Amitai Etzioni was one of the most influential U.S. intellectuals of the 20th century, his son Oren, 59, is a pioneer in the study of artificial intelligence. Both have given numerous interviews in their lives, but this is the first one they have given together. In mid-May, the two of them received a DER SPIEGEL correspondent in the father’s apartment near the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C.
