NEW The Aunt Jemima pancake and syrup brand is being killed by Quaker Oats after more than a century because it is based on racial stereotypes. The Aunt Jemima brand has racist origins as it comes from a vaudeville era song 'Old Aunt Jemima' and its character was based off the mammie – a black woman who worked for white families, nursing their children. Quaker Oats, which is a part of Pepsico, announced it was dropping the brand and working on a name change that was more 'appropriate and respectful' as the nation has been rocked by protests over the police-related slaying of George Floyd.
The nonsense PC culture that does nothing really to help anybody marches on with almost laughable (if it were not so tragic) results.
