The grieving families and friends of the six NSW victims of the MH17 plane disaster have watched a graphic reconstruction of how the aircraft was blown up at an inquest in Sydney as the coroner described the tragedy as 'gross mass murder'.
Dutch air crash investigators created the video to simulate the final moments of the Malaysian Airlines plane as it was shot down by a Russian missile over Ukraine in 2014.
NSW State Coroner Michael Barnes described the deaths of the Australian MH17 victims as 'part of a gross mass murder'.
'Coroners do not make findings of criminal guilt but it would be pointless sophistry not to acknowledge that these deaths were part of a gross mass murder,' Mr Barnes said on Friday.
