Dershowitz: Country ‘Would Have Been Better Off’ if Trump Not Prosecuted

During Sunday’s broadcast of FNC’s “MediaBuzz,” Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz argued against the Department of Justice’s prosecution of former President Donald Trump.

According to Dershowitz, the case was not about espionage or national security but documents, which he said may not justify interfering with a presidential election.

U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors filed a motion on Friday to prevent former President Donald Trump from releasing any evidence shared with his legal team to the media during his prosecution stemming from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into Trump’s handling of White House documents.

Trump appeared in federal court on Tuesday, where he was arraigned on 37 counts relating to Smith’s investigation.

RSBN IS COVERING THE REMARKS OF President Trump after his arraignment.

Arraignment is to be aired live

All you need to know ahead of Trump’s arraignment this afternoon

Donald Trump will appear at the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. U.S. Courthouse, 12 miles from Doral, at 3pm this afternoon.

The former president will be taken into custody and officially notified of the 37 counts against him.

As with his April arrest in Manhattan, Trump is not expected to be put in handcuffs, and a mugshot is not thought to be taken.

It remains unclear whether he will be expected to enter a plea. His lawyers have already said he will plead not guilty.

Chief US District Judge Cecilia Altonaga informed reporters that they were not allowed to bring cell phones into the courthouse.

Meanwhile, US Magistrate Judge Jonathan Goodman had earlier denied a separate request for the hearing to be televised.

An Indictment was unsealed today and our 45th President is being charged with felony violations of our National Security Laws as well as participating in a conspiracy to obstruct justice. This is yet another sad day in our Country. DJT is innocent and they know it; it is a full smear campaign of never-ending projection.

Donald Trump has become the first-ever former US president to face criminal charges.

Last month our former president had appeared in court to plead not guilty to 37 felony counts of falsifying business records, facing an indictment brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The charges all stemmed from a ridiculous five-year-old scandal having to do with a $130,000 hush money payment to Stormy Daniels.

He again is now due in court, this time in Miami this coming Tuesday.

Bob Barney wrote an excellent piece on Crossing the Rubicon discussing what this really means for DJT, America, and all Americans. You can read his full column, here. You can read the full list of charges, here.

Over the course of the last day, I have compiled some of my journey through social media punctuating tonight with DJT’s plea of innocence and expressing how enormously unfair this all is. If anything gets me personally in the gut, it is when unfairness reigns supreme.

Trump Announces HUGE CHANGES To Legal Team After Indictment

In a surprising turn of events, former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced significant changes to his legal team, following a federal indictment for allegedly mishandling classified documents, obstruction, and other charges.

Two of his lawyers, Jim Trusty and John Rowley, have formally resigned from their roles, according to a statement released on Friday.

The joint statement from Trusty and Rowley read: “This morning we tendered our resignations as counsel to President Trump, and we will no longer represent him on either the indicted case or the January 6 investigation.” The reasons for their departure remain undisclosed at this time.

In response to their resignations, Trump released his own statement on Truth Social, declaring: “For purposes of fighting the Greatest Witch Hunt of all time, now moving to the Florida Courts, I will be represented by Todd Blanche, Esq., and a firm to be named later.”

Trump did not miss an opportunity to lambast his opponents, stating that Trusty and Rowley “were up against a very dishonest, corrupt, evil, and ‘sick’ group of people, the likes of which has not been seen before.” He also hinted at more impending announcements, saying, “We will be announcing additional lawyers in the coming days.”

The former president also pointed his finger at current President Joe Biden, questioning: “When will Joe Biden be indicted for his many crimes against our Nation?”
