The United States was once considered rich. We accumulated abundance throughout most of the twentieth century. We were a very productive country whose wealth, to a great extent, derived from manufacturing. Our companies invented and produced many of the things we needed and much of what the rest of the world consumed. corporations have purchased much of Wall Street in the last decade.
Very few American-owned companies are producing and manufacturing. Many products claimed to be manufactured in America are in actuality only assembled here, with their components consisting of more imports. For example, the American electronics industry is now largely foreign-owned. The vast majority of electronics, parts and products, are made in Asia.
