“…when you read the Bible in the way it was supposed to be read, in the order that it was supposed to be read in, then you understand how that might change your idea about who Christ really is, and what you should be doing in your worshiping of Christ…” – Bob Barney
The Plain Truth is so Happy That You Have Been Enjoying Bob’s Broadcasts.
2000 years ago, a newscaster that we know of as Jesus Christ warned us about false Christianity. The warning was not against the devil but against false Christianity…about people who come in His name and deceive many.

When you think of the Bible, what do you think about?
Most people probably think about the King James Version of the Bible, or nowadays a lot of people like to read the New King James Version of the Bible, or even the NIV, or the Living Bible.
Hello, this is Bob Barney for the Plain Truth Today Short, and we’re going to talk about Bibles.
We’re going to also talk about a plain truth type of Bible that I actually published through Amazon about 11 years ago now, maybe even a little longer now. Quite a few have sold, and we don’t give away this Bible because it would cost more money than I can afford and at the same time I make no money off of it. I think I make a mere two to three dollars for each Bible sold…the price of the Bible is mostly Amazon’s charge to print it. These are very big, thick, well-noted, five-volume long set of books of the Bible.
The Bible is kind of an interesting subject because most people really do not understand the Bible. I remember listening to Garner Ted Armstrong a long time ago who used to like to read from the Moffat translation of the Bible. This is a version of the Bible in which the word of the Lord is translated from Hebrew Yahweh, or Yahweh, or Jehovah, which is the special word of Jesus Christ, really, once you get to know it. But anyway, it translated that word, the eternal, and he liked reading from the Moffat translation, and he jokes about one time on his show about a little old lady who wrote him a letter and she said, “listen here, Garner Ted, if that King James Version of the Bible was good enough for the Apostles, it’s good enough for me!”, meaning he should be reading only from the King James Version of the Bible. The woman had no idea that the King James Version of the Bible was translated in around 1611 AD, about 1600 years after the Apostles. The apostles never read English; the apostles never read a Bible that was anything like the King James Version of the Bible. They really basically probably read the Old Testament only as that was all that there was, and they probably read it in the Greek. They read it in a different order than the Old Testament happens to be in your Bible today, because the arrangement of the Christian Bible, the Old Testament and the New Testament, the arrangement happened over many, many years, over many scholars, some being Catholic and some being controversial.
Do you know, for example, that some of the most eminent church fathers, and I’m not talking about Catholic church fathers, but some of them as well, but people that we know as eminent, Polycarp, for example, was a disciple of the Apostle John. So Polycarp was probably pretty close to the real idea of what the Bible was. Do you know that Polycarp did not accept all of the books of Paul that are in the Bible today? That in the original New Testament, most of the time, they were just letters that people were reading. There was no New Testament as we know it. The New Testament took hundreds of years to put together the 27 books of the New Testament that we have today.
Now, the Gospels were present. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were really present right from almost the beginning of Christianity, and they were readily available to most people who wanted to read them. However, when Paul talks about the people reading scriptures daily to see whether or not what he was saying was true, the scriptures they were reading were the Old Testament. They were reading this probably in Greek and probably in a different order than the Old Testament is in your King James version of the Bible or any other version, actually.
Now, if you get The Plain Truth version of the Bible, it is quite special. It’s called The Holy Bible in its Original Order-God’s Word in Red, meaning that Christ’s words are in red, including when He is speaking in the New AND the Old Testament. You will also see that the order of the Old Testament is different than what you’re going to read in for example, your King James or your Living Bible or your NIV or New King James. This is so because you’re going to find out that the Catholic Church, basically, and even the Puritans and Protestants, changed the order of the Hebrew Bible in order to make it work the way it is now. There is no 1st and 2nd Kings, for example. There is no 1st and 2nd Chronicles. There is no Book of Ezra. It’s a Book of Ezra and Nehemiah, which we made in to two books.
Did you know that the total of the books of the Bible today is actually 66, whereas in the original Bible there were only 22 books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New Testament. This is what was put together some 200 to 300 years after the Apostles. The most important thing that they all read was what they called the Scriptures and was the Old Testament, and they read it in a specific order, a specific order in the Bible, in their Bible, that has been lost with all modern translations since the time of the King James Bible, or even before the Puritan Bible, what they call the Geneva Bible, has all been a different order of the Old Testament.
The Old Testament really is prepared into three categories if you will. The law, the prophets, and the writings, and you see that there is a very different order to that Bible. When you understand that order, you understand that God purposely put the order in the way it is to weave a storyline. This storyline requires that the New Testament is to be understood with the last phrase of the real Old Testament giving a question that leads you into the New Testament. This question is answered in the New Testament because Jesus Christ is the entire personages of the Old and New Testament. Everything is looking towards Jesus Christ in the Scriptures. Every single symbol looks towards Jesus Christ and when you read the Bible in the way it was supposed to be read, in the order that it was supposed to be read in, then you understand how that might change your idea about who Christ really is, and what you should be doing in your worshiping of Christ.
You can get The Plain Truth Bible from Amazon. You would put in in the search engine within Amazon, “Bob Barney Holy Bible”. I always hate to say this because the Bible is obviously not mine, but that’s how you’re going to find it with the authors name, so I had to put myself down as the author. Bob Barney, the Holy Bible, and it will come up, and it’s five volumes. You can buy it on Kindle, but it’s not really a well-done Kindle version in my opinion. However, the actual five volumes are very big, thick, they feel good to hold, are well made and also are in big print which makes it easy to read, and you can get it from Amazon, too.
Until next time, this is Bob Barney for The Plain Truth Today and theplaintruth.com saying thank you for listening. We appreciate you. Bye-bye.
