After 146 years, the curtain is coming down on 'The Greatest Show on Earth'. The owner of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus announced that the show will close forever in May.The iconic American spectacle was felled by a variety of factors, including declining attendance, high operating costs, changing public tastes and prolonged battles with animal rights groups. The show has been a staple of American family entertainment since the 1800s but attendance had a 'dramatic drop' when elephants were removed from performances last May.
