Hello, Bob Barney, Election Day in many of the states across the land today on November, what is it, the 4th, Tuesday, and we have a little bit of coverage. We didn’t have a lot of coverage. As a matter of fact, on the Plain Truth message board, we just started the other day, Election 2025, and I think here I’m looking at, I think there’s like three or four people on Reddit.
That doesn’t mean it’s all that Reddit, it’s just unique, all that counts on the front pages, the unique hits. But anyway, I don’t know how much interest there is, but we ran a story Sunday on the main page of the Plain Truth, and it says, is it a sin not to vote? And it goes by Jerry Newcomb, I guess, World Night Daily probably, I’m not sure who had this article. But in 1629, the first American ballot in for an election occurred in Salem, Massachusetts.
What was the matter at hand? Choosing a minister and choosing a Christian teacher for the colony. Such is the origin of the use of the ballot on this continent, Samuel Skelton once said back in 1629. Historian Paul Johnson, the article goes on, writes that in his 1997 classic, A History of the American People, in a sense, it was the clergy that was the first elected officials in the new American society.
And that’s the case. Founding father Sam Adams once said, let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is executing one of the most solemn trust in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country. Now, I wanted to get into this because one of the churches that I had an affiliation with, at least with the Gunnerton Armstrong many, many years ago, I wrote some articles for them.
One of the philosophies that church had was it was a sin to vote, basically. They did not believe that their members should vote. And for many years, even though I’m a political science major, I held public office in Connecticut.
For many years, I followed that example of not voting, even for the most famous, or I should say the greatest president of my lifetime, which was Ronald Reagan. I did not vote for him. But then I came to the conclusion, which I’m going to talk about today in this broadcast, I came to the conclusion that you should vote.
And when you don’t vote, you are voting. And many times you may be voting for what the devil’s candidate is. We have that example right now going on in New York City with this ma’am Danny, who I see, it’s so funny with Barack Obama.
Here’s a guy that did not endorse this man, this communist, I should say, running for mayor of New York City until two days before the election, because he knows he’s going to win by a landslide, it appears like, and Obama just wants to be on the winning side, no matter what happens in his party. He just wants to prove that he’s still relevant in the Democratic Party, which he is not. But he came out for him.
He stumped all weekend long in Virginia for the Republican, I’m sorry for the Republican, give me a break, for the Democrat, Abigail Spanberger, who is probably, would be the worst governor we ever have. And there looks to be, in my opinion, in most people’s opinion, that she’s going to run away with this election. I hope that’s not the case.
Winsome Sears, the black woman from Jamaica, originally running for governor, she is presently the lieutenant governor. She is heads and tails way ahead of the Spanberger woman that should be governor. She would be a fantastic governor, whereas the Democrat candidate would be a disaster.
Plus the attorney general for the Democrat side, Jay Jones, I mean, he’s an embarrassment to the entire party when he wrote about four years ago where he wanted to see the Speaker of the House of Delegates in Virginia murdered and basically did not apologize until it got brought up in this election and it became a big issue. But the Virginia race is very close. Winsome Sears, she has tried to mate herself with Donald Trump.
And I think that’s going to backfire on her a little bit, because I don’t know if Donald Trump is that popular in this state right now. In my opinion, he is not. But no matter what, she’s in a no-win situation, because if she doesn’t align with Trump, he will go against her.
But he really hasn’t tried to help her any. He hasn’t come to the state and tried to get her elected. That might be her wishes.
I don’t know, because the polling may show he’s not popular here. Or Donald Trump just doesn’t like to support someone he thinks is going to lose, because that shows back on him. And he’s more about what shows back on him than what’s good for the state of Virginia or the state of the United States, for that matter.
It’s all about Trump lately. And it maybe always has been, I don’t know. But Winsome Sears hopefully can pull this thing out.
But I am not sure that’s going to happen. And the funny thing, going back to Trump, Donald Trump said he could withhold federal funds from New York City if the communist, which this time Trump is actually honest, and he’s accurate here, the communist mom, Donnie, wins today’s election for mayor of New York. The president’s declaration came during his appearance on 60 Minutes, and that itself is kind of funny, with host Nora O’Donnell, who basically didn’t give him any pushback at all.
And he says, well, quote, well, I think I’m a much better looking person than him, right? Talking about ma’am Donnie. O’Donnell pointed out that ma’am Donnie, like Trump, has been described as charismatic and breaking the old rules. But the president was asked what would happen if ma’am Donnie defeats Cuomo.
And he said, it’s going to be hard for me as president to give a lot of money to New York, he said, because if you have a communist running things in New York, all you’re going to do is waste money that I’m sending you. And he’s right there. He’s 100% right.
Then he admitted he don’t like Cuomo very much, but he would prefer him over the communist. And he says, if it’s going to be between a bad Democrat and a communist, I’m going to pick the bad Democrat every time. I have to admit, I absolutely agree with Donald Trump here.
A lot of things I haven’t been agreeing with him lately, but I do agree with him 100%. This guy will be a disaster for New York. The only thing New York’s got going for itself is probably between the people with the real money in New York and Wall Street and the state capital who are beholden to all this big money, big business, and big pharma, and you name it, big real estate in New York City.
They probably will put the kibosh on this guy if he is elected from doing anything he wants to do anyway, because he’ll find a bullet himself if he doesn’t play the game. But there was a good article in the Daily Mail yesterday. It says nearly one million New Yorkers are preparing to flee the city should Democrat socialists, or I could put it in the word communist, Zohran Mamdani wins the race for mayor, a poll has found.
The departure of at least 765,000 citizens would be one of the biggest mass exoduses in American history, with a population equivalent to the size of Washington DC or Las Vegas or Seattle leaving the Big Apple. And I got a side note here from this article that maybe they didn’t mention, but the 765,000 people that would be leaving the city are all the ones paying the taxes, and the ones that’s going to stay behind in the city are the people that’s living off of these people paying the taxes. And so the Big Apple will find itself in such debt it will be unbelievable.
The crushing survey conducted by JL Partners of the Daily Mail found that 9% of New Yorkers would definitely leave New York City. That’s 10% of 8.5 million people. To make matters worse, polling also found a further 25% or 2.12 million people will consider leaving if he’s elected.
What you’re going to find happening in New York City, I’ll just tell you this right now, is that if this guy wins, the people that have the money, the people who are supporting New York City, paying all the taxes, doing all the work and everything else, they’re going to leave. They’re going to go to where? Most likely Florida. And Florida is going to pick up more people.
And guess what? They’re going to pick up AOC’s seat because she’s in New York City. And she may lose her seat when they do redistricting in 2030 because so many people from New York will end up in Florida bringing their representative votes with them and there’ll be new representatives in Florida and a heck of a lot less in New York City, which they deserve. And so the race today is going to be very, very, very interesting.
I will say that in New York City. Now moving on to New Jersey, Democrats are still optimistic that they’re going to pull off the win here. But I got news for you.
New Jersey is the closest state that Republicans might have a chance to pull off. And they are trying their darndest, if they can do it, to get Mike Sherrill out of office or not in office because this Jack, I can’t pronounce his last name, I’m sorry, I believe, in public polling has really got neck and neck with the Democrat. And it’s possibly going to go Republican this time around.
If it doesn’t go Republican, I would have to say that this guy might have a Donald Trump baggage for himself because New Jersey, like New York, and even like Virginia, for instance, Sears, New Jersey right now is not very well in the Trump camp because of what’s going on with the government shutdown, with the tariff situation, with taxes, you name it. And a lot of the things Trump’s doing has got the more moderate states and the more liberal states, I should say, when it comes to New Jersey, New York, upset. And I think there’s a very good chance that he might not do as well in New Jersey and that would be the Trump factor.
And I think that’s the same with Sears. I think she has a Trump problem and she’s, you know, she’s bellied up to the bar with Trump because she don’t want Trump to go against her. And I understand the reason she’s doing it.
But I think this state, with so many federal employees furloughed, many of which are being told they may never be paid. I don’t know how many people know this, but Trump said he will pay the military and he will pay essential workers, but not all workers being furloughed will be paid. That’s what he said.
Now, if that’s legal or not, I don’t know. But it is a problem. I’ll tell you right now, it’s a problem that anybody running on the Republican ticket this year and even next year is going to have.
I said from the beginning that this government shutdown is going to be blamed on both parties and it’s going to be blamed on Republicans, probably more so at the end, because A, the majority of the lamestream media is for Democrats, number one, and so they’re going to give the Democrat point of view no matter what. But also the idea that when you control the House, you control the Senate and you control the presidency and you can’t stop a government shutdown but just sit there and point fingers about what the other side is doing. It doesn’t look good to the American people.
I listened to, now I got to give a caveat here, I was listening on radio on the way home yesterday and it was CNN, so that’s the caveat. But they had a reporter who was questioning a man, and I’m going to take their word for it, and this may be a lie, but if it wasn’t for my own situation, I might call it a lie, but because how I feel right now, I think maybe this was an accurate, honest interview. They interviewed a Trump supporter.
He voted, he said, for Trump in 2016 and he voted for Trump in 2020 and he voted for Trump in 2024. And unlike myself, who I am not upset that I voted for Trump those other two times, and honestly, I’m not upset that I voted for him this time compared to Kamala Harris, but I am disappointed in him this time, however. But this guy said he feels like he’s been lied to, he’s been fooled, and he wished he never voted for Donald Trump.
And he said, as Americans are unemployed, as Americans are looking for food and have their food stamps cut off, he’s building himself a ballroom at his castle. And you want to know something? I’ve heard this from customers I’ve talked to who were Trump supporters. I’ve heard this and I seen this in daily mail, letters to the editor or letters under a story where a lot of people are not very happy with this ballroom being built in the midst of all this thing.
And I’m going to give you a side story when I come back from this little commercial. Hi, Bob Barney for The Plain Truth Today, the podcast that gets into today’s news and tells you if that God has anything to do with it or if he does or not. That’s theplaintruth.com. Go there every day.
Well, we’re back here and I want to give a story of my father, who was a Republican voter most of his life, but you would never get him to knock FDR, even though FDR was probably the king of kings at the time. He had four terms in office and or elected four times. He died in his fourth.
But he did many things that Trump’s trying to do today. He tried to stack the Supreme Court. He tried to push his way everywhere he could go.
And there was this whole movement against FDR while he was president that he was trying to become a dictator like Stalin. And there were many people who compared him to Stalin and Hitler at the time. And FDR was, in my estimation, a very bad president domestically.
And he prolonged the Depression. And the only thing that got him out of the Great Depression was World War II, which he was itching to get us into. But my father told this story all the time.
And I tell this to my wife and I tell this to everybody who wants to listen to me, maybe over and over again too much, but I think it’s very important. And when my father said this, FDR, for those who may be listening to this that are not good in history and maybe too young, FDR was a very rich man. He came from the Roosevelt family, the Democrat side of the Roosevelt family.
His first cousin, by the way, was President Teddy Roosevelt, who was from the Republican side of the family. But they had money coming out of their pockets. And he was born and raised in Hyde Park, New York, in a mansion.
And he had a good life. But during the Depression, whenever they had a White House event, they served hot dogs and beans because FDR was not going to allow anyone to see him eating caviar and steak when all these Americans were on bread lines and running out of food and in desperate situation. And so he made it look good for everyone when everyone was doing bad.
And my father had it very bad during the Depression. I don’t think there was too many people that had it worse than my father. But he looked up to the president and he knew the president was rich, but he looked up this man was a leader who wanted to lead by example.
And he was showing that he could now, he might eat caviar when he might have ate caviar when the cameras were off. But to my father, it was a great gesture that he showed the American public that he was down with them in their problems. And that is something Donald Trump is not doing.
That is, it’s almost, I saw a cartoon where they’re comparing Donald Trump to Marie Antoinette, you know, let them eat cake type thing, because he is hobnobbing with billionaires, bringing in all kinds of money for his own self with the crypto Trump currency. We did this article about that this past weekend. And the corruption of the Trump family right now does seem to be above Biden, Clinton, or Obama.
And just the pardon that he gave to this Chinese guy who funneled billions of dollars from the Iranians and helped finance them, finance and terrorists around the world with arms and drugs and prostitutes, allegedly. When you read the story we had up, I believe it was Sunday, and what this guy did, what he pleaded guilty to, and in fact, paid a $4.5 billion fine, plus a jail sentence, because he admitted he did it all. And it was anti-American, pro-Iranian deals, and gave Trump all the money from buying Trump coins to really make Trump very rich with the Bitcoin type products with the Trump’s name on it.
And so this guy gets pardoned. So too many people see Donald Trump this time around, and I don’t believe it was the case the first time around, I really don’t. But see him this time around is only trying to line his pockets and the pockets of his family at the expense of the average Joe and Jane out there who are not very happy with what they see.
Now I want to finish the show here by, is it a sin not to vote? And the absolute honest opinion here is no, it’s not a sin. And many people, if they are convicted that God does not want them to vote in human elections, and that God is in control, I have no problem with that. In fact, it is something that I believed for many years, and I did not vote even though I was probably the most well-educated non-voter there ever was about an election.
People used to laugh at me about it, that I knew more about what was going on in the election than they did, and they were voting and I wasn’t. But at the same time, I have to admit that if you are convinced that God really does not want you to vote, then you have to stick with your conviction here. There is no reason to vote if you believe in your heart that God doesn’t want you to.
I am going to say right now that I don’t think God is in that position. God wants you to make decisions your whole life. You have to make decisions.
Should I take this drug or not? Should I sleep with this person or not, even though I’m married to someone else? You’re always making godly decisions about yourself, and God wants you to. God wants you to judge. He wants you to judge righteously and fairly and honestly, but he wants you to judge.
And all an election really is is judging who is fit to do something to lead a city or a county or a government in the state or even federal office or the presidency. God, I believe, gives you permission to vote for someone that you think is going to promote the best situation for Christians, for yourself, for your church, and for God. And there have been candidates in the past.
I actually think Trump the first time around, but I’ll go back again to my favorite president, Ronald Reagan. There is no no question in my mind that that bullet should have killed him that hit Ronald Reagan, not the one that hit Donald Trump, but the one that hit Ronald Reagan in the side and just missed his heart by millimeters. Ronald Reagan at his age and that wound that he had probably should have died, and he did not die.
And I can tell you right now, and I’ve read many of his letters, and I actually own a few that I bought in auctions of his letters, where he knows that God saved his life and he saw, therefore, and he wrote the Pope a letter to this effect, that he saw that his mission for the rest of his presidency was to try to bring peace to the world and de-nuke the world with their nuclear weapons and starting with Russia, which he did eventually when he got to Gorbachev after all the other Russian leaders died that he was trying to negotiate with. But Ronald Reagan brought peace to the world when it came to nuclear weapons and Russia, and no other president even comes close to doing what Ronald Reagan did for Americans with the economy, helping people survive and feed themselves, helping people around the world as well by lowering the threat of nuclear war and bring in what was called, it’s known as in the history books, as the peace dividend for Western Europe and for westernized Asia and westernized Africa, what I should say Middle East, and America and North America and Mexico with the NAFTA agreement.
I know NAFTA was not good in the long run for America and I would be the first to admit that, but at the time it made sense, at the time it made sense, and when it wasn’t going well by the time the 92 election came about when Ross Perot was calling it the great sucking sound, but the promotion of NAFTA was not a bad idea.
The implementation of NAFTA, well that was a different story. But I just want to say today, I’m not going to any bible verses, really none, there’s some bible verses that could boast of the fact that you shouldn’t vote, but I think they’re misconstrued. Paul says all leaders are put here by God to do the best for their people.
Well that blatantly is not the case and I don’t think Paul meant what people twisted that he meant. I do not think that Paul thought that the Caesars, who ruled the Roman Empire of the time, was put there by God and the Caesars was doing God’s work for them. I don’t believe in one moment of my existence that Paul meant that what he wrote.
What he did right and what I think what he meant was more to the fact that all leaders are under the control of God and God allows them to be the leaders they are and that doesn’t necessarily mean that God is not going to punish those leaders when they do bad. But at the same time, many leaders in our history of this country especially, when we needed godly good leaders through elections or not, we found them. We found them, for example, with George Washington.
We found them with Thomas Jefferson, who had many flaws as a human being, but was a great thinker and a great leader and wrote basically by himself the Declaration of Independence with very little modification. And then you had people down through history that just absolutely came through for the Americans when they needed it. Somebody as what you might think of a minor character as Ulysses S. Grant, as General of the Armies, who took over a losing cause for the Union.
They were losing battles and the South was winning things they should have never won, and even Ulysses S. Grant was a godsend to save the Union from falling apart. His presidency wasn’t the greatest thing in the world, but he was a man, I think, of decent character. And then you come into the Teddy Roosevelt’s, you come even to FDR.
As much as I have problems with FDR, FDR was an American first. He did not allow a foreign leader or a foreign general, for example, to lead our troops into battle. The British cannot lead American troops into battle.
Americans led English troops into battle, and Canadian and Australian troops into battle, but no Frenchman or Englishman led American troops into battle, and that was FDR’s requirement. FDR was America first. He was not like a modern-day Democrat.
I don’t think he was as much as a communist as a modern-day Democrat, but he was a very big socialist on the socialism scale. I do not think he had very good domestic policies. But John F. Kennedy, I think John F. Kennedy was a war hero.
He has all kinds of sins, he has all kinds of problems, a lot worse than Andrew Cuomo has. But at the same time, John Kennedy was a patriot, he was a hero, and I think as president he wanted to do the right things, and I think he got murdered by our own government because he did want to do things that they didn’t want him to do. And I think even people like Richard Nixon, who absolutely stepped down as president when he should have fought it, and he could have fought it, but he decided it would tear the country apart, and he didn’t want to do that.
The man that everybody loves to hate on TV, Richard Nixon, cared more about this country than the news media and the Democrats and some Republicans who brought him down. And so I do believe that you have the right to vote if you decide you want to vote, because you have the right to vote for local elections, because it decides where your tax money is going, and it also decides where your kids, if you have them, are going to school and what that school is going to be like. And I think you have a right to vote for state and federal elections.
You have that right and God is not going to stand in your way and hold you accountable if you made a wrong choice, if you made that choice honestly. Now if you made that choice because you want to break the Ten Commands by taking somebody else’s money through taxation, or you covet your neighbor’s goods by taxation, and you’re one of these people who like to vote Democrat because you want what somebody else has in your pocket, well then I think maybe God will have a problem with that kind of voting. I really do.
But if you think that God is against voting and you try to find the Bible to prove that, I don’t think you’re going to find it. So anyway, that’s my take on today’s elections. We will find out by tomorrow.
Read the message board, mainly. There’ll be probably quite a bit of updates on the message board about the results of the elections. I believe this is not going to be a drawn-out elections in any state.
I don’t believe it’s going to be close. I think mostly the Democrats are going to win in most of these elections. I’m hoping we have some upsets that may make the Democrats think twice about 26 and how they’re going to do, and maybe all of a sudden come to the table and try to solve this government shutdown and try to take care of people.
But at the same time, I think the Democrats are going to do quite well, and they’re going to read more into this win of theirs than they should, thinking that that means they’re going to win in 26 in a landslide and take over the House and the Senate, and I’m not sure that’s going to happen. Not because the Republicans are doing anything that’s going to stop it from happening, because they’re not, but the Democrats themselves are so far to the left, they are so anti-American, they are so anti-white, they are so anti-male, and now female, that I don’t think the average American throughout the country, we’re not talking about New York City, which has a million Muslims, and more Muslims in New York City than they have in Detroit. One of the things going on here that nobody wants to talk about on the mainstream media is that there is this cabal going on, London is a place, they’re trying it in Europe, they’re trying it in America, Detroit and other cities.
Muslims are at war with Christianity, they’re at war with all infidels, they think they have a right to kill all infidels, and they’re trying to take over westernized cities and turn them into Muslim strongholds. That’s what’s going on, that’s what this Mamdani will do if he’s a New York mayor, he will follow the example of the idiot that’s in London. If anybody wants to go to London and see what a Muslim leader of a Muslim city with a Muslim population looks like, just go to London.
But anyway, that’s the election for today, we’ll find out tomorrow what the American people did, how smart are they, or how dumb are they. I want to find out how many Jews voted for this Muslim in New York, I really do want to find that out. But anyway, that’s the show for today, and didn’t get in too much about what God thinks about things, because I don’t think God has made up his mind about should you vote or not.
I think that’s a decision that God allows you to make, and I’m just telling you right now. So if you voted today, don’t feel bad, and if you didn’t vote today, don’t feel bad. Just don’t complain, that’s all.
Until tomorrow, Bob Barney for The Plain Truth Today, brought to you by plaintruth.com, saying thank you for We appreciate you, as always. See you tomorrow. Bye-bye.
