Boeing had warning signs for years. During two days of sworn NTSB testimony, investigators revealed that the same MD-11 engine pylon bearing failure had happened at least 10 times before the deadly crash of UPS Flight 2976 in Louisville. The problem was known. Reports existed. But critical information was never fully acted on. In this report, Dan Millican breaks down the hearing, the failed bearing that caused the left engine to separate during takeoff, the questions surrounding Boeing and FAA oversight, and why investigators say this tragedy may have been preventable.
