Friday’s Wrap-Up with Bob: January 3, 2025 (Transcript)

Hi, it’s Bob Barney, and it’s Plain Truth Today time, and this is a Friday wrap-up that I’m starting actually on New Year’s Day. I have continued this on the second of January, and the third so it’s really like a three-day show. Between Christmas, which is pagan and the pagan New Year, there are very few people really paying attention to what I have to say or anybody for that matter, so we tried to put up videos that would be quite interesting. Some of the videos we put up during the Christmas time were about where Christmas comes from.

If you don’t understand why you do what you do, then you are really part of Satan’s world, you are a part of this world, and you are missing the boat. I’m trying to turn our listeners into informed individuals. Even when it comes to politics. Uninformed people are the very people who vote in candidates that are just awful, like Kamala Harris. These people, the 71 million, which I doubt were really that many people who allegedly voted for her, there were probably at least 50 million, 60 million, that voted for her legally. They’re telling you right there, that they’re totally uninformed. They had no idea what she stood for, they had no idea what she was about…yes, totally uninformed. 

When asked, they did not know why they voted for her other than what was in their heads, and their heads were empty, and just in general, today, I believe there are too many heads empty here in America.

I think our schooling has done its job. It has caused, unfortunately, many of the people under 50 years old, and there’s a heck of a lot of people over 50 years old that simply do not know anything about government. They don’t know anything about literature. They don’t know anything about mathematics, and they don’t even know anything about real science. We have so many flat earthers out there. I won’t get into that right now, but there are so many people who refuse to educate themselves about the things that are important in their life, and refuse to ask, why am I doing what I’m doing? Why do I vote for a Democrat constantly and never happy with the government they give me?

 You know, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over again, and expecting different results each time…that is what I think a majority right now of Americans are doing.

Americans do not know why they celebrate Christmas.

So last week, we had a lot of shows, a lot of videos on where Christmas comes from. It has nothing to do with Jesus Christ. I always get a laugh, and I have now for about 45 years, get a laugh about when people say, let’s get Christ back in Christmas, or let’s put Christ back in Christmas. It’s pretty hard to do, because Christ really never had nothing to do with Christmas. There was Christmas before Jesus walked this earth. There was Christmas all the way back to Babylonia, and back to the times right after the great flood.

Now, Jesus existed in his pre-existing form of God. He was the God of the Old Testament. Most people don’t even know that, but I find if a person is informed, at least they are making an informed decision. Then if they choose to do things the way they want to do it, then at least they know why they’re doing it. I don’t have a problem with a person who knows what Christmas is all about, and I said, I think I said this last week, I don’t have a problem if you know what Christmas is all about, and then therefore you decide to celebrate Christmas. Same with if you say I’m going to keep Christ out of it, but I’m going to give presents to my family, I’m going to put up a Christmas tree, and I’m going to call it a Hanukkah bush, or whatever I want to call it, because I know Christ has nothing to do with it. It’s an informed decision. I don’t think it’s going to make God happy, but it’s an informed decision, and if you’re not trying to make God happy, what will go, you know, maybe you have a second chance around anyway, but too many of us go through our life, and I was one of them.

I’m right now doing a series, My Story, and trust me, I don’t like this show to be about me, but I do think sometimes when people learn about the person they’re listening to, the trials and tribulations they themselves went through, and the doubts that they have, the weaknesses that they’ve had and still have, I think it kind of gives a person who is in a similar situation, who thinks they’re all by themselves, who thinks nobody in the whole world is as bad as they are in the sight of God, I think when I hear that, they feel a little bit better about themselves.

I’ll give you an example out of the Bible.

There’s a reason these Old Testament stories and some New Testament stories are in the Bible that show the weaknesses of God’s characters. Not God’s character, but God’s characters, like David. David was a weak man. He was a man full of lust and sinful life, but he understood that. He understood where he came from. He understood who the real God was and what the real God expected from him, and whenever God would tell him off, David would listen. Unlike his predecessor, King Saul, whenever he got told off, he just went in one ear and out the other and kept doing what he was doing and expecting different results, insanity, and so we went into last week a lot of the why Christmas celebrations that we do, where they came from, and they all came from Babylonia and then through Rome, through the Germanic peoples to the north, and that’s where the Christmas tree comes from. That’s where the mistletoe comes. That’s where the Yule-tied burning of a log comes from.

So many things come from the pagan sources.

The Christmas tree is found in the Bible in Jeremiah, and you find that God really does not like that whole idea, and the idea that you deck it with silver and gold is found in the Bible, and the bulbs that you put on the Christmas tree, they actually represent male genitals. That’s what they’re on the tree for.

You may as well know that. You may as well not just put it out of your mind and say, I don’t want them to learn anything that’s going to make me not like Christmas and be a dummy your whole life. You may as well know why you do what you do, and so this week we also had some stories about New Year’s and where New Year’s comes from, and I’ve done this now for some 17 years on The Plain Truth, and just so you decide to follow New Year’s Day. We all follow New Year’s Day, by the way. I guarantee you tomorrow when you write a check, if you still write checks, you’re going to put in, well, you’re probably going to still put in the 2024 year, but you should be January 4th, 2025, and I know for the first two or three weeks, whenever you write checks or you have to write the date down, you always put the year before, but eventually you’re going to be writing, and everybody’s going to be calling it January. Everybody’s going to be calling it February, including myself. You’re going to be saying my wife’s birthday, for example, is March 27th. March is a pagan god of war, and when people went out to war in the springtime, and the 27th has nothing to do with God’s 27th day of the month. It has to do with pagans and the days of the week does, but I know it, and as long as I know it, and when I’m doing it, I’m not attributing it to being godly, then I think probably I’m okay, but I try to more and more each day make myself better with God.

Conversion to Christianity, conversion to the true God’s faith is a lifelong experience. It does not happen overnight, at least didn’t happen with me overnight, and I doubt if it’s going to happen with you overnight.

Now this week, we also had two major stories that I’ll put some videos up about the first, and I’m going to talk a little bit today right now about the second story. The first story was this South Korean crash of a Boeing 737-800 that crash landed or tried to land without wheels up, flaps up, on a runway, and unfortunately, at the end of the runway, some moron put in a cement wall to hold the radar instead of a breakaway wall that every airport in America has, a breakaway wall, so if a jet hits it, overruns a runway and hits it, it doesn’t cause the jet to explode into a fireball like we saw on that horrible video, and that video you can see on the Plain Truth Today, go back, you can see a lot of stories. We have stories of pilots talking about why the person was trying to land without gear. It was a bird strike, obviously. Did both engines go out? Did they shut off the wrong engine? We had some really good stories about that, and what I said, I had a story on Boeing in the past, and I said that Boeing is getting a bad rap, and I personally believe that’s coming from European Union and world leaders that are against America, against Donald Trump, against the American people, and against MAGA in general, making America first.

I should call it MAFA, making America first again, and I think Airbus has just as many problems as Boeing, but that’s swept under the rug because Airbus is European Union owned by the countries themselves, France, I believe France, Germany, and England, and it’s a scandal what’s going on to Boeing, but all of the Boeing 737 MAX, the new airplane from Boeing that crashed, they crashed because of inferior pilots from overseas that had no business being in such a modern aircraft. They didn’t know how to run the aircraft.

You did see these crashes in America with well-trained pilots. Well, the same thing here, there’s a possibility, I’m not saying this is the case yet, I’m going to withhold my comment on this, but there’s a possibility these pilots were just overwhelmed with what was going wrong, and they didn’t know how to handle it. The one thing that does seem likely is both engines evidently stopped working. Now, when you see the video and you hear it with the sound, there are engines or engine running, but just because an engine is running at high speed, if it’s the engine that was damaged by the birds and it stopped working properly, then all the high, it’s not getting thrust. So, the reason most pilots assumed, and we had this on the videos, that this plane came in without flaps down and without running gear down, was that the pilots had no power, and they had to make a circle landing at the airport because they had already overshot the airport on their second attempt. And so, they were going all the way around to get back lined up to come back the other way into the runway, and they realized because they had no power, if they put the wheels down and if they put the flaps down, they would crash because they would not have enough mileage. See, when you have the wheels down and the flaps down, it slows the plane down and it starts falling to earth fast. But if you keep the flaps up and you keep the wheels up, then you can glide for miles and miles with a 737. And they were quite low as it is, and they had no room to play.

So, most of the pilots that I listened to have a thought that either by mistake, they shut off the good engine, or there was not even a good engine. Because as you’re looking at it, the right-side engine, it would be the left from the pilot standpoint, but the right-side engine is not working when they land. The left side engine, as you’re looking at the plane facing you, as it was landing, was running. You could see smoke coming out of it. You could see airstream coming out of it. So, it was working. Now, was it given any thrust at all? Probably not. And that’s why maybe they decided to try to glide in. Now, was that right side engine, looking at it, shut off by mistake? Or did it also have a bird strike like what happened to Captain Sully with that famous crash in the Hudson River 12, 15 years ago now? And that could be the case too. So, we’re going to have to find out about what that is.

We put a lot of those videos up this week because, frankly, it’s quite interesting.

Tomorrow, on the Sabbath day, we’re going to have a Garner Ted Armstrong Sabbath show in the morning. It’s not going to be a short story, Saturday night. It’s going to be actually the entire movie of The Hiding Place. Now, I’m hoping that people have a way to project this from their phone or from their computer onto a big screen. You know, these smart TVs, you can put it on a big screen. And so, you could cast it to your smart, you know, 45, 85-inch TV and watch the movie being streamed from your phone or from your iPad or from your computer. If not, then you would have to watch it on your computer, but if you could stream it. That movie, the story of Corrie Ten Boom and her family during World War II, hiding Jewish people from the Nazis, is a story that if you haven’t read the book or if you have not watched the movie, which is a carbon copy of the book. It is not Hollywood nonsense. In fact, the movie was done by the Reverend Billy Graham and his associates back in the 1970s, but he did pick major stars from Hollywood to play the parts. Very famous people are in this movie, and you’ll recognize them instantly. But it’s the story of courage and Christianity and understanding the will of God the Father and who Jesus Christ is. And there are so many moving parts to that movie. To this day, I have seen this movie now since 1974, when I was not yet even a believer. I watched it in college, at the college theater in 1974. It moved me then.

After I became a believer, it moved me even more than back then. I have watched this movie, I would say, 30 or 40 times in the last 50 years and every time I watch it, there are scenes that I start crying like a baby and I can’t stop it. I know the scene is coming and I’m pretty good about not doing that. But there are scenes in this movie that if it doesn’t move you, you’re dead. You’re waiting for a resurrection from the dead. And it’s a 100% true story, word for word. Everything you’re going to see in that movie happened the way the movie claimed to happen.

Corrie Ten Boom, the only survivor of her family after the Nazis caught them, survived the ordeal of a prison camp, spent the rest of her life as a tramp, as she called herself, for the Lord, going around the world, telling her story and her sister’s story, who died in the camp. It was the story of her father saving these Jews and doing God’s work and standing up.

One of the things that moved me, even when we go into the idea of the Bible, I think I tell you No, I think it’s in my biography that I haven’t published yet. But one of the books that is so important to me, of course, is the Bible and all Bibles. People died to bring you a Bible to read. It was a death sentence to publish a Bible in anything but Latin. And it was a death sentence to even read the Bible in Latin.

William Tyndale, who one of my grandsons is named after, was the first person to put the Bible from the original Hebrew and the original Greek into English and wrote a Tyndale Bible, which I have a copy of. I have a lot of ancient Bibles. I have a lot of new Bibles with ancient translations. I have a Bible collection that is amazing. And it’s amazing, and I will continue to collect everyone that I can afford, because people died to bring me this Bible in English. They died. William Tyndale was burned at the stake for making an English Bible. And his story is incredible, because he was a learned scholar in Christianity, and he read the Latin Vulgate Bible. And then he got copies of the Greek and the Hebrew Bibles, the Old Testament, New Testament, most of the New Testaments in Greek, some in Aramaic. After he read the originals, he made a statement to his friends, either the Bible I’ve been reading, the Catholic Bible, is either false and part of the Antichrist, or the Bibles that I just read in the original tongue are false. And I’m afraid to say that what I just read in the Hebrew and the Greek is accurate, and the Bible that I have been reading in Latin, because he was a clergyman, I believe, is totally spurious. And he makes the Bible in English, and the king kills him for doing so. The same king, by the way, that in another 20 years would endorse the King James Version. King James killed William Tyndale, the person who made the first English Bible for heresy. And then that same king adopts the King James Version of the Bible. You want to know what? 70 percent of the King James Bible’s translation are direct quotes from Tyndale’s Bible. That’s how important it is. People died to bring you this Bible. People are dying today to preserve this Bible in all over Africa, all over Asia, in the communist countries. We should respect this Bible. That Bible is keeping you with your God, with a future and without it, you’re lost, and you’re hopelessly lost.

I hope if you do anything for this program, is you start reading the Bible, and you don’t listen to me, and you don’t listen to Garter Ted Armstrong, and you don’t listen to some other holy roller out there. You listen to yourself, and you make the Bible., Get a Bible that you can understand first. The Living Bible is a great Bible. It’s not translated correctly all the time, but the thoughts are there. But then after you learn it from the Living Bible, which is easy to understand in modern English, then you go to the New King James, is the very best translation in my opinion right now. And you start reading those things that have you confused from the Living Bible. And when you see it in the King James, and you get the right concordances, and the right histories, and the right commentaries, like Matthew Henry’s commentary, you will understand the Bible, and you will understand what God wants you to know. It’s not all that difficult. God’s plan is not all that difficult to know. You just kind of want to know it. If you want to know it, you can learn it.

Well, we’re back for the rest of the Friday wrap-up, and I wanted to get on to some other stories, and the one that I’m going to get on to now, honestly, is a tough one, and that is this tragedy that happened, if you want to call it a tragedy, and I’ll get into that, what I mean by that, in New Orleans on New Year’s Eve. This was when a person in a truck ran into a crowd of people on purpose, went around barricades in order to run down dozens and dozens of people, killing at least 10 or 15 of them, and injuring 35, 40 more, shooting two police officers in a shootout, and he himself looks like he was killed by the police. he deserved to be killed. Anybody who was celebrating New Year’s Eve in New York City, Times Square, in Chicago, in LA, in New Orleans, Bourbon Street, you know, you’re almost getting what you should know is going to happen. You have a brain, God gave you a brain, but you don’t want to use it, you don’t want to know why you do what you do, you don’t want to know anything about New Year’s Eve anyway, in his pagan sources, and you refuse to even listen to the news, the secular news about all the crime and lawlessness in this country. Anybody who would go out to a New Year’s Eve gathering like this in this time frame is putting their life on the line, and I’m sorry for their families, and I’m sorry for what happened, but at the same time, people do reap what they sow.

The Bible says so, and it’s true.

 Finally, the last part of this wrap-up is going to be, and this is being recorded in the morning of today, Friday, and around 9:30 a.m., and so I don’t know about the speaker battle that we’re going to have today, but my last thing I want to point out is it is time that the Republicans start working together. They need to put their differences aside, and act for the good of the party…for the good of the American people, and not for their own personal vendettas, or personal whims and whams, and you name it. I don’t care. Speaker Johnson needs to be made speaker today in one vote. It needs to be unanimous. The Republicans need to stick together and stop eating their own, as we’ve talked about before, and hopefully by the time this actually plays at 12 o’clock, in another hour and a half, or two hours, I should say, hopefully there will be a vote, and Johnson will be the speaker unanimously by the Republicans. 

If he is not put in place today, if there is a reason that he is not a speaker, then January 6th, which is Monday, Trump cannot be certified as president. That would be a constitutional crisis.

Then on January 20th, believe it or not, the speaker pro temp of the Senate would become president until this was all worked out. Think about that. Well, right now, that would be a liberal Democrat, Patty Murray, but thank God the Senate will probably have their act together, unlike the Republican House, for sure, and that would be, I believe, Chuck Grassley would become the speaker pro temp, and he would actually be president on January 20th, and not Donald Trump. At least until we would get a speaker who could get the House to certify the election, and then President Trump could be inaugurated sometime in the future.

I don’t know how many people listening right now realize how important what I just said is that the Republicans are playing with fire. They’re playing with the Constitution, and they’re playing with fire. We need to get together, and we need to have Johnson. Trust me, I have had problems with Johnson all along. I still think Kevin McCarthy was a better speaker, but right now, it’s time that we don’t care about what one person thinks, or what two people think, or what this MAGA guy says. We care about who is going to take this country over and get it back on the right track, and that is Donald Trump and Vice President Vance, and it’s going to need a strong Republican Party behind them. It’s going to take a strong House with only a one-vote majority. It’s the smallest majority, by the way, in the history of this country. Right now, it’s the smallest majority in the history of this country. You heard that right, and so Johnson’s going to have his work cut out for him, even if he’s named speaker, trying to keep his party together, because the Democrats, and I listened to a Democrat strategist the other day, and I really took to heart what that person said. I don’t remember his name. I was driving to work, and I was listening to CNBC, but he said there are probably 30, 40, maybe even as many as 80 Democrats who really want to work with Trump and his agenda, because they’re really not that happy with the AOCs, and the Nancy Pelosi’s, and the Chuck Schumer’s of this world right now. They really want to save their party, and they realize to save their party, they got to start talking about the working class again, and not queers, and not illegals, and not one thing, transsexuals in sports, all the things the Democrats have been doing, DEI, you name it, EOE. This stuff has destroyed the Democratic Party. As a matter of fact, the Democratic Party is, as of right now, destroyed, and there are quite a few, according to this pundit, there are quite a few Democrat congressmen who would like to get on board with the Republican majority in the House if the Republicans act like a majority, but like he said, if they’re going to sit around and fight amongst themselves, then these Democrats are just going to sit on the sidelines and wait for the Republicans to destroy themselves, and they’ll get Congress back anyway, and maybe they can save the Democratic Party that way. It is very important that the Republicans understand that if they get Johnson as Speaker today, hopefully by the time you hear this, and then they move forward, there’s going to be many Democrats in the House that is going to start siding with the Republicans in a lot of the new bills that need to be done, and the tax package that needs to be passed, drilling back in America that needs to happen, closing the border.

Many, many Democratic congressmen want to see this border closed, especially those on the border that are Democrats. They have made it clear they don’t agree with the Biden administration on any of that. So hopefully, like I said, by the time this is over, just pay attention to the Plank Youth Message Board. That’s probably where it will be. The second that we know who the Speaker is, and it should be Johnson, the second the vote goes down, we will have it updated on the message board for sure. And that is the one good thing about the Plank Youth Message Board, is that it is always being updated all day long. Sometimes there’s 10, sometimes there’s 15 news stories because there’s so many updates to go on. So if once you’re off, I’m off the show today, go right to the message board. You get right there from theplankyouth.com and see if Johnson was elected Speaker .I am thinking now because President Trump came out wholeheartedly and supported him these last two days, that many of these so-called mega Republican congressmen are going to get in line because they are not going to want to battle Donald Trump. And they will be primaried and they will be defeated before they even face another general election. And that will definitely happen.

Donald Trump has an agenda to get going. It has to get going right away, or America is going down the tubes. America is probably going to go down the tubes in the long run, I think we’re the Titanic, but hopefully we might be able to delay it for a long time if we have a Republican Congress, both Senate and House and a President that is going to do the will of the American people and not worry about illegal aliens, not worry about what sex somebody claims to be and all this other nonsense. If that happens, we’re going to have a little renaissance in this country for about at least four years, maybe a little longer, because I think Vance could carry this agenda on another eight years. So America has a chance tomorrow to maybe set a course of destiny that could last at least another 12 years. And you know what I say on The Plain Truth, that eventually America is going to fall, but it doesn’t have to fall now.

So tomorrow, the Sabbath day, we’ll have our Sabbath shows. We have a Garter Ted Armstrong in the morning. We have the Corrie Ten Boom story, a full movie at the evening time.
