Bob Barney here for the Plain Truth Friday evening show, but it could be played anytime in the future because this is a pre-show for tomorrow’s Sabbath show of Garner Ted Armstrong. For those new or listeners or people who have never listened to Garner Ted Armstrong, the man has been dead now about, I think, 22 some years, but he’s a person that had a lot of influence on how I came to believe in

10:25God when I was an atheist and the man, if you haven’t heard him, does not come across as an evangelist. As a matter of fact, I always tell the story how I never knew he was an evangelist at first and I was pretty miffed off when I found out he was. But the man had a great delivery, had an unbelievably great sense of humor and probably one of the most, if not the most, intelligent persons I’ve ever known in my life and

10:50spoke with. And I’ll give you a little sample of what the show is going to be about in a second here, so you can hear for yourself if you’ve never listened to Gardner Ted Armstrong. But it’s about the real gospel, the true gospel of Christ, the plain truth gospel, so to speak, because people think that the gospel is about Jesus Christ being born in a manger and the wise men coming to visit him and how he loves everybody and how he forgives everybody. People don’t realize, first of all, the word gospel means good news. It’s a news broadcast. Jesus was a newsman as much as

11:30he was a prophet, as much as he was the Son of God and God himself. He was a newsman and he brought good news. He was a good news broadcaster. But a lot of that good news is actually bad news for people who don’t want to listen to it and people who don’t want to obey God. They think that God did away with the law when he did no such thing. Jesus says in Matthew, do not think I’ve come to abolish the law nor the prophets. Yet that’s what everybody thinks he did. People think he came to bring peace on earth, but he didn’t. He came to bring a sword. But anyway, before I

12:06go on with this idea of tomorrow’s broadcast, I think it’s very important that people understand the real gospel of Jesus Christ. And the real gospel was a news broadcast about a coming new world that is coming, a new world government. Jesus Christ is going to be leading a government. He is not a religious figure. He’s not going to be a high priest anymore. He is today for us Christians, but he’s coming back as King of Kings

12:35and Lord of Lords and God of Gods, and he’s coming back to this world to be the leader of a government. He is bringing a government of God with him. The government will be on his shoulders, as the Old Testament prophecy goes. This is a message, a news program, about the future of the world and the world economy, the world government, the world religion. You know, Conor T. Armstrong once made a great point. He said, you know, God has allowed mankind to go his own way when we decided not to listen to God. And so God let us have our own form of

13:16government, which has been a disaster. He’s had let us have our own form of currency. He’s had our let us have our own free will. He’s also let us have our own form of currency. He’s let us have our own free will. He’s also let us have our own religion, whatever religion we want, and it’s a shame, as he pointed out, that sometimes we put God’s name on that religion called Christianity, which is nothing but a fake paganistic gospel that Christ never brought. In matter of fact, Paul warns about a false gospel. But here is a couple of the quotes that you’ll hear tomorrow in the half-hour program

23:48that we’re gonna play. “…full of the kingdom of God just like Paul did of the Gentiles and just like Jesus did all of that three and one-half years of his ministry. He said, think not I am come to bring peace on earth and everybody thinks he did. They believe in little kiddies are taught you know in the passion plays and a Christmas time and so on to talk about how the angels were supposed to have said peace on earth you know joy to the world Jeremiah was a bullfrog well we have all of our songs today and maybe

24:18the desire of some of those songs is right maybe the attitude what is intended is right but the words sometimes get a little mixed up you know that there is not one scripture in the entirety of the Bible it says peace on earth goodwill toward men you stop to think about that for a minute what an empty statement that is every single year at Christmastime with war going on usually somewhere there been more than

24:4350 wars it could be graced with the term since 1945 and people would take time out to eat a little bit of turkey maybe in a helmet and go back to the business of killing one another the very next day so all of these centuries people have been saying peace on earth when it isn’t even in the Bible now somebody’s going to take issue with me and say yes it is I know where it is no you don’t what you’ve done is misread that.

25:05That scripture really in the original read as follows, peace on earth among men of goodwill. That peace will be on earth among men in whom is goodwill. And because goodwill does not really motivate most men and men’s minds.

15:27We don’t have peace on earth. You know one history… That’s just a little tidbit of all of the program you’re gonna hear tomorrow on the Plain Truth Sabbath broadcast. I really do hope everybody tunes it in and like I said if you haven’t heard Garnerertraud Armstrong talk about what misconceptions there are of the Bible by people who think they know what’s in the Bible,

15:52including myself back then, that didn’t have a clue what was really in the Bible. And many people who think they know the Bible and read the Bible, they basically read the parts that they wanna read, they don’t read the whole thing. And when they get to a scripture that just doesn’t set

16:09well with them, they think somehow it’s been done away with or doesn’t mean what it says, when God plainly means what he says. So that’s tomorrow’s broadcast. It’s called, Garter Chet Armstrong on the true gospel. And you’ll hear on theplaintruth.com or theplaintruthtoday.com. You get there both ways, but it’s always best to go to theplaintruth.com.

16:32You can go there for our message board. You can go to Your Health Today or the main page of The Plain Truth where this will be found or The Plain Truth podcast. That’s theplaintruth.com. Tomorrow the Sabbath day and like I said those who are not familiar with Garner Tord Armstrong and

16:51his great, I’m trying to think of the right word but it’s not hitting me right now in his live broadcast that I’m doing, this is his his attitude of sarcasm that is second to none honestly. But anyway anyway, that’s tomorrow, Sabbath day. This is Bob Barney for the Plain Truth today, thanking you for listening. Until then, is Bob Barney for the Plain Truth today, thanking you for listening. Until then, bye-bye.
