The career of director Frank Capra from his early years with Hal Roach, the war years and the creation of his Why We Fight Series, and his post war films until his retirement. In a classroom interview conducted by professor Humphrey Leynse at Washington State University on March 8th, 1977 (and edited two months later for local TV broadcast), Capra discusses the rationale behind the Why We Fight Series and his difficulty in making documentaries. Capra offers a message to young people today on his life experiences and his belief in the saleability of sentiment and heroism of the underdog.
