Several days ago, 19 children were gunned down in their elementary school. And the question will arise quickly, especially among atheists and many Christians, where was God when all of this happened? And if there is a God, why did God allow this to happen? Yes, that is the question of the day for most people. Why would God allow such tragedy if he existed? And so many people who blissfully like to believe that God does not exist love to point this example to those of us who believe in God and that God controls the world, but maybe not to the degree that you think he does.Mankind, all of us, simply wants to have our own way. We want to do what feels good. We want to do the things that we want to do.We are like a seven-month-old child, even when we’re 70 years old. We want to have sex with whomever we want to. We want to choose our way.We don’t want to be told, for example, by some supreme being, don’t eat bacon because pork is abominable, or don’t eat shellfish, or follow the Sabbath day. You see, God gave a Bible to us to read which gives you all of the clues to what God thinks and how he is thinking. And those clues are quite intriguing indeed, for God says that death comes from sin.Sin is the transgression of the law, and the result of sin is death. And so why does death and tragedy happen? It’s because of our sin. God has basically left the world to the devil to run.You will read in the Bible, and most people will be surprised to know this, that the devil is called the prince of the earth. He’s the ruler of this earth right now. God is coming back to take over this earth and to save man from himself, but right now you don’t want God coming back.You don’t want God to tell you to stop doing the things that you’re doing. You want a God of convenience. You want a Linus Blanket God, that you can do what you want and still feel great about yourself.You don’t want a God that’s going to say you’re going to die if you don’t follow my ten commandments. So for the last five or six thousand years, God has allowed us to have our own government, our own schools, our own churches. It’s kind of sad that we put God’s name on our churches because God has nothing to do with most of our churches.We have to learn to obey God’s laws. One of those laws is, thou shall not commit murder. If everyone followed that one law in the whole world, there would be no wars, comma, there would be no deaths, comma, there would be no tragedies.Just that one law. Think about it
