiny filled with a promise of not only eternal life, but eternal life as God’s children with God’s power, and Jesus Christ therefore becomes your brother, and God the Father is your father.

There is a reason for their being a family connection here, why you are being compared to a family unit, and it is because you are a part of a family unit if you follow God and follow Jesus Christ… and adopt Jesus Christ as your Savior. You are a part of the family of God, and that is the best news you’re ever going to have. You have not only an immortal life coming to you, but you have the life and the power of a living God within you. Think about that.

24:01 So, back to the immortal soul of today’s discussion. Do you have an immortal soul? No, you do not. Do you have immortal soul capability in you? Yes, you do. You have the chance to have eternal life. You know, the most quoted Bible at every football game, they put up these signs, John 3, 16. What does that sign actually says? For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, and that whoever believes in Him shall have eternal life. You don’t have it until you believe in Jesus Christ and obey Him and do what He says to do, and then, as a gift, you will have immortal life. It’s that simple. If you go to the 15th chapter of Corinthians, written by the Apostle Paul, it is the resurrection chapter of the Bible. It really explains the resurrection in all of its forms, because there’s other resurrections talked about, and you see that also in Revelation, in Jesus Christ’s own words as He’s talking to the Apostle John on the island of Patmos. But in 1 Corinthians 15, it tells you that now everyone is going to sleep, and death is a sleep. I’m sorry if you don’t like those words, but that’s the words in your Bible. You open up 1 Corinthians 15, and you’re going to see the word sleep, that the people who die fall asleep, because you are not dead. You are merely awaiting a resurrection to judgment. If you are a Christian, when you die, you arise, or you rise from the dead, I should say. When Christ returns at His coming, you shall be changed into immortality. Your mortal body is put off, and a new immortal body is in place of it. And if you’re a Christian during the tribulation, and Christ returns when you’re yet alive, 1 Corinthians 15 tells you all about what’s going to happen. You’re going to be instantly born again into the family of God. You will instantly be a resurrected, immortal, spiritual body with the Holy Spirit, and you’ll become part of the Godhead. That is the great news of the Bible, and of the gospel, that simply is not taught by mainstream Christianity, false Christianity at that. You’re not being told that you’re not going to be some angel whiffing around on a cloud somewhere, that you’re going to be the brother of Jesus Christ, and the son of God the Father, or the daughter if you’re a female, because male and female, there is no such thing in the kingdom of God, once you become a God-like being, when you become literally God yourself. That is the good news, or the plain truth about the good news of your destiny. It’s a lot better than you’ve ever been told, because what you’ve been told is a lie. It’s a lie to deceive you, and to ultimately make you reject God, and Christ, and the great gift that awaits you.

That’s the whole purpose of the devil.

26:25 The devil wants to take as many people with him as possible. The devil knows the fate that he’s going to face, and that fate is utter destruction, because the devil is not immortal. Angels are immortal. Only God is immortal, and you too can become immortal. And that is the good news. That is the plain truth of the good news. So my friends, read the Bible for yourself, and believe what the Bible says. Read the words on the page and believe what those words say. When Jesus Christ says, in vain do you worship me, you ought to find out if you’re worshiping him in vain, because he’s telling you to be aware of that. When the Bible says that the dead in Christ arise at his coming, that doesn’t mean you’re in heaven when Christ returns. It means you’re in a grave asleep until the return of Christ. That is what the Bible says. That is what it says in 1 Corinthians 15, and that’s what it says in Revelation, when it says the rest of the dead who are not Christians, then at the end of the thousand-year reign of Christ, the rest of the dead then are resurrected back to life, and they are judged by how they lived, and if their name is found in the book of life, and if their name is not found in the book of life, which means they never lived a good life, you don’t have to be, like I said earlier, you don’t have to be a good Jesus-fearing Christian to live a good life. There are many, many pagans, there are many people who do not believe in God, who absolutely live a good life, and they don’t live a Christ life, and they’re not going to come back as one of God’s children yet, but they are going to be given a chance based upon if their name is found in the book of life.

That is the story of the Bible.

Read the Bible, and if you read the Bible and believe what it says and put out of your mind all the notions that the false religions want you to tell you what’s in that Bible, then you’re going to be deceived, and we don’t want you to be deceived here at The Plain Truth. We want you to read the Bible and believe what God says in the Bible. Don’t believe Bob Barney. Don’t believe anybody else talking to you about what’s in the Bible. Find out by reading it for yourself.

29:25 I always say, get a simple-to-read Bible at first, like a living Bible, or Bob Barney’s The Plain Truth Bible you can get on Amazon. Read it through, read all the notes I have. I have perfect notes. Half the Bible is just study notes about what each word means, what each phrase means, what Christ is, how, what Christ’s pre-existent form was. It’s a very good study Bible, but reading easy-to-read Bible first and get the concept of what God wants you to know, then go back and study word-for-word Bibles like the King James Version, but preferably the easier-to-read is the New King James Version, and you will see the plan of God, and you will see for yourself what you were told in your Sunday school was balderdash. It was not the truth. It was not the plain truth, as I like to say, but you can find the plain truth for yourself by hopefully listening to these broadcasts and reading the plain truth every day, but mostly by reading the Bible. Read the Bible. Pray to God for guidance and understanding and wisdom, and you will get it. I say this all the time. God says in his word, those who seek him diligently, I mean, you got to work hard, will find him.That’s what it says.

So anyway, that’s the story for today. That’s the show for today. This is how you find immortal life. You do not have it. I’m sorry to tell you, break that bad news to you, but you do not have immortal life right now, but you can get it, and the Bible is your only way to find it.
