  Friday wrap up with Bob Barney October 16, 2026

Hi, Bob Barney, Friday Wrap-Up, brought to you by ThePlainTruth.com. 

This is The Plain Truth today, and we’re going to talk about the big things of the week and some of the commentaries I’ll have on it, and as well as we’ll try to get in by the end of this show, like always, to get into what we’re going to have tomorrow on the Sabbath day shows. There’s always a Sabbath day morning,7, 11 a.m. type religious type show, talking about the Sabbath or the holidays or some kind of amovie or something like that. We don’t have a noon show on this Saturday Sabbath, but we do have a 7, 11 p.m. entertainment show.

I believe we’re doing another film noyer. I’ll look at my notes at the end of this program, but a couple of the things I wanted to talk about this week. One of the things is, of course, we talked about a little bit last Sunday.

Remember last Friday, I didn’t have a wrap-up, but I did it Sunday. 

I kind of like doing it Sunday, I have to admit, but one of the things I started mentioning, but it’s been playing all week long, is this new, renewed, I should say, feud between Zelensky and Donald Trump over them shelling the Russian facilities, and I say Ukraine should shell the living everything out of anything to do withRussia. 

I’m a little ticked off with people making excuses, the mega people making excuses for these decisions that Donald Trump is making.

Ukraine is doing us all a favor, and I’ll go tell you, I’ll tell you when I’m making a mistake and when I’m not making a mistake in the past. 

I thought four years ago Ukraine was going to be walked over, you know, in about three weeks time, maybe a month, and boy was I wrong, and then I realized why I was wrong. Two major reasons.

Reason number one is always home countries, when they’re invaded, fight a heck of a lot harderthan the invader who’s not protecting their home. 

The British learned that in the Revolutionary War, they were the largest power, army, and navy on the face of the earth, but when they came to the new world, when they came to the colonies that were rebellion, in rebellion I should say, theycould not gain control because the American colonists just was not going to give up. 

They would fight to the very last man in battles, and the British soldiers simply did not want to die for a king that they had no connection with over a homeland that wasn’t theirs, and that’s rule number one.

So when you invade somebody’s country, expect them to be extra tough on the invading forces. Number two, and this is the thing that I forgot about, political science Bob here—- forgot about this and I shouldn’t have, is that when you go back to the old days of the Soviet Union, when they were a powerhouse, and I kind of dispute that because I think the Soviet Union was always a bit of a paper tiger, and it took Ronald Reagan to prove by standing up to them that you could cause that entire paper tiger to collapse, which happened because of Ronald Reagan’s in-your-face policies against Russia, something Donald Trump refuses to do, but when they were somewhat of a powerhouse with all these nuclear bombs, the brain power of the Soviet Union was one little state, and that was Ukraine. Stalin, Khrushchev, Gorbachev, all these people were Ukrainians.

They are the brain power of the Soviet Union. People are surprised, but about 75 to 80 percent of the Soviet population are not what they call white Russians. They are actually oriental.

They are closely related to the Chinese or the Mongolians than they are to Ukrainians, and a lot of people didn’t know that, and I did know that, but I kind of forgot that, but that Putin’s Russia minus Ukraine and some of the other Baltic states lost a lot of brain power in their military and in their science and everything else by that matter, and so that was the second reason why Ukraine could outsmart, outthink, and out produce militarily Russia in battle.

Putin has really shown the world just how weak and of a paper tiger he was, and I’m afraid to say it appears like Donald Trump is trying to save the Putin regime. 

Why? I do not know. Maybe he thinks, maybe he’s got advisors saying, well, that, you know, Putin, if he was assassinated or replaced, maybe the person taken over would be worse than Putin, and they have all those nuclear bombs, you know, the missiles.

If somebody’s telling them that, I have a hard time believing that any credible, any credible expert on Russia would think that anybody’s going to be worse than Putin, to be honest. I really, but I could be wrong there. I’m not going to say that, but the idea that Donald Trump this week to a television reporter interview on tape said he admires Putin.

In fact, he admires any leader of a country who can stay there for 20 years. It shows how smart they are, how good they are for their country, and I’m to this, and I said, so you’re trying to tell me Stalin was good for his country. Adolf Hitler was good for his country.

Mussolini was good for his country because they lasted 10 or 20 years, no matter how ruthless they were, no matter what they stood for. 

I’m sorry, but the more this guy talks, the more people better worry about his mental state, because I still do not believe, I understand, I understand the never Trumpers out there who always said they saw this in him, and I know that his first wife, Ivana, said he loved to watch, you know, Hitler speeches, and he was mesmerized, not that he’s a Nazi, but he was mesmerized by the leadership style of Adolf Hitler. Well, you know, when I went to college, and I’ve told you this before, I was a student, I had a course in political propaganda, and I watched all those Hitler films, and you know what I thought about them? I thought they were pretty cheesy.

I thought they were pretty bad. You know, when you listen to the Germans after the war that survived who were in the ministry of propaganda, they’ll tell you what they looked up to was American propaganda, Hollywood doing the propaganda to fight the war. I’ve told you before about the Why We Fight series done by Frank Capra.

It’s a Wonderful Life, and Mr. Smith goes to town, and Mr. Deeds goes to town, or Mr. Smith goes to Congress, or whatever it was. 

This very famous director and producer was in charge of making political propaganda films for our military of Why We Fight, and you had John Ford doing propaganda, and you had a lot of other people doing from Hollywood doing propaganda films, and I got news for you. 

I watched all of those, and anybody that knows anything about good propaganda would tell you hands down when you watch the German propaganda for Adolf Hitler, it was like a third grader did it, and I’ll tell you the reason why that was.

When you watch American propaganda during World War II, it was very convincing, very convincing. I’d lived in a time when it was a hippie movement in the 1970s, and everybody was anti-war, but when they watched these Why We Fight series, and they watched little children being burned alive by the Japanese, or they watched German spearing women with bayonets in the stomach when they attacked Poland, and what they did to the Jews, and you looked at the concentration camp Jews where the bodies, which you could hardly recognize, piled up on each other. 

Well, I remember watching that show, and it shows the absolute murdering of German soldiers behind the lines fighting from town to town, from building to building, and these kids, these anti-war hippie kids of 1976 stood up and cheered.

That’s how World War II American propaganda got to that bunch. Frank Capra always said, the best propaganda is when the truth is on your side. Well, Adolf Hitler did not have the best propaganda because the truth wasn’t on his side.

Putin does not have the best propaganda because the truth is not on his side. He’s nothing but amafia evil dictator. He’s like a mafia boss.

He’ll kill anybody, including his own family, his own best friends if it helps him out. He has no morals. He has nothing to look up to.

Anybody who wants to look up to Vladimir Putin needs to have their heads examined, and you know, I was talking to somebody last week, and somebody was asking me, why do they think Trump is so different this time around than he was the first Trump, and I say there’s two major reasons, and I may be wrong, but I think there’s two major reasons. Reason number one, he had a lot better advisors the first time around. He had real adults in the room.

He didn’t have a bunch of, what I should say, kids who don’t know anything about anything in every department. 

Donald Trump this time around appointed all people that he thought were going to be only loyal to him, not loyal to the country, not loyal to their department that they were in charge of, but loyal to him personally, and because of that, unfortunately, we got a lot of children in the room instead of adults in the room, and a lot of bad decisions have been made, so that was reason number one. 

I think the first Trump, if people stood up to him the first time around, Trump’s a bully.

New Yorkers, New York business people are kind of bullish. I’ve dealt with them my whole life. I’m from Connecticut, so we were a suburb of New York City, and I dealt with them in Florida, in South Florida when I ran a paint company.

I mean, most of the body shops in Southern Florida, if they weren’t Hispanic, they were Italian, New Yorkers at that. I know there’ll be a bully, but if you push back, they back right off, and that’s what happened in the first Trump administration, the first go-around. People pushed back, and he backed off.

That is not happening this time around, and so these people, what they actually are doing is they’re feeding his ego, and the last thing you want to do with a megalomaniac is feed their ego. You really want to try to control that ego and that rage and make them productive. Donald Trump was productive the first time around.

The average middle-class person, if you were white, black, yellow, green, red, or purple, did a lot better than any other president since Ronald Reagan, and that goes for women as well as men, and it went for minorities, like I said, and Hispanics. Best time that the middle class and even the lower class incomes rose at an incredible pace, and actually the very rich class under the very first Trump administration did not do as well. Well, he’s changed that in this administration.

It’s the upper 10% doing very well and the bottom 90% doing horribly bad, and that has a lot to do with his advisors. 

Now, reason number two, and this is just as important, is if you were listening to this program back in the early days of this Plain Truth Today program, I went over and over again about this lawfare against Donald Trump, this absolute illegal, unconstitutional denial of his Bill of Rights and his constitutional rights by our government, and our government has become our enemy, and I said, if they could do this to a billionaire, what could they do to you if you become their enemy?

 And they broke every single principle of an American liberty to try to put Donald Trump in jail, number one, and number two, to keep him from being president again in 2024. 

And I believe, and plus these ridiculous fines, you had a woman who said he grappled her, and it was just a lie.

There was no such, there is no truth to this. Anybody but Donald Trump, the judge would have laughed it out of court, and that is the plain truth. He was targeted because he was hated, and he was hated by the left, liberal media, politicians, and unfortunately, most of the left-leaning big businesses, including those who are all around him today.

The Musk, who was a big Democrat, and Bill Gates, and the Nvidia guy, can’t think of his name right now. These people were all big Democrat donors, and they hated Donald Trump. You remember what TikTok did to him? You remember he was taken off Facebook, he was debanked by the big banks, all of this stuff because he was absolutely hated.

And so this went to his head, and this is my opinion, told this to somebody last week. He has become deranged because what happened to him. And all this administration is about, all his Justice Department is about, is retaliation against enemies, real and perceived.

And therefore, we have a presidency that has run amok, that is going to fail, going to failmiserably. And unfortunately, and this is the big thing, and I’ll finish this up right after, we’re going to have only one break this time at the 15-minute mark. But unfortunately, it’s going to bring us communist Democrat rule, unless the American people actually see through it, and kind of thread the needle in this off-year election.

And it’s enough for you to believe in God and the God of the Bible until his prophets start showing up. Because eventually we’re going to have two witnesses and other prophets because God says he does nothing unless prophets first announce it. And we have no prophets today that I’m aware of.

And, but eventually you’re going to start seeing men of God, prophets like the Isaiah type and theJeremiah type start talking for God, thus saith the Lord, and preparing God’s people, because the world’s not going to listen to him, but preparing God’s people for the return of Jesus Christ. Getting back to this Donald Trump fixation of going after his enemies, I think it’s a major problem. And it’s a problem that’s going to just overshadow this administration to the very end.

I believe he’s going to try to pardon everybody of his family. I don’t think he’s going to try to pardon everybody around him because Donald Trump only cares about himself right now. He only cares about himself, vengeance, retribution, and getting rich.

And the only people included in that is not his press secretary, not his chief of staff, nobody but his children and himself. I’m not even sure Melania is in his inner circle because I don’t believe she is. Just tell you that.

I don’t believe she has a thing to do with his inner circle. I think it’s a marriage of convenience right now. You look at these, what they call, Donnie’s angels all around him.

One of them now is a press secretary. One of them is really the most powerful woman, according to many polls in Washington, D.C., that harp girl. That is the one that he smuggled into his trunk of his limousine in order to get her past the press.

He didn’t do that with Melania or anybody else. I actually think it’s a reason why Caroline Leavitt actually quit. I think the real reason she quit is this other girl was smuggled onto the Air Force One that he was actually riding on, and he left her, Caroline Leavitt, and the rest of the press on an airplane that intelligence said was going to be missiled.

So it was okay for all of his staff in his cabinet to fly in a plane that was a decoy, that there was credible threats, and I’m not sure this is true, and I’ll tell you that in a minute. There were credible threats that he was going, or the Iranians were going to shoot that plane down with a rocket. Now, I’ll go backwards.

That is the official reports, but you can see why baby Caroline Leavitt was a little disgusted. Here she’s a brand new mother, and her life was put on an airplane that intelligence said was going to be shot down. I don’t know.

I might want to quit over that one, but here’s the problem with that story, however, because if you know anything about Air Force One, first of all, there’s about a dozen of American fighter jets that surround that plane, behind it, in front of it, beside it, on top of it, below it. 

There’s no way a missile’s getting through that escort, that fighter plane escort. Number two, if by some chance a missile was about ready to get through, Air Force One has flares, decoys, probably anti-missile technology they don’t even talk to us about, as well as they might even have missiles on board to intercept other missiles.

The safest airplane in the sky was not the plane that Donald Trump ended up being on. I think that was kind of a ploy for some other reason. 

The safest airplane in the sky today is Air Force One,with all of its technology to thwart any kind of offense by any enemy, including Russia, or China, or Iran.

Just want to say that right out front. 

If you ever watched anything on Air Force One, you realize how defensible that plane is, and how it’s probably impossible to really shoot down. But going back to this thing before I moved on to the last subject, I just want to say that what bothers me the most about Trump 2.0, and I predicted this to my editor, really within a month of his presidency, I predicted to my editor the result of Donald Trump 2.0 is going to bring us a Democratic Congress, and eventually, probably by 28, a Democrat president, where they have all three branches of government.

They will also take over the Supreme Court, and the American liberty, as you and I know it, is going to be gone for our children and grandchildren, because the Democrats are the Communist Party. Now, I know Donald Trump’s telling that to everybody, and they’re all laughing on TV that this is a propaganda ploy by Trump to scare voters. I got news for you.

No one steals elections better than the Communist Democrats. They’re worried about Donald Trump trying to steal an election. I think he’s going to try to steal this election.

I think he’s going to try. He’s tried already, and I think he’s going to try everything he can do to steal this election, or say it’s a fake election and tell Mike Johnson not to seek the new representatives. It’s going to be beat down in the courts.

I said this back when everybody said that he was going to be a dictator. I said, and this was back in 2023, in early shows of The Plain Truth Today. I said, there is no way he’s going to be a dictator,because the American people will not tolerate it.

We have a balance of powers that he will not be able to defeat. I’m telling you that. But when the Democrats who are Communists get done changing, doing away with the power of the Supreme Court, doing away with the power of the Senate, when they actually change things, then we will see a dictator.

Ronald Reagan was right. If there’s going to be a dictator in America, it’s going to be a Democrat, not a Republican. Even though right now Donald Trump is not a Republican, he’s not a populist either.

He’s a greedy Democrat. He’s on the take, just like every other Democrat president that I know in my history, that since I’ve been alive, were on the take. I was alive during John Kennedy.

He probably wasn’t on the take. He was a truly rich man, gave back his money, didn’t seem to personally gain in anything he did. But Lyndon Bain Johnson was a crook.

Even Jimmy Carter wasn’t the president people make him out to be. Bill Clinton was a crook. Obama was a crook.

And Biden and the Biden family was a crook. So now we can add the Trump family with this list of Democrats. But anyway, I want to move into one last subject really quickly here, and then we’ll do the Friday wrap up with what’s going to be tomorrow.

And that quick subject is the inflation rate. As I’ve been predicting for months now, because of the war, but a lot because of the tariffs that nobody wants to admit, that the inflation rate for the year now came in at 3.7%. And everybody’s saying that they thought we were going to get back to that 2% rating, and I knew there was no way, no how, that we were going to get back to that. The U.S. inflation accelerated to 3.7% in the 12 months through September, up from 3.4% year to August.

So this is just going the wrong way. And stock markets are eventually going to realize what’s going on, and probably end up going down the tubes as well. Just wanted to point that out.

And that’ll be the wrap up for this weekend, but I want to get into tomorrow’s shows. I always said, you know, the Sabbath day is Saturday. God has never commanded anybody to do anything on a Sunday but work.

But the seventh day, right from the book of Genesis right on to the book of Revelation, the seventh day is the Sabbath of God. 7-11 tomorrow, we’re going to talk about the Sabbath day because we have a very good YouTube video, Who Changed the Sabbath to Sunday? And it’s going to be very informative. If you are already following the Sabbath, you know all of this, but you still might want to watch this video.

The guy does a very good job explaining just who turned the Sabbath into Sunday. And hint, hint, it started with Constantine, the Roman Empire, emperor, I’m sorry. And it morphed into the Holy Roman Empire long after his death.

And it became also the mother of all the false Protestant churches that came out of her. And they all adopted Christmas, Easter, and the Sunday, so-called Sabbath day. The Sabbath day has neverchanged, never will change.

It’s the day that God ordained way back in Genesis 1. It’s the day that God themselves rested from their work. And that is what we’re supposed to do, is honor the fourth commandment. It’s that important.

It’s part of the Big Ten. Honor the Sabbath day and keep it holy. So that’s the 7-11 a.m. show.

And then the 7-11 p.m. show, we have another suspense. Suspense is a radio program that was from the 1940s and 50s, and it’s really good. You listen to a story each week.

It was, I think it was a weekly show. Each week is a different show, and it is always suspenseful. And it’s, I think, about 40 minutes long, but it’s a radio show, so you’re not going to see any video.

And it’s called The Lost Special, and that’ll be tomorrow night at 7-11 p.m. If you’re driving in your car and you can put your phone over to your radio, like I can in my vehicles, then maybe you’re driving somewhere that’s a 30-40 minute trip. It’s great to listen to this old-time radio shows on the radio. It’s probably better than sitting at home and listening to it on a computer.

But when you’re driving and you’re listening to a story, I was driving back last night, and I was listening to an old-time radio show on Radio Classics on Sirius, and it was a really good one. It had me captivated for about 40 minutes, so I was driving back to the house late at night, and it was dark, but it was a great story. And I’m probably, I wrote it down, and I’m probably going to end up using that show down the road for one of my Saturday shows.

So, that is the wrap-up for October the 16th. We’re halfway through another month, and actually, we’re also at, this is the last day of the seventh month of God’s year. And tomorrow, on the Sabbath day, it will be the first day of the eighth month, and all new month celebrations are technically like a Sabbath day.

If you look in the Old Testament, people didn’t work on the new moon, they call it, but it really is the new month celebrations. It was like a Sabbath day. And so, God, you know, when you think about it, God put a lot of vacation time into your life if you wanted to follow his holidays.

You have three weeks off for Passover, Pentecost, and the feast. You have 52 Sabbaths off a year. You have 12 more Sabbaths of new months, and a little dash of some other days off in between.

So, God gave his people a lot of holidays not to have to work, which was very rare back in the Old Testament times, where most slaves and most workers literally worked seven days a week until they dropped dead at age 29. That is not what God wants for us, or for them, or for you, or for me. God wants us to have a long, productive, fruitful, happy life.
