“If you were to go out on a street corner and ask the average person out there if America is a democracy, most people out there would probably say yes, America is a democracy. Probably 99%. To a lesser extent, part of that is true, but we are a democratic republic. We are not a democracy..“

All of us labor under immense misconceptions…ideas that we think are true, that are in fact, NOT true…facts that we believe are proven that are not proven.
Hi, This is Bob Barney with The Plain Truth Today.
I am going to talk today and in the next few days we are going to post some other videos both about Bible misconceptions, and a little bit today about misconceptions in general about what people believe is true, that are absolutely not true.
One of the first things that I am going to talk about is the misconception about the formation and the role of our government as designed by our forefathers.
If you were to go out on a street corner and ask the average person out there if America is a democracy, most people out there would probably say yes, America is a democracy. Probably 99%. To a lesser extent, part of that is true, but we are a democratic republic. Virtually no one today, especially coming out of our school systems, no younger person today even understands the concept of a democratic republic that our forefathers gave us and the role of individual liberties. We are not a democracy. A pure democracy like what happened in Athens, always fails in a very short amount of time. Democracies always end up when the majority rules without any safeguard to become a majority ruling by tyranny. That tyranny eventually gets into the hands of a few people representing the majority in their tyranny who then themselves become the dictators even against the majority. So in 30, 40, 50 years like what happened in Athens in the ancient world, democracy always evolves into a dictatorship where there is no freedom of anyone.
That is the first misconception. The idea that the American people do not understand how important it is to have a republic form of government within individual liberty as the basis of that government. It is more important than the idea that they believe we have a democracy> The last thing this country needs is mob rule and democracy is just another name for mob rule.
Mob rule, again, will always end up being or evolving into, or you can say devolving into, a dictatorship; the loss of all liberties of all parties except those in charge. It is our duty to understand why our government was based on a democratic republic form, a representative form of government…and why we have 3 distinct parts of our republic so it is checks and balances…so not one leader can usurp all the power to themselves. one or two other branches can stop that from happening.
The Supreme Court for example has always been in the past a body of judges who are not elected and do not have to run for reelection, so our forefathers saw these people who would always rule with the interest of the constitution.
Another misconception, basically off the first one, is what is the role of the Bill of Rights, what are the amendments of the Constitution and why are the first Amendments so important to understand? Again, if you were to go to anybody on the street, especially those under 40 and asked them the purpose of the Bill of Rights, most people could not tell you what it says, and what they are or why they were put into our constitution. The first 10 are part of the Constitution, the rest of the Amendments are not. They are extensions of the Constitution.
One may try to argue with me on this point saying well no, the Constitution is its own four pages and then the Bill of Rights came afterwards before it was ratified, that is technically accurate but without the BOR there would not be a Constitution.
The forefathers got together in 1788 and 189 to come up with a constitution and came up with a very good form of government with a three branched format with checks and balances. But then, many of the states who were really worried about tyranny because remember, they had just gotten rid of England and a King so they did not want to readopt that system in American, so they saw that the Constitution did limit the powers of the central government somewhat..however, it did not protect the individual people of their individual liberties. This is a misconception that our forefathers did not fight the Revolutionary War for democracy, they fought for individual liberty; that a person was designed by their creator God to have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. There is no government on earth that should be able to prevent that from happening. If so, they made it so God’s right to these people could not be abridged. So when they wrote the Constitution they all decided they had to add amendments immediately that we call the Bill of Rights. Why is it called that? Because it is right mainly for the individual or a minority group of individuals.
The first one is freedom of speech for an individual, or freedom of the press, for an individual, that their right to free speech or a free press cannot be controlled by any government agency. We have a history of a government agency doing just that though, don’t we? The second amendment has to do with an individual having the right to 1) own firearms, and his right to owning them cannot be infringed by any government agency. That means you have the right to own a gun or a pistol without a permit, that is really what it says and that 2) you also have a right, you and your neighbors, to form a militia in order to protect you from the tyranny of the government agency that may decide to become a dictatorship.
You didn’t get the right to bear arms in the 2nd Amendment to go deer hunting or target practicing. Our forefathers did not put something in the Constitution for a right to hunt. Liberals try to say now why on earth does a hunter need an ar-15! This has nothing to do with the hunter but they try to make it so. It is the right to bear arms to protect you from YOUR GOVERNMENT.
That is what it is protecting you from. They had just thrown off a tyrannical government and a King who tried to take away their weapons before their battle of Concord in Massachusetts. So, the 2nd amendment again was all about individual rights and in this case, to own a gun.
You have a right to a jury trial of your peers, you have the right to not speak without the representation of an atty, you have a right to remain silent so as to not incriminate yourself, you have a right to not be forced into a confession. If you are following the Bill of Rights, a person has a right to remain silent, to have an attorney, if they are imprisoned, their atty or themselves have a right to the bill of habeas corpus. That is when a court commands someone to leave to have a trial in court to see if they should be held or released because there aren’t enough charges to hold them.
There is the right against search and seizure of your property without a court order. The police cannot go through your car or your home or your private papers without a warrant. They do it though all the time, especially nowadays in this lawless country we are living in.
According to the Bill of Rights and our COnstitution, no government law passed by Congress or executive order passed by the President can take away a law in the Bill of Rights. Only another amendment can do so. It is illegal to pass a law or to make an executive order that negates any part of the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. . Just remember that.
In the Bill of Rights you have a right to not have your house overtaken by the police force or army or navy in times of war. You have rights that were put in there to protect you from tyranny. That is one of the great misconceptions again that the American people have about their form of government.
Also this week we will get into biblical misconceptions. There are a lot.
People think cleanliness is next to godliness in the Bible. it is not.
They think the God that talked to Moses and appeared to him is God the Father. It is not.
They believe David’s lord was God the Father of the New Testament revealed by Jesus Christ. It was not God the Father. David’s Lord was none other than the being, the God that became Jesus Christ.
We will get into this more this week and others of the idea of when you die, that you have an immortal soul that goes somewhere. That it goes to heaven or hell. The Bible does NOT teach this. There is no such phrase in any part of your Bible that you have an immortal soul. Those two words are not together anywhere but people think they are.
Another misconception of the Bible is that people think the Bible ordains Sunday as the day of worship. That it is the Sabbath day. The actual Sabbath day is what we would call Saturday the same day that the jews honor. It has never changed from when it was in the Bible. I suggest you check with the Catholic encyclopedia which you can find online, where you can see the history of Saturday, the Sabbath of God, morphed into Sunday. WHo did so? YOu are going to find it wasnt Christ, or the Apostles or the first two hundred and thirty years of the church, it was the Catholic church that made Sunday the day of worship and nothing to do with the Bible.
There are other things that people think about the Bible and people who really get into it defending it, that people think you can eat anything. That all foods have been cleansed by Christ on the Cross. The Bible says no such thing. YOu can find phrases in the Bible where people long after JEsus is long dead and ressuecrated that people are actually following a clean diet, no pork, no shellfish, no creeping crawling animal that they desire. You also have a Biblical misconception of the diet at the time of the garden being only a vegetarian diet. Yet we know that Adam had canine teeth.
Another biblical misconception is that all death came from the fall of mankind, the sin of Adam and Eve, and that there was no death before Adam and Eve…but the Plain truth is that human death came from the sin of Adam and Eve, but death came into the WORLD really through sin; it was the sin of the devil when the angel of Light. Lucifer became Satan in the BIble. Lucifer. Which means Bright shining star…he rebelled against God in Heaven, the original Star Wars, and he became Satan of our Bible…the Great Lawless one. And because of HIM, sin entered into the world.
It is obvious that if you just know a little bit about biology, about the human lifespan, about digestion even, that there was animal death before there was human death. That is another Biblical misconception.
MOving on, people believe that what they consume, we went into this also last week, what we consume, what our doctor says is healthy for us, is healthy. That the food pyramid is based on real science. It is not. It is based on pseudo science. People believe on both sides of this issue too, that vaccines are good for you and those that believe that no vaccine is good for you. People who understand where vaccines came from and ultimately the greatest thing that God gave to us to survive disease are vaccines! But you may not know this, those vaccines COME FROM GOD. WHen you are exposed to a disease and you are healthy without immune problems, when you are eating a good healthy diet and exposed to even smallpox or chickenpox or you name it, your body will vaccine itself with white blood cells, with antibodies that will make sure that they can defeat that disease from occuring in you. To the anti vaxxers out there, I would like to say, if you are bitten by a rabid raccoon, you are not going to turn down the rabies vaccine even though it is still filled with the same harmful chemicals that the regular vaccines are filled with. There is a purpose for vaccines. There also are natural vaccines far superior to anything man can make which is called immunity…created by God.
The rest of this week we really want to get into a few shows of Biblical misconceptions and also of misconceptions we have about our form of government, the role of our military, the role of big business, the role of what free enterprise is…is capitalism pure? Is it really what our forefathers envisioned for this country like so many who call themselves “Ultra conservatives” tell you? Can a small family business who is trying to make a living today, fabricating things in small town America compete with China, if they decided to go against them with a product? The answer is no. Pure capitalism does not work. Teddy Roosevelt said the role of our government was not to pick a winner but to keep an even playing field to have referred to keep the big guy from taking over the little guys. It is populism that we are needing in that country. We will get into that.
There are other preconceptions that are worth noting, that people just meander through their life and you can stop and ask them about any of this and they will speak to you as if it is a plain fact. You are going to find out those plain facts are not supported by science or rationality or common sense.. THey are just bogus.
One of those that I can think of offhand is the idea of radiation. Radiation can kill you or it can save you, you know, some people get cancers cured by radiation which can harm just as much as it can help. Radiation is just a light wave on a spectrum that can, at a lower form, cook your vegetables in what is called a microwave, or at a highgrade frequency can nuke a submarine indefinitely on a very small fuel matter. Radiation is what makes the sun work. Radiation is what makes photosynthesis happen, the sun’s light is a form of radiation like I said in this context. Radiation creates life, helps life survive, and can kill life. We have a lot of misconceptions you see. We have to do our own research and start looking for what people tell us to look for. I say this all the time, but it has been a while, it is very important that you do not believe everything you hear. Do not believe me, in fact, I do not ask anyone to believe me, I want people listening to this program to hear what I have to say and then look it up for yourself. Find out if I am wrong about something, maybe I will plant something wrong on purpose to see if you are looking it up, but I do not want you to believe what I say, you don’t even know who I am or what kind of person I am, do not believe in me, believe in God…that is a for sure charge for you…but believe in the mind that God gave you! Do your own research. When I say what the second amendment really says or what form of government really is, or how we are not a democracy, look it up for yourself. IF you do enough research you will find that I am more right then I am wrong about these topics. You will come away with an education. That is what this program is really to do, to get the listener out there to think to himself, “hey wait a minute, I have always believed this but how do I know it is true, let me look into this”, and you start looking in to it and low and behold all of the sudden, wham, this has been a lie, or you will see this is the truth. Prove it to yourself one way or another is a great thing, isn’t it?
This is Bob Barney saying thank you for listening and hope you tune in again and tell others about this program. It basically plays around 3 o’clock every day on The Plain Truth. Look for it every night when you get home. Look for the other videos or articles that go with the podcasts so you can be challenged to look up the misconceptions for yourself. Thank you.
