The incredible selection, revealed to the world after much anticipation on Tuesday, includes a planetary nebula caused by a dying star - a fate that awaits our sun some time in the distant future. Another image shows the galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 as it appeared 4.6 billion years ago, with thousands of galaxies in a tiny sliver of vast universe, some appearing warped by light from other galaxies.
