The Plain Truth is so Happy That You Have Been Enjoying Bob’s Broadcasts.
2000 years ago, a newscaster that we know of as Jesus Christ warned us about false Christianity. The warning was not against the devil but against false Christianity…about people who come in His name and deceive many.

Hi, Bob Barney with The Plain Truth today, brought to you by theplaintruth.com. Pardoning all the noises you may hear in the background. We have work done at the house today and a lot of stuff’s going on. So you may hear something drop or a bang or or a fan blowing or something. Please disregard. However, I will admit that this simple old iPhone just does a really good job at filtering out noises that I can hear right now. But when I replay it back a little bit just to test how bad it was, I didn’t hear it at all.So anyway, today’s subject is a little different than than I usually do. And as a subject, I don’t think you’re ever going to hear anybody talk about but me. And because I just did all kinds of research on A.I., YouTube and the rest. And I put in a subject here. Why do politicians pass laws that they know will be reversed by the courts? And then it comes up with some B.S. answers with ChatGPT. It says politicians sometimes support or pass laws they know are likely to be struck down by the courts. While this may seem irrational, and it’s not really irrational when I give you my explanation. And remember, I did work in politics for a while, and I’ll explain my background here in a minute. There are several reasons why this happens.Number one, a singling to voters. Legislators may want to demonstrate they support a particular cause even though they expect the law won’t survive judicial review. So passing laws look like they’re taking action when they know nothing’s going to be a case.Possibly true. I agree. Testing legal boundaries. The outcome isn’t always certain, and courts can change precedent. And so taking new cases up to an already decided case can help overturn it. Very rarely. But that’s number two. ChatGPT number three, prompting judicial reconsideration. Lawmakers may deliberately pass legislation to give courts an opportunity to change their mind.Nonsense. Number four, negotiation and compromise. A bill may contain provisions that lawmakers expect to lose in court alongside others they believe will stand.Even if some sections are invalidated, the remainder of the law may still achieve important goals.Nonsense. Number five, political accountability.Legislators and judges have different constitutional roles. Some lawmakers believe it’s appropriate to enact policies they think are good, leaving it up to courts to decide or determine whether these policies comply with the Constitution. That’s nonsense because we’re talking about laws that are passed that you know when you pass them there has already been closed case decisions about it.I’ll get into that in a minute. Creating public debate. Number six, even unsuccessful laws can shape public opinion and debate.Minorly true. Number seven, responding to constituents demands. But yes, politicians don’t give a darn about the people supporting them. They only want their money and their vote. They could care less if they help them or not. It’s possible. So then I ask this question and that is what this show is about. It is possible. I’m sorry, does it have anything, my question, this was my question, does it have anything to do with supporting lawyers who defend these cases in courts and get paid huge sums of money as a payback for their contributions? Because that’s really the real answer. The prize is behind door number one. It’s possible for the campaign contributors or politically collected law firms to benefit from legal work in some cases, but there is no general evidence that lawmakers routinely pass laws they expect to lose. This is where AI falls down because it’s programmed by a bunch of liberals who have closed eyes to the plain truth of what goes on.But the truth is laws are always being passed and I’m going to give you some examples. Laws are always being passed that the lawmakers when they pass them honestly know they are going to lose and when they go all the way up to the Supreme Court, the legal people that the state, your taxpayers money hires gets huge, huge sums of money and a lot of big payoffs and it greases the wheel of crooked politics, the swamp. Case number one, Virginia with the new communistgovernor, the supposedly governor that was going to be a moderate. There’s no such thing as a moderate Democrat. Anybody who believes that nonsense really needs to go by the Brooklyn Bridge. It’s probably for sale for somebody who has enough money who thinks they can buy it.But anyway, they passed gun laws that are in Virginia. For example, a mini 14, if you know anything about guns, a mini 14 is just a regular carbine that holds a clip that can and it looks like a regular bolt-action rifle. It’s not a bolt-action rifle, but it looks like a Ruger mini 14 just looks like a normal everyday farming hunting rifle. But it uses a clip and you can get a 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 round, even in some cases a 50 round banana clip for the mini 14 to be able to shoot as many shots as you need. One, two, three, four, five. It’s not automatic, it’s semi-automatic.And so Spanberger did not have the Congress or legislator pass a ban on what the capacity of the mini 14 clip could be. No, she outlawed the mini 14 because she called it an assault rifle. The last thing that it would be, it does not look like an AR-15.It is not nothing like an AR-15. It is a regular carbine that you put a clip in. Now, other states that tried to make real laws, and I’m not for any gun control laws at all, by the way, but any state that really thinks they can get something through the Supreme Court would put a restriction on the magazine size saying you can’t have a 20 or 30 clip magazine size because they say you don’t need that to go hunting. It’s just a nonsense argument, but that passes some laws. But when you pass a law that bans what politicians call an assault weapon, then you are being dishonest with yourself and especially with the voter. And let me give you the first case here about what happened when they passed this law.Listen to this on Fox 5. Restrictions on hold. After a judge ruled a temporary injunction applies across the Commonwealth. Yeah, so this decision has added another twist to an ongoing legal battle over the new laws.Fox 5’s Regina Ureta joins us live from Arlington with the latest on the legal dispute. Regina. Yeah guys, two new Virginia gun laws remain on hold after a series of legal challenges that have essentially stalled enforcement here in the Commonwealth. But the confusion is with a recent court order and whether it only applies to the in which that lawsuit was filed just last month. Well, a Washington County judge says the injunction applies statewide and the Attorney General’s office. Well, they have a response to that.Take a look. The Attorney General Jay Jones said, quote, Judge Jeffrey L. Campbell’s statewidedeclaration is wrong, reaches far beyond the case before him and is unsupported by Virginia precedent. A circuit court injunction must stay within proper legal limits and cannot bind people or parties who are not part of the lawsuit. This office will continue defending Virginia’s assault weapons ban and remains confident the law will be upheld. The temporary injunction comes after Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger signed two new gun laws. One would ban the future sale of certain assault style firearms, including AR-15 style rifles. You know, say you always use AR-15s, AK-47s, AR-15s. Well, a Minimac 14 is not an AR-15. It’s nothing like it.It’s a very popular gun, carbine type gun for hunters, for target practices. And it’s a very good varmint gun. If you live on a farm or in a big estate and you got like a lot of woodchuck problems and stuff like that. Now, a 22 can do the job up close, but you might see, you might have a big piece of property like I do, and you want to shoot something that’s, you know, 150, 200 feet away. And you want somegood knockdown power. If you know anything about a woodchuck, what they call groundhogs in some parts of the country, they take a lot of lead before they die.You can shoot one with a 22, four or five times, and they will still make it to their hole because they can hold a lot of lead. And most of the time they may die in their hole, but many times they do not even die with a 22 bullet. You hit them with a Mini-14 with the .223 bullet, and it usually kills them in a couple shots if the first one don’t.Now, if you really want to make sure they’re dead and you use like a Ruger .44 carbine, which is the same thing as the Mini-14, except it has a .44 Magnum shell, you will blow that woodchuck apart with the first shot and he won’t make a second move and he will be dead instantly. But your arm will be sore for the next 10 days because that thing has an awful kick. I have one, I know.So the idea that when you have somebody who don’t even know what an assault weapon is, these people, these liberals are so dumb, absolutely so dumb. And when I come back from the commercial, I’m going to just educate you how dumb they are about assault weapons. Hi, Bob Barney for The Plain Truth Today. The place to go to, along with theplaintruth.com, that’s how you get to The Plain Truth Today. And to see what’s going on on our message board, Your Health Today, the main page of theplaintruth.com, where we have timely stories every single day that you will find very fascinating, as well as these podcasts by myself and by others that we find that we want to give our audience a complete round of opinions and what’s going on. And we also like to keep mentioning to our audience that we are one of the only sites that I know of that takes today’s news and tries to describe it with biblical terminology because tomorrow’s headlines are found in the pages of the Bible you have in your home.God is the true newsman. He’s the predictor of the news because he will create the news of the future. And so if you read your Bible and you know who the players are, you will also know tomorrow’s headlines.Plaintruth.com, go there every day. So I want to give you a story. I also, I don’t have it in my possession now, my brother has it, but I have a seven millimeter Magnum bolt action. And that gun, probably if somebody was 500, 600 feet away, crawling on the ground, I could pick them off with that gun. If they were 2000 feet away, I could pick them off with that gun and I would aim directly at them and it would hit them because it’s such a powerful flat trajectory rifle that you can bet in two or 3000 feet, that bullet will not drop a quarter of an inch. It will not have a big arc of a heavy bullet, like the normal heavy bullet. It’s a bullet that looks like a missile and it has a lot of charge behind it. And if it hits you 3000 feetaway, you’re dead instantly. It’s a powerful piece of ammunition. Now you take a person coming at me with his AR-15, before that bullet can even hit me, he’s dead if I have my seven millimeter Magnum. That’s the plain truth. He’s dead.Assault weapons are the most unbelievable misunderstood fact of arms in the world, because people who do not know their firearms think that there are some magic gun that shoots miles away and hits people. In fact, they are the most inaccurate gun there is. Back in Vietnam, many of the soldiers didn’t want the M16, which is like the AR-15.They didn’t want the M16. They wanted what is today the mini MAC-14. They wanted the M1, because the M1 was much more powerful of a weapon, and it wouldn’t be considered an assault weapon today. And it was much more powerful, much more accurate, and much less susceptible to jamming. Because most of these so-called assault weapons jam all the time if they have an ounce of dirt in them. And most people, you know, crawl around outside in the woods and stuff, and they get stuff in them. And they have a habit of jamming. Many soldiers in Vietnam died because their M16 jammed. And the ones who survived when their M16 jammed, they did everything they could to switch back to the M1.That’s, again, because we have a media, and I covered this the other day. We have a lying media. Not only are they communists, basically, they really support communism, but they’re ignorant.Well, any communist is ignorant anyway, because they really don’t understand what they’re asking when they support liberal causes. But they don’t have a basic understanding on the news that they report. It’s just that simple. They do not know what they’re talking about. I, in the past, was very friendly. I helped a person that was very close to me get a news job on radio way back in the 1970s.I was kind of a bold kind of person, and I did the job for her, and I found her position. And then later, she made it really big time in TV news. And I never forget, I had a lot of good conversations with her.She was a very, very intelligent woman. I will not say she’s not. Book-wise, educational-wise, she was a very smart woman. But what she did not have, in my opinion, she didn’t have street smarts or common sense that you get by growing up on a farm or growing up in the country, working for yourself, understanding human nature. And so you would get in discussions about things, and she just would not understand simple things that any farmer or any country person would understand. And on a world reversal, she also did not understand just how violent inner-city people were, of the people who grew up around inner-city people as well.Because she went to school, she learned a lot, but she lived in a sheltered environment that never really taught her the real world. That’s what colleges do. That’s what high schools and grammar schools do.That’s the problem, is if you spend your time there and your entire time there, you never really learn what the real world is all about until you go out into that real world. And in many cases, people who do that wish they never did. But just a real primer on just one particular case, that if this goes to the Supreme Court, it’s already been decided by the Supreme Court.Let me quote this. This is from June 2, 2025. So it’s about a year old.The majority did not explain its reasoning in turning down the cases over high-capacity magazines and state bans on guns like AR-15, popular weapons that have also been used in mass shootings. But three conservative justices on the nine-court member policy noted their disagreement. And a fourth said he was skeptical the assault weapons bans are constitutional. And it goes on to the things. And it says here, the headline, this is your lying media, by the way, Supreme Court rejects two gun rights cases, but assault weapons ban issue will be back soon. The Supreme Court makes its decisions. We only know what these decisions are going to be, but Virginia is going to fight it again because Virginia wants to make sure they have a lot of legal precedence against them. So their lawyers that they hire are going to have months and months and months and months of high-paying work. I know you haven’t heard that anywhere else. And I’ll give you an example after we do our next Plain Truth Break. But there’s another case thatshe did. And I don’t know if it’s been taken to the higher courts yet.I haven’t looked this one up. But when she first became governor, she put a surcharge on deliveries of Amazon and UPS and FedEx. And she has no right to do so because that falls under the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution. And no state can make a law that interferes with interstate commerce by taxation of any type. They don’t have the right to do so. Yes, she did it because she knows she’s taking care of her allies, most of which are lawyers. You know, I would say 75 to 85 percent of all lawyers are Democrats. I don’t know that for a fact. I could look that up maybe real quickly, and I think I would be right. And they support the Democratic candidates, and they get their support back by being hired to argue all the way up to the Supreme Court laws that they know have already been adjudicated. And like I said, there’s only one reason for that. And the reason for that is corruption. We are plagued with corruption. I’ve been doing show after show about corruption in Washington, the swamp, and about the war’s corruption, and even around the Trump and the Trump family’s corruption, making money off this war. But it didn’t start with Donald Trump, and it certainly didn’t start with the Teapot Dome scandal either.Corruption around politicians has been around since there’s been politicians, and it doesn’t go away. And many people get into politics, and they soon find themselves immersed in the swamp, and they soon find themselves taking bribes and helping those who help them by passing laws orgiving them jobs that will help the people who supported them continue to support them. It’s part of the process, and it’s a process that if the American people do not stay viligant about, it will continue and get worse and worse and worse until the scandal becomes so big you have a major blow up.And many people will end up going to jail, and many people’s lives will be destroyed, but it needs to happen. The truth, though, if they did it all along and they kept investigating, then there would never be these big cases. But here is the problem. In most towns today, there’s one news agency that owns all the newspapers in the country, just a few. One TV, three TV stations, many times they’re owned by the same people. There is no real news anymore, especially locally, and that’s how this stuff happens.I’ll be right back. ThePlainTruth.com, please go there every day to find out what’s going on and realize that today’s headlines and tomorrow’s headlines mostly can be found sometimes in theBible, but you have to know who the players are. You have to know that, for example, that the country called Ephraim in the Bible, also known as Israel in prophecy, is the United States of America, if called Ephraim, and the United Kingdom, called Great Britain, if it’s Manasseh. And if it’s a prophecy generally about Israel, it does not mean modern day Jewish nation of Israel, because in the Bible, that nation that’s in the Middle East today is referred to as Judah. But whenever Israel is mentioned, it always refers to the tribe of Joseph, which is Ephraim or Manasseh. That is the plain truth, and that’s how you understand the headlines today and tomorrow, by knowing who the players are.ThePlainTruth.com, go there every day. I’m going to give you a little idea about my background. One of these days, maybe I’ll get into more of my background, but I try not to make the show about myself.I often bring in my own personal things like our paint company or my personal experiences, because I do think that most people find it fascinating. Not that I’m fascinating or my life is fascinating, but I think people find it fascinating when they’re listening to somebody to understand where they’re coming from, what experience they have in the past, what they did in the past, things like that, because it helps form a judgment. Do they want to continue to listen to the person or not? So I went to school in the University of Connecticut from 1973, graduated in 1977 with a BS in political science. And my goal during the college years was to work for the CIA. But towards the later college years, it migrated into becoming, to be honest, not the politician themselves, but the people behind the politicians. We used to call them empty suits.I wanted to be like the Karl Rove or the James Carville type. And so that is what I started to do. And I became one of the youngest, and I believe maybe the youngest, because that’s only because the legal age in Connecticut went from 21 to 18.And I just happened to be the first one over the ticket line. But I held a political office at 18 years old in Milford, Connecticut, and it was on the zoning board of appeals. But the long story is I went to school.Later on, after college, the Republicans sent me to Wesleyan University, where I studied campaignmanagement. I wanted to be a manager of a campaign. I didn’t necessarily want to be the actualpolitician because the joke, and I think it’s probably to this day, 40 some years later, the joke at the time was the guy who got elected senator or congressman was usually an empty suit without any brains, being told by some ugly looking manager what to say, what to do, and what to think. And that’s more true than you might want to believe. But when we get into this idea about the corruption, I’ll tell you something I told somebody just the other day, which made me think of this show. Everybody, for the most part, now there are a sliver of people who get into politics to be a crook. There are people who are crooked right from the get-go, and they see it’s an easy way to steal a buck. But that’s few and far between. Most people who get into politics get into politics for very altruistic ideals. They really do. They want to make a difference. They want to be a part of something that they can be proud of.And that’s their motivation. And that’s how it starts. And so they get in.And as they get in, what they find is they can’t get anything done. And then they get very frustrated they can’t get anything done. And so finally, other politicians who are more experienced take you under their wing. And they start saying, well, you’re not getting anything done because you’re not really cooperating with what other people want. It’s not just you that you’ve got to worry about. You’ve got to also please people who don’t necessarily agree with all your ideas, but they have their ideas too.And if you support some of their ideas, then they’ll support some of your ideas. It’s calledcompromise. And there’s nothing wrong with compromise, to be honest, if it’s honestcompromise. But I soon found out that most of the time, it’s not honest compromise. A person will come to you, especially you’re on a zoning board of appeals, and he’s another board member and might say, well, such and such is going to come before us. And they run in a gravel operation. And I know the people in the neighborhood are against it. But this guy is really good. He’s good for the community. He pays for the little league. He pays for the little football league, the bulls, whatever they’re called. Or he does this, or he’s very community oriented. He spends a lot of money on poor people. He helps do the parks. He does all these community things. You need to support him. He’s got to make a living. And little by little, people start saying, well, you know, I can see doing something for this guy because he does a lot.You start justifying yourself. And the more you start justifying yourself, well, you just have to open your Bible. And that is how sin starts.Because what sin starts is you know something’s wrong, black and white wrong, and you don’t do it. But it’s those gray matters when you start talking yourself into something. And then, you know, you start saying to yourself, well, that neighbor’s wife does look awful good. And, you know, they don’t have a good marriage. And she does look at me all the time. And David did it.Didn’t King David kill Uriah the Hittite and Mary Bathsheba? And their son actually became king. That is talking yourself into breaking the law. Well, unless you’re King David, I would be very hesitant to tell you that possibly a lot of things are going to go wrong with that idea of yours and what you plan on doing. And that’s what happens with politicians. And little by little, they get sucked into the swamp. Quick sand is a good terminology for it.And they find themselves as corrupt as anything else. And once they become so corrupt, then they got to keep hiding that corruption and they got to keep covering it up. And they got to keep taking care of the people that take care of them. And it’s a vicious circle. And hence, you have these laws being passed they know are going to bereversed. You have all kinds of things happening in your city government, in your state government that you’re totally unaware of, that is totally, totally corrupt. And good people made it all happen. Going in trying to be good and finding out the swamp was bigger than themselves. One of the reasons that I got out of it really early on, because I was not for sale and I was not going to compromise my beliefs.I would compromise when it was practical compromise. You know, the border is 150 feet, but you want 140 and I want 160. We’re compromised on 149.That’s a compromise. But if it’s compromise in the Ten Commandments, if it’s compromise in honesty, if it’s compromise in someone’s life is at stake, that’s not compromise. That’s selling out to the swamp. And if they don’t own you, you’re not going to make it. With the exception, and I said this, I made a prediction, two predictions. I made a prediction in 1976 when Ronald Reagan lost his nomination for president and the Republican Party that it’s going to take a Ronald Reagan type, bigger than the party, to be able to come in and make the party go to the right way, which Ronald Reagan did.And the editor of this show, ThePlainTruth.com, the editor, I told her in 2014, I think she’ll remember this, that it’s going to take a billionaire like a Donald Trump, who doesn’t need money and can’t be bribed, little did I know, but anyway, at the time, that is going to be able to be a president to make this country turn around. And honestly, the very first Donald Trump presidency, Trump 1.0, as I like to call it, was the great president that he could have been this time around. He failed. But everybody did well under Trump 1.0. The black people made more money than they ever did. Women made more money than they ever did. Hispanics made more money than they ever did.Whites made more money than they ever did. The middle class boomed under that first Trump. Not happening this time because the swamp ate them up.That’s the story for today. Bob Birney for The Plain Truth and The Swamp. Bye-bye.
