Wyatt Earp: Return to Tombstone marked Hugh O’Brian’s return to his most memorable role as Marshal Wyatt Earp. The movie was an instant smash when it premiered on CBS in 1994 and quickly became one of the most requested films among movie buffs and fans of western movies and television.

By using scenes from the classic black-and-white ABC-TV series The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp (1955–61), we created flashbacks for an all-new story set in 1914 and shot entirely in Tombstone. It was the first—and still the only—Wyatt Earp movie filmed on the actual locations. The new footage and the classic footage were then combined and colorized. A new musical score was added, and a cast loaded with familiar faces and western icons was assembled to complete the unique featurization process.

Special appearances included Bruce Boxleitner, Harry Carey Jr., Bo Hopkins, Alex Hyde-White, Martin Kove, Don Meredith, and even Paul Brinegar from the original Wyatt Earp TV series. To top it off, country music legend Johnny Cash was brought in to sing verses of the famous theme song—rearranged by Dana Walden, who also scored the movie—to link the new and old footage.

Appearing in the flashback segments are Douglas Fowley, John Anderson, Ray Boyle (aka Dirk London), Jean Allison, Steve Brodie, Trevor Bardette, William Phipps, Norm Alden, Gregg Palmer, Herb Vigran, Rodolfo Hoyos Jr., Rayford Barnes, and Bob Steele.
