Bob Barney
Most of our readers on The Plain Truth and RaceRap are aware of Joe’s book and special relation to us. Joe is Tammy Barney’s (my wife) step brother and as close to me as a brother. Heck, we helped raise the boy! And he has ‘done us proud.’ After the first week of sales, the book zoomed to number 322 on Amazon.com’s best seller list and was #1 in Bibles, religious commentaries and concordances sales for much of last week.

Did you know …

  • The Bible doesn’t say Jesus died on a Friday or rose at sunrise Sunday
    morning
  • No wise men at all visited baby Jesus in a Bethlehem manger. (They actually
met Jesus for the first time in a house when he was a young child, not a babe in
    a manger)
  • The practice of decorating a tree with silver and gold is actually
    condemned by God
  • God never said "Let Me make man in My image"
  • "Easter" has vanished from the Bible, yet many Christians still revere the
name of that ancient fertility goddess as something holy
  • God sought to kill Moses
  • Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were not Jews
  • There were not just two of each animal aboard Noah’s Ark
  • The Bible doesn’t say Noah’s Ark landed on "Mount Ararat"
  • "God the Father" is never mentioned in the Old Testament
  • Jesus did not come to make everyone understand His message

"I think it’s time people wake up and find out what they’ve been missing,"
says Kovacs, a self-described Bible fan. "My goal is to educate people about the
solid truth of Scripture and to stop the spread of erroneous information. I want
people to crack open their Bibles and see with their own eyes what’s actually
printed on the pages, and what’s not. They can come to their own
conclusions."

Even before its release from publisher Thomas Nelson,
hundreds of copies of "Shocked by the
Bible"
rocketing to the
No. 1 position on WND’s Best-Seller List
, as well as No. 1 in three
categories on Amazon.com: Bible and Other Sacred Texts; Commentaries and
Concordances.

Some readers are already sounding off.

"Your book
has changed my life almost as much as the Bible has!" exclaims Donna Hoagland of
Muncy, Pa., who calls herself "A Servant of Christ." "I sat down and read the
first 75 pages without a thought about getting up and doing anything else. It
was so intriguing."

Henry Mullis of Rockwell, N.C. says: "Thanks for
another great book, I pray that it will get people interested in the Scriptures
once again. Believe it or not there are some of us out here who actually know
the Bible and teach it in church. Maybe I should write a book on all the things
people say that are in the Bible which are not. … It saddens me to know that
most of God’s people don’t know His Word. I laughed when I read the promo which
stated that Abraham, etc. were not Jewish. It’s technically true, but boy, will
the Jewish community howl." have been flying off the shelves,

Some well-known figures are raving as well:

"If you think you really know the Bible, better think again. Joe Kovacs takes
a close look at the greatest story ever told and separates myth from reality. My
favorite parts of the book deal with Christmas and Easter. Check out ‘Shocked by
the Bible.’ You may well be shocked."
Bill O’Reilly,
anchor, Fox News Channel

"Your parents never told you THIS STUFF was in the Bible."
  –
Melanie Morgan, radio talk-show host, co-author "American
Mourning"

"’Shocked by the Bible’ is nothing short of genius. From start to finish, Joe
Kovacs turns the subject of Scripture into a fun-filled, information treasure
that’s virtually impossible to put down. The truth of what’s really in the Bible
will simply stun the world."
Joseph Farah, editor of
WorldNetDaily

The book even delves into "lighter" facts that just never seem to be brought
up in church.

  1. This is just a great book! It reads really well, it’s funny and really eye opening. This is NOT a religious book persay. It just shows the reader what is IN or not IN the Bible. Almost everyone is amazed. Read the reviews on Amazon.com

  2. I bought the book several weeks ago on Amazon and got it yesterday. I was interested in some of the key topics and I have not been disappointed. I am 1/3 through the book today and find it really fun to read. Good job Mr. Kovacs
