As the human death toll for the deadliest wildfire on record in California history reached 31 on Sunday, rescuers have been risking their safety to save animals too. Rescued animals were held on Zuma beach in Malibu as the thickness of the smoke created a hazy sky for creatures including llamas (right), donkeys, horses, pigs, bunnies (top inset) and even a giraffe (bottom inset).

The Kardashians' hometown of Calabasas has been put under mandatory evacuation order Sunday evening as the Woolsey Fire continued to rage. The City of Calabasas released a statement from city manager Gary Lysik saying: 'All persons withing the City of Calabasas must now orderly evacuate. For your safety, and the safety of your family, please collect necessary personal items and evacuate the city as quickly as possible, and please follow instructions provided by Law Enforcement.' A number of celebrities, including Robin Thicke and April Love Geary (bottom right), Gerard Butler (left) and Camille Grammer (top right), have lost their homes in the California wildfires.
